2 Agenda Introduction - Experimentation through video Objectives and resources Needs and Issues First feedback Tests in progress Studies to be launched regarding Aircraft connectivity Today : Communication & Connectivity around an aircraft Tomorrow : Improve inter-business communication around an aircraft and merge Voice and data + Video Tomorrow : create connectivity on aircraft taxiing before or after the parking stand Next Steps Macro planning Q & A
3 Introduction - Experimentation through video
4 Objectives and resources Objectives Prepare in the medium term the migration of Tetra and WIFI network on LTE Pro network, for professional usage, on our major Airline Hubs (Roissy CDG & Orly). Resources Temporary Allocation by French Regulation authority (ARCEP) of 20 MHz in Frequency Range 2.6 GHz since November 1 st of Partnership with Telecom suppliers Operational implementation for our businesses Internal Mobilisation of businesses, IT Radio Experts, Security, Deployment, Development, Network, Communication etc.
5 Needs and Issues Better operational performance required by our businesses Obsolescence of our Tetra radio network ( communications per day). WiFi no more appropriate (technical aspect, financials) Significant increase of video usage and digitizing of our operational businesses Control of our critical communications in CDG & ORY internally kept Engineering control (skills) Exploitation control (operations) Costs management Infrastructure flexibility in order to answer current and future operational usage : (voice and data, video, IOT, 5G) LTE Pro Network implementation : project launched by Air France as well as others companies AGURRE Association created since Implementation of action plan to address usage evolution and to obtain frequency resources Discussions with Public Authorities (Ministry of Interior, ARCEP, ANFR, Ministry of Economy)
6 First feedback «high quality of reception within covered area» «cockpit and cabin connectivity OK» «successful test either with IPAD and Scanners (ground services)» Connectivity OK In the passenger boarding bridge «less use of battery on tablets (Aircraft engineering & maintenance)» «Not necessary to connect again after a network disconnection» «Form factor (device + 4G key) not deployable as it is» «Tablets much less heat» «Luggage application : better performance compared to WIFI and public network connection»
7 Tests in Progress MCPTT Tests Extension (6 months + 6 months) of frequency allocation by Arcep (april 18 to october 18) Tetra/LTE interconnection Real Life situation usage by AF E&M Mixed SIM Cards to test To be able to connect at the end the onboard devices (plane, crew t ablets) on private network in Roissy but on public network in the other airports
8 Today : communication & connectivity around an aircraft Public Network VHF Aircraft Crew onboard Tetra Private network Data centers (operational & critical applications) Wifi Private SSID Operational staff
9 Tomorrow : Improve inter-business communication around an aircraft and merge Voice and data + Video Crew onboard Operational staff Data centers (operational & critical applications)
10 Tomorrow : create connectivity on aircraft taxiing before or after the parking stand Voice & Video & Data Voice & Video & Data Crew onboard (IPAD & Smartphones) & Aircraft Voice & Video & Data Operational staff connected through (LTE) Voice Video Chat tooling
11 Next Steps - Macro planning Full convergence (voice, data, video) Connected Aircraft through Private network. ORY/CDG: Outdoor infra ORY/CDG: Indoor infra MCPTT Iot (Critical) 5G Smooth Migration from Tetra to 4G Renewal of hardened End User Devices (2.6 GHz compatibility) Migration IOT and 5G
