1 2018 Summer Requirements for Students Entering Grade 4 4 th Grade READING Required Books Read two chapter books from the attached list. Raz-Kids: The use of Raz Kids during the summer is optional but highly encouraged. Students who read minimally during the summer tend to regress rather than grow. When done on a regular basis, Raz Kids practice effectively supports reading development in both fluency and comprehension. Reading will be assessed, with reading levels determined, during the first two weeks of the school year. WRITING Required Book Reports For each of the two books you read, complete a book report on the appropriate book report form attached (fiction, historical fiction, and nonfiction). These book reports will demonstrate your thinking and writing skills for your 4 t h grade teacher. Both book reports are due on the first day of school in August. MATH Mathletics/DreamBox and Multiplication Facts Requirement Continue to log into Mathletics and DreamBox to complete an average of at least 5 total lessons per week.
