3 ABOUT THE BLADELIGHT Thank you for Purchasing the FloLight BladeLight. The BladeLight comes in 36 and 18 sizes. The BladeLight is available in 5600k DayLight, 3200k Tungsten, Bi-Color, and Green for use with a Greenscreen. The BladeLight features a linear array of high powered LEDs that allow the BladeLight to be the first LED Panel light to be cut like a standard Fresnel. It s unique open-faced LED bulbs allow the beam angle to be incredibly versatile; going from 120 as a wide flood light, and by using the provided Lens in the Lens Channel system you can shift the beam angle to 60, and a 20 incredibly focused spot light. The BladeLight s unique length allow the light to wrap around your subject, creating a softbox effect when lined up opposite the angle of your subject, or by lining the BladeLight up with the angle of your subject you can get a hard light with more defined shadows. These are just a few of the features that the FloLight BladeLight offers out of the box. Do not touch the open faced bulbs on the BladeLight with bare hands. Only clean the BladeLight bulbs with a dry, non-static, microfiber cloth. Do not apply excess force to the Open-Faced LED Bulbs. Use care and the proper cover when handling the BladeLight, the power draw can make the BladeLight warm to the touch.

Use the dimmer to set the lumen output level of the LED strip For easy transport place your BladeLight into the Soft or Hard (Travel) case. *Carry case may vary in size, shape material, and color for different models and kits Carabiner clip Mounting Plate Barndoors Use the carbiner clip that is attached to the power supply to secure the power supply to a C-Stand or Light stand Attach the pin pertruding off the mounting plate into either side of the double ball mount. The 4 outter screws allow the plate s position to be adjusted The barndoors on the 18 and 36 are removable. The barndoors can be tightened, to provide a stiff close. Use the barndoors to cut the light or clip gels onto the barndoors.

5 Quick Start Guide pg.4 1. Attach the double ball mount to the 5/8 pin on the back of your BladeLight, tighten the screw. Attach double ball mount other end to your stand, plate, or mount and tighten the screw. Loosen the Lever to adjust the mount. The double ball mount allows the light to be rotated a full 360, tilted, or put into just about any position possible. Lock the mount into place with the side lever. 2. Open the barndoors and remove the Lens, precut Zircon diffusion, and Gels. Place them aside, to shape, stylize, and add warmth to your light after it s set up. *Do not remove or peel the layer of diffusion on the back of the Lens. Do not place the lens in the lowest channel closest to the LED strip 3. Plug the AC Power Supply into an outlet. Use the carabiner hook to attach the BladeLight to your Light Stand or C-Stand. Plug the 4 pin xlr into back of the BladeLight. *Do not look directly into the BladeLight when powering it on, or when it is pwered on at anytime. 4. Use the Dimmer knob to adjust the lumen output of your BladeLight. Use the on/off switch to turn the BladeLight on or off after your desired lumen output is set, to preserve the light levels in-between use(s). 5. Slide precut diffusion into place when cutting the BladeLight. 6 Basic Features pg.5 Linear Strip of LEDs The BladeLight uses a Linear strip of high powered LED lights. Cut light Sharply The Linear Strip allows the BladeLight to be cut like a Fresnel. Use the barndoors, flags or other tools to cut the light. Use the Barndoors to clip on Gels or Diffusion to create a larger surface for the light to hit. This will make the light even more like a softbox in the horizontal position (Or lined up with your subject). Stackable Lighting All of the BladeLights have removable barndoors, which allows them to be stacked from Top to bottom or from side to side, for endless possible lighting setup. Using Barndoors Position of the BladeLight As a Key or Fill light: Using your BladeLight to create a Soft Light Rotate the angle of the BladeLight Opposite the Angle of your Subject, to create a wrap around softbox look. As a Backlight: you can evenly light your subjects head and shoulders to effectively separate them from the background. As a Key or Fill Light: Using your BladeLight to create a Harder Light Adding Gels and Diffusion Use the top 2 Channels of the BladeLight for Gels and Diffusion Strips. You can slide your Gels into the BladeLight - with your Provided Gel Holder You can slide the precut Diffusion Filter in to one of the top 2 channels without the Gel Holder Rotate the BladeLight and Line it up with the Angle of your subject to create a harder key and fill look. As a Backlight: you can evenly light your subject from head to toe, for a taller backlight.

7 Basic Features pg.5 BladeLight Lens System The BladeLight features a removable Lens system that allows for the Open Faced LEDs to produce a 120 Beam Angle (Wide Open Flood) with no lens in place a 60 Beam angle by placing the lens in the Middle Channel and a 20 Beam Angle (Spot Light) by placing the Lens in the Top Channel. The Lens should never be placed in the lowest channel, because this could damage the LED strip. No Lens Beam Angle Remove the Lens Completely for a Wide Open 120 (Flood) beam angle. Lens in Middle Channel 60 Beam Angle Slide the Lens into the Middle Channel for a more controlled 60 beam angle. Lens in Top Channel 20 Beam Angle Slide the Lens into the Top Channel for a spot light 20 Beam Angle

8 Basic Features pg.5 Open Faced LED BladeLight The Nature of Open Faced LEDs The BladeLights unique Open Faced LEDs and Lens system allow the Light to be one of the most flexible lights available. The ability to shift from a wide open 120 flood light, by removing the lens, to a 20 spot light by placing the lens in the top channel, would be impossible in a standard LED Panel light. Because of the nature of Open Faced LED Lights, or any open faced source of Light, meaning a Light without a lens or diffusion in front of it, when it is cut or flagged, color fringing occurs (The light changes in color around the cut). Covered LED LED Panel Eliminating color fringing Eliminating color fringing is as simple as adding any type of diffusion or the Lens to your BladeLight. A. Shooting Open Faced with No Diffusion or Lens in place creates color fringing along the cut of the light. B. Shooting with the Lens in the Top Channel at a 20 Beam Angle, allows the light to be cut with no color fringing occuring. C. Shooting only with the Precut Diffusion in Place over the Open Face LEDs allows the light to be cut with no color fringing occuring. A. Color Fringing occurs when the Light is being cut or flagged, and the Open Faced LED Strip is not diffused or does not have the Lens in one of the top 2 channels. B. Placing the Lens in one of the 2 available channels eliminates any color fringing that may occur. C.Diffusing the BladeLight by placing diffusion in front of the open faced LED strip, will eliminate any color fringing that may occur.
