Mechanical Engineering Department UET KSK WON All Pakistan AirEx 12 Innovation GIKI The students of Mechanical Engineering Department KSK Campus, UET have won the Air Ex 12 Innovation Challenge by showing their extra ordinary performance in the international event. The Air Ex 12 & International Leadership summit was Organized American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics - GIKI Chapter held at Gulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering, Sciences & Technology (GIKI). The event was held from 30 Nov. 2 nd December 2012.The students of Mechanical Engineering Department won the 5 modules out of total 8 modules. They got 1 st Position in Sky Wars Competition, 1 st Position in Boomerang Challenge, 1 st Position in Air Lanterns and 1 st Position in Beat Gravity. In addition, Mr. Zeeshan Ahmad Sandhu, student of Final year B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering, KSK won the title of Best Ambassador among the 30 national and international institutes. The Wright Way has been tagged a gleaming burnish in the performance of the institute. In this event the students from 38 national and international institutes from 6 countries participated and showed their technical abilities. The unbelievable gathering of 380 participants of 68 teams created an outstanding mention. Air Ex 12 Championship award in Air Ex 12 AIAA GIKI Chapter Air Ex 12 Champions (2 nd year B.Sc. Mech. Engg. KSK)
1 st Position in Air Lanterns module in Air Ex 12 AIAA GIKI Chapter Hot air balloons are simply envelopes capable of containing hot air; as the hot air is lighter, these envelopes tend to rise into the atmosphere. It is one of the oldest of flight technologies. Hence, to promote its awareness, AIAA GIKI Chapter brought this opportunity to implement theoretical knowledge in a contest of designing and building hot air balloons. The balloon was constructed during the allotted time only with the provided materials including sheets of tissue paper, chart papers, thin metal wires, glue, scissors, tape and candles. Syed Ahmad, UsmanAslam,Ali Fahad,AsifSarwar,HammadShafique (2 nd Year B.Sc. Mech. Engg. KSK)
1 st Position in Boomerang module in Air Ex 12 AIAA GIKI Chapter In this contest, students had to design, build and fly a unique returning rotating wing, more commonly known as a Boomerang. For the layman, a boomerang was a flying tool with a curved shape used as a weapon or for sport; it is famous tool as it returns to the position from which it is thrown. This behavior is due to the creation of unbalanced aerodynamic forces produced in flight and causes the boomerang to fly in a curved (elliptical) path. Shoaib Ahmed,NabeelImtiaz,Ali Usman, Hassan Anwar,ArifSarwar (3rd Year B.Sc. Mech. Engg. KSK)
1 st Position in Beat Gravity module in Air Ex 12 AIAA GIKI Chapter For the layman, a boomerang was a flying tool with a curved shape used as a weapon or for sport; it is famous tool as it returns to the position from which it is thrown. Shoaib Ahmed,NabeelImtiaz,Ali Usman, Hassan Anwar,ArifSarwar (3rd Year B.Sc. Mech. Engg. KSK)
1 st Position in Sky Wars module in Air Ex 12 AIAA GIKI Chapter The mission of this module was to design a water bottle rocket capable of covering the longest horizontal distance, without violating the given specific launch criteria. While the module promotes space propulsion awareness, Sky Wars also serves as a platform to familiarize students with the basic principles of rocketry, design engineering and manufacturing engineering. Participants designed and manufactured a water rocket using a 1.5/2.25 Liter bottle as the pressure vessel. The rocket was capable of launching from the Water Rocket Launcher given specific launch criteria. UsmanMunir,SharjeelHafeezWattoo,Abil Nawaz,Meer Paras,Amir Ghafoor (3rd Year B.Sc. Mech. Engg. KSK)
Best Ambassador in Air Ex 12 AIAA GIKI Chapter ZeeshanAnjumSandhu from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, UET Lahore, KSK Campushas awarded as a Best Ambassador among the 30 national and international institutes. ZEESHAN ANJUMSANDHU (Final Year B.Sc. Mech. Engg. KSK)
After the Outstanding Mention In the history of UET, the students of UET KSK have shown a marvelous performance by showing their incredible technical skills in the field of engineering. About 3 months, 4 days and 6 hours, the supervision of enthusiastic advisorsthe students have played their role.
