Other useful tools and materials Tape Clear cellophane tape is used to secure the parchment paper to the foam pad. Tape will not rip the smooth surface of the parchment paper.

Wax paper A small piece of wax paper is used to rub on the surface of the parchment paper before working to help lubricate the paper for smooth embossing. Vellum adhesive or double-sided tape Adhesive or double-sided tape is used to attach the parchment panels to the colored card. White gel pen You can use the pen to add sentiments to the front of your finished cards. Colored Pencils Colored pencils may be used to add color to the Parchamoré Crafting System designs. Felt markers and #4 round paintbrush Markers and brushes may be used to add the watercolor effect to the Parchamoré Crafting System designs. Terms Motif the individual cut areas in the design stencils Embossing applying pressure to raise the surface of the paper. When embossing on parchment, the paper turns a beautiful satiny white. Step-by-step with the Parchamoré Crafting System Place foam pad in Fiskars Embossing System (the Mini ShapeBoss Embossing System is recommended for best results) using positioning pegs at the corners.

6 Step-by-step with the Parchamoré Crafting System Place foam pad in Fiskars Embossing System (the Mini ShapeBoss Embossing System is recommended for best results) using positioning pegs at the corners. Place the parchment paper on the foam pad, aligning the bottom edge of the paper with the bottom edge of the pad. Center the paper in-between the pegs. Tape parchment paper down on both sides. The taped down paper will not be moved for all three of the stencil design steps. Tip: To ensure a smooth surface while embossing, rub a piece of wax paper on the parchment paper. Place #1 design stencil into Embossing System, top side up. With the fine embossing tip, outline all motifs. Outline with a firm, downward motion with the non-tracing hand holding the stencil down firmly. If you press too hard, you will break through the paper. Prevent the embossing tip of the stylus from going under the stencil by not pressing up against the sides of the stencil motifs. 6

7 With the white pencil, shade all the motifs. Working on the foam pad helps to give this shading an even coverage. Shade, for example, all the leaf bottoms with a solid coloring and gradually shading up towards the tip of the leaf. This shading will give you a delicate, shaded effect in your finished design. Remove #1 stencil. Do not remove parchment paper from the Fiskars Embossing System. Place #2 design stencil into the Fiskars Embossing System, top side up. With the fine embossing tip, outline all motifs. There is no need to reemboss lines that are already there from the first stencil. For example, the petal details at the top of the flower design, you need to add the bottom line of the motif only in this step. Refraining from re-embossing helps prevent double lines in the design and breaking through existing embossed lines. 7

8 With the large embossing tip, solid emboss all motifs. Slowly stretch the paper by using a light hand to lightly emboss the motif. Go over it again, in a 90 direction, to stretch the paper further and create a nice, even white area. Pay close attention to the edges of the design. Remove #2 stencil. Do not remove parchment paper from the Fiskars Embossing System. You want to achieve a smooth, solid white embossing. Take your time, practice makes perfect. Tip: Color the motifs with the white pencil before embossing to help eliminate dark patches in your solid embossing. Place #3 design stencil into the Fiskars Embossing System, top side up. With the fine embossing tip, outline all motifs. Using the embossing tips and piercing tip, emboss and pierce design fields in outlined motifs. This is where you get to be creative and add your choice of design fields. (Examples of different design fields shown on next page). The design fields lace up the design and give the results from the Parchamoré Crafting System its signature appearance. Note: Bow design does not have any design fields. 8

With the piercing tip, pierce all the holes in the #3 stencil. Use an up and down motion and strive to make all the pierced holes the same size. Remove # 3 stencil.

Tip: If you wish to pierce holes in the main motif only, place #1 stencil on top of the #3 stencil and use as a guide. Remove parchment paper from the Fiskars Embossing System, carefully removing the tape to prevent tearing. Turn paper over and view your finished design. If needed, you can touch up any areas or add additional piercing. Place the design right side down onto the foam pad and add any additional details. 9

10 Design Fields Follow the steps in order and create one of these different design fields to lace up your design. You can use more than one design field in a design. Finishing Techniques Adhering parchment paper Its translucency is the most beautiful feature of the parchment paper, as well as its most difficult feature for adhering the paper to a surface.

Place a piece of tape to the back of colored card and insert in place into the folded parchment piece. You can also use a specialty vellum tape for invisible taping.

11 Finishing Techniques Adhering parchment paper Its translucency is the most beautiful feature of the parchment paper, as well as its most difficult feature for adhering the paper to a surface. Most tapes show unless special considerations are applied. The best method for attaching the finished parchment design to the folded colored card is with doublesided tape at the back. Place a piece of tape to the back of colored card and insert in place into the folded parchment piece. You can also use a specialty vellum tape for invisible taping. Always test the tape first before using with your finished design. Glue dots in the solid embossed areas, attaching with ribbon and eyelets, and using a glue gun with clear glue sticks for a three-dimensional look are all other options for adhering the finished design to another surface. Adding color with colored pencils You can add color to the design by simply using colored pencils. Add the coloring in place of the white shading after you have outlined the motifs in the #1 stencil. After coloring, continue the steps for the #2 and #3 stencils. Make sure the shading is smooth without any heavy marks and that you color right to the white outline of the motif. Working on the foam pad helps to give this shading an even coverage. Tip: After outlining the motifs, remove the stencil for easier coloring, but do not remove the paper from the foam pad. 11

12 12 Adding color with water-soluble felt markers Add a beautiful watercolor effect to your design with a wash of color using felt markers. Add the coloring in place of the white shading after you have outlined the motifs in the #1 stencil. Outline the motif with the colored felt marker. With a damp brush, wash the color into the motif. Work only one motif at a time. Do not add excess water, as it will cause the parchment paper to buckle. After the colored areas have dried thoroughly, continue the steps for the #2 and #3 stencils. Tip: After outlining the motifs, remove the stencil for easier coloring, but do not remove the paper from the foam pad.

Place the #1 stencil on top and trace all motifs. Omit the white pencil shading and remove #1 stencil. Step 2: Place #2 stencil on top and trace all motifs. Solid emboss the small details in the leaves only, omitting the remaining solid embossing. Remove #2 stencil. Step 3: With the colored pencils, color in all the motifs. Place #3 stencil on top and trace all motifs. With the medium embosser and piercer, add the design fields. With the piercer, add the piercing to the design. Remove stencil and finished rose design. Step 4: Finishing. With the ShapeCutter tool and oval template, cut a 3" x 4" oval window from the front of cream card. Add additional piercing to the front of the cream card by placing on the foam pad, right side down. Cut the rose design so only the overlapping motifs are outside the oval opening. Tape the rose design to the back of the card front. With the lace border punch, punch the sides and bottom of the pale teal card. Tape this card to the inside front of the card. 14

Place the #1 stencil on top and trace the rose and two leaves on the left side only. Omit the white pencil shading and remove #1 stencil. Step 2: Place #2 stencil on top and trace motifs in the rose and two leaves only. Solid emboss the motifs. Remove #2 stencil. Step 3: With the colored pencils, color in all the motifs. Place #3 stencil on top and trace all motifs in the rose and two leaves. With the medium embosser and piercer, add the design fields. Remove stencil and finished rose design. With the piercer, add the additional piercing to the design. Follow the photo of the finished project for additional piercing ideas. Step 4: Finishing. With the ShapeCutter tool and tag template, cut a 3" x 4¼" tag from the green card and the finished rose design from the parchment. With the lace border punch, punch the bottom edge of the parchment paper. Attach the parchment with rose design to the tag with an eyelet. Thread glass beads to the tassel cord then loop knot through the eyelet to finish. 15

For the second design, work the rose and the two left hand side leaves only. Step 2: Finishing. Cut the rose designs from the parchment paper leaving a 1 8" space all around the motif. Crop the photo and tape onto the green card. Cut around the photo with the Paper Edgers leaving a ¼" decorative border. Tape in place onto the cream card. Trim the green vellum paper with the Paper Edgers and using the ShapeCutter tool and template, cut an oval window, positioning the window so the main persons of the photo are seen. Add any journaling to the cream card and tape the green vellum overlay and rose designs in place. 16

Fold in half to form the card. Step 2: Finishing. With the Paper Edgers, trim the sides and bottom of the pale teal vellum. Lightly spray the vellum panel with spray adhesive. Arrange the dried flowers on the vellum panels and place on the inside front of the parchment paper, with the flowers in behind the bow design. Tape the cream card to the inside of the card. 17

With the second stencil, omit the solid embossing and place an embossed dot in the middles of each motif. Remove the stencil and add an embossed dot in-between the ribbon scallop edges. Step 2: Finishing. Cut the bow designs from the parchment paper leaving a 1 8" space all around the motif. Glue the bow design to the gold card. Glue the round gem to the gold card. Cut around the bow design and the gem with the Paper Edgers leaving a ¼" decorative border. With the gold cord, thread on the drop gem and tie the ends together to form a loop. Glue the cord to the center of the bow. Glue the gem to the center to hold the ornament together and forming a loop for hanging at the top. 18

Place #3 stencil on top and pierce in the bow motif only. Step 4: To finish, cut the bow design from the parchment paper leaving a 1 8" space all around the motif. Crop the photo into a large oval and tape onto the white card. Cut around the photo with the Paper Edgers leaving a ¼" decorative border. Make the scalloped ribbon with the Paper Edgers and vellums and tape in place. Tape photo in place onto the decorative paper. Add any journaling with white letters cut from the white paper using the ShapeCutter tool and letters template and glue to 1½" squares of blue vellum, accented with punched hearts. 19
