1 Dive Into Reading - Summer Reading Program Entering Fifth Grade School Year You may choose from the following book choices: Any Books from the Suggested List Below Any fiction, Nonfiction, or Picture Book Recommended by the Public Librarian or Teacher Other Books by the Same Author if the Title Listed Is Not Available See instructions on the Summer Reading cover letter concerning the activities. Reading is the most important lifelong skill that we can help our children to learn and to practice. Goal: To encourage our students to read for pleasure every day as they continue to refine their reading and comprehension skills over the summer months. Requirements: Read and/or listen to THREE books Complete a reading log entry for EACH book Complete a graphic organizer for ONE of the three books read. Choose the graphic organizer that best fits the book s genre (either fiction or nonfiction) Parents are encouraged to read aloud to and with their children Expectations: Summer reading log and picture are due by Thursday, September 1 Booklists Available At: Cuyahoga County Public Library (Brook Park, Berea, Middleburg Heights) Each elementary school s websites Your school office in June and August (starting Aug. 10) Suggestions: Please understand that the titles listed are just suggested readings.
