3 1.Introduction Ground test is one of the many safety tests for the electronic appliances, that is required by certification agencies as the proof of an instrument s ability to withstand power line spikes without resulting in a hazard to itself or the users. For examples, lighting, drastic load changes or power line outages, all of the above conditions will accompany with short duration spikes on power line. A good grounding setup should be able to divert any leakage to the chassis without getting damage, hence it will not bring in lethal results.

AC 8V Typically Resistance Function Two ranges, 0 to 0.1 and 0 to 0.5 Output Accuracy Subtracting Value Set 5% of full scale The setting range is from 0 to 0.1 or from 0 to 0.5, The accuracy is 5% Warning Set The setting range is from 3A to 35A. If the test current is beyond 10% of the setting value then the warning operation will processed. Time Set There are four selection ranges: 1 S, 10 S, 1 Min. and 10Min. REMOTE Control Output Signal READY: TEST: GO: The STOP and START is low active control MONITOR: DC, 0V to 10V ( Full Scale) When the CG-503 is not in testing When the CG-503 is in testing When the test result shows PASS, then the CG-503 output a 50 ms of pulse NG: When the test result large than the Warning Set, the CG-503 output a continuous signal. WARNING: When the current value large than the 10% of default value

5 3. Panel Function Overview 3.1 Front Panel: 1.POWER ON/OFF Main Power Switch 2.REMOTE Remote Connector (Refer to the chapter 4. Operation Instructions) 3.TIMER To select the Timer, on or off 4.RANGE To select the range setting of OHM meter, 0.1 or HI-LIMIT 6.OFFSET To set the GO/NOGO resistance threshold value. If the measured value is greater than the SETTING VALUE, then the NG light will come on, beep, and the NG relay on the rear panel disables the CG-503 testing automatically When the button is ON, all the measured value subtracts the 7.OFFSET SET OFFSET VALUE automatically. To set the OFFSET VALUE 8.TEST MODE To select CONTINUE (to test) mode or NORMAL (to stop) mode when the measured current value sits outside the range of 10% of the default value

6 9.WARNING To set the testing current range. STOP/START light Stop/Start testing. TEST LIGHT When the CG-503 runs the test procedure, the TEST LIGHT lights on. GO LIGHT When the measured value of the OHM is less then the default WARNING LIGHT value,the GO LIGHT lights on and CG-503 beeps. When the measured value sits outside the range of NG LIGHT 10% of the default value, the WARING LIGHT lights on and the CG-503 changes to the mode on the MODE selection. When the measured resistance value is greater than the default value,the NG LIGHT lights on, the CG-503 beeps and stops testing automatically.

Operation Instructions 4.1 Check items before using Check the correct voltage of the Line Voltage selector Check the OHM and current meter are at the 0 position Current is set to the minimal value to avoid current overload 4.2 Testing Steps Step 1. Set the TIMER OFF Step 2. Select 0.5 Scale Step 3. Set the HI-LIMIT value Push the OFFSET button to adjust HI-LIMIT and VALUE VR NOTE: It must be reset when the 0.5 /0.1 scale was changed. Step 4. Set OFFSET value Push OFFSET button and adjust the OFFSET VALUE VR. Be sure to subtract the wire resistance effect when using 2-WIRE configuration NOTE: a) It must be reset after changing 0.5 /0.1 scale b) If the setting value large than the measured value, the OHM meter display zero scale. Step 5. Set the CURRENT SET Let the measured value located inside the range of 10% of default value. Push the CURRENT SET button to adjust the CURRENT VALUE VR Step 6. Select the TEST MODE When the warning lights on, select continue or stop test Step 7. Set the TIMER SET Set the time of testing or select control by manual Step 8. Testing connecting configuration

Push the START button to run 4.3 REMOTE control The setting procedure is as the same as the testing steps, the configuration details as following: Pin 1 When in TEST status, the output terminator connected to a 1.5k 1/4W resister. Pin 2 Connect to ground Pin 3 When the function from START change to STOP, the CG-503 sends a 5 ms pulse output Pin 4 When in START status, the Pin 4 is connected to Pin 2 Pin 5 When in STOP status, the Pin 5 is connected to Pin 2
