1 Upcoming Second Graders The following is a list of suggested books for your child to read before the onset of school in the fall. There is not a set number of books to read, but one book a week would be a good goal (depending on the length of the book). There are different levels of readers entering second grade along with many interest levels. You know your child better than anyone. Please help your second grader choose books he or she will enjoy reading and books that will help with fluency. The book The New Read-Aloud Handbook by Jim Trelease is recommended for parents to read. We look forward to meeting you and your child in September!
