1 Summer Reading for Students Entering Second Grade School Year Encourage your young reader to have fun reading this summer! Second and Third Grade students are required to read or listen to five books over the summer. Choose at least one book from each of the three categories below: 1. Any first reader or book recommended by the public librarian 2. Any non-fiction book 3. Any fiction book See instructions on the Summer Reading cover letter concerning the activities. The Medina County Public Library will be able to assist you in your choices. Fun Summer Reading Activities These suggestions can be used to help enhance your family s Summer Reading experience: *Talk about the book you read to your parents and friends *Bike ride to the park and read *Read the map at the zoo or amusement park and the menu at a restaurant *Play a board game *Write your own story *Write a letter to your grandparents, relatives or friends *Visit educational websites: *Go to the library and participate in the summer reading program (has built in MP3 player for kids)
