COPRA RF 2015 Release Notes Dear customer, This new release of COPRA RF version 2015 is not only setting the foundation for future developments, but is also supplying new technologies for both flower and roll design. One of the main highlight is the new and revolutionary SmartRoll design feature. Not only allowing very quick roll design, this new technology offers many possibilities for an easy adaptation of: Roll diameter Roll width Roll gap Relief angles And more During roll design and editing, all parameters such as roll diameter, roll width and datum are shown dynamically. For a specific change, grid parameters, (SNAPS), can be defined, allowing fixed value changes, e.g. the roll width in increments of 5 mm. Although the final roll contour is a polyline, which can also be modified with AutoCAD commands, the SmartRoll command supplies an extremely important feature: during any change the transitions between lines and arcs are kept tangential! This allows complex changes of the roll contour without the need to delete and re-insert individual radii. Due to these possibilities some roll modifications can be conducted in 10 seconds that would normally take 2 minutes when using standard construction possibilities. This very powerful feature and can reduce roll design times by up to 50%, as it is no longer necessary to use AutoCAD features like construction lines or the LINE and OFFSET command. The roll design can be made using only the SmartRolls environment. It makes a lot of additional mouse clicks obsolete! Of course this is not the only improvement there are a lot of other useful new possibilities, including: Simple data exchange between projects with copy & paste Automatic adjustment of roll designs when the finished profile changes, for example with product variants A new, modern data model for the projects that allows simple working across different COPRA RF projects And many more On the following pages you will find a summary of the most important new features and improvements. Your data M team Valley, 7 July 2015 v

COPRA RF 2015 SR1 COPRA RF 2015 SR1 General Information We would like to thank all of our customers who gave us some great feedback on COPRA RF; this has allowed us to identify some additional improvement opportunities. With this unique feedback we are able to develop a focused COPRA RF so that all users can benefit. We also would like to thank you for your loyalty as a customer and your feedback about this release. The following commands and functions have been updated: 1. General Information Compatibility with Windows 10 together with AutoCAD 2016 SP1 The new COPRA InfoCenter can be used local or online New options: + Show InfoCenter at COPRA -Start + Use Online-Help + Use Online-InfoCenter By using the option DwgName = Projectname drawings opened by the user will not be saved automatically with the Projectname into the COPRA -Temp-Directory when a COPRA -function is being used Inserted rolls from database are checked when the project is saved. If there is a conflict, it can be solved in a dialog. A conflict exists, if a local referenced database roll is older than in the database. The Shaped Tubes Module can be used with 2015-projects. When inserting a station with tools, the original rolls are not moved to the new station anymore. The database is checked each time COPRA is initialized. User query if automatic saving/archiving can activated optionally. For pass and project change in 2013-projects the user query for saving is reactivated. Crimps/Craws position gets updated if there is change in strip width over the stations. When inserting stations in 2015-projects, info parts get copied and not referenced anymore. When inserting stations with option Insert tools in 2015-projects, the roll attributes are also copied. 10

COPRA RF 2015 SR1 CADFinder 2. CADFinder Intermittent problems when editing documents are fixed Revision dialog is shown again when automatically created documents like assembly plan or NC-Data are updated The automatic Revision mechanism will also be applied on automatic created documents, even if the content has not been changed. This allows e.g. the subsequent adaptation of drawing templates. Drag&Drop in CADFinder is activated again. 3. Single Roll Dimensioning Correct radius dimensioning of left side rolls Intersecting diameter dimensioning of side and accessory rolls is now possible 4. List of Material / Cutting List Referenced (cloned) rolls are considered in 2015-projects The Roll Comment from the Roll Attributes is logged in the cutting- and material list 5. Assembly Plan Dimensioning Info parts in 2015-projects are not referenced to the temporary directory anymore 6. FTM Rolls can be displayed in ACAD 2015/16 7. Rolls Rolls with fixed roll number can optionally be taken into account for automatic roll numbering. In this case the number of the fixed roll cannot be taken into account. For public rolls, stock rolls and multiple referenced rolls the layer and color can be defined 11

COPRA RF 2015 SR1 Roll Search When transferring roll attributes to another axis (e.g. from left to right or top to bottom) the position of side depending attributes will be kept (e.g. top remains top ). Symmetrical attributes will be shown at both sides. Roll attributes can be mirrored in 2015-projects. Rolls with fixed attributes can also be optional marked in 2015-projects. Attribute panel gets updated for each activity Adopted functionality of Classic change of angle at roll entities to SmartRoll behaviour Positioning of combi roll marker is optimized Rolls position of horizontal accessory axis is maintained when converting from 2013 to 2015 format Mirror side rolls to the right also possible in 2015-project Attributes depending on a roll face are also handled in 2015 projects when copying individual rolls to another axis. Intermittent problems when joining rolls in 2015-projects is fixed Classic change of width with option overlap on both sides now possible The layer for the bottom rolls is correct again Copying rolls from 2013 projects to 2015 projects is possible Read pass order also possible in 2015-project The roll attribute dialog can read cda2 and cda files in 2015-projects Increased accuracy of Inch version Default material can be set for spacers in 2015-projects 8. Roll Search Attributes for the roll search can be individually switched on or off New attributes for joining and intersecting diameter Tolerances for attributes can be set 12

COPRA RF 2015 SR1 Smart Rolls Number of decimals can be set If only 1 segment is selected within SmartRoll search, the direction of the roll (start / end of roll) is defined by the relative position of the point picked. 9. Smart Rolls Undo / Redo is now always available when creating a roll In a station without any main axes it s now possible to create a roll for an accessory axis By using the new option Select axis a roll can also be created for an accessory axis On the mirrored (virtual) side of a profile the creation of a roll is also available now When creating a roll, the current reference settings are not automatically reset anymore Improved dynamic display of design information 13

COPRA RF 2015 SR1 RLM Representation (color, highlight) of found rolls can be set Additional options for exact / extended search of rolls The dynamic roll search can be started anytime during roll editing 10. RLM Spacers in bill of material can be fade out When placing an order the number for order count can be set across multiple rolls The roll search user interface was revised (roll number and combi roll set as filter, tolerances, decimal places, take value from CAD, display options, ) 14

COPRA RF 2015 SR2 COPRA RF 2015 SR2 Higher accuracy in parametric projects We would like to thank all of our customers who gave us some great feedback on COPRA RF; this has allowed us to identify some additional improvement opportunities. With this unique feedback we are able to develop a focused COPRA RF so that all users can benefit. We also would like to thank you for your loyalty as a customer and your feedback about this release. The following commands and functions have been updated: 1. Higher accuracy in parametric projects The accuracy for drawing of the contour was increased for parametric projects. The export is now also done with high accuracy. This should fix some problems concerning the SolidWorks interface. 2. COPRA with AutoCAD 2016 and Windows 32bit When using COPRA RF 2015 with AutoCAD bit the system had stability issues. These are fixed now. Independent from that COPRA RF 2015 is officially only supporting Windows 64bit. 3. Old database projects It is now possible to open (old) data base projects based on Access without the necessity that COPRA is connected with the respective data base. 4. Assembly Plans The toggle title block is active even if the drawing frame was deactivated 5. RLM Data Base: time for checking conflicts reduced When a RLM data base project is opened an automatic check for conflicts is conducted that is showing the differences between the local design state and the design state in the data base. This is now done significantly faster. 6. COPRA Options Additional option if rolls with fixed numbers should be counted Option for colour and line weight to highlight rolls and roll entities After changing the size of the dialogue the scroll bar is still visible 16

COPRA RF 2015 SR2 Accessory axes 7. Accessory axes Roll position and moving of rolls is now working also with horizontal or vertical accessory axes. 8. Convert database parametric projects When mirroring project (horizontal or vertical) it could happen that the mirror line for Flower and rolls were not identical. (if unfolding point and reference line were different). Fixed. 9. Profile from AutoCAD, parametric projects The unfolding point was set wrong when the 1 st entity was selected with the option before entity. Fixed. 10. Local CADFinder data base the local CADFinder data base is updated automatically when a new installation of COPRA is made. If the local data base should be used but is not installed it is now created correctly During the automatic backup the last Backup will no longer be overwritten but a new one will be created. The status Expanded / Retracted is saved now. After deleting a project CADFinder is now switching to a project that is not processed by another user. If during startup of COPRA RF is detected that the CADFinder data base is empty, then a possibly available backup from the COPRA Root Directory can be used. 11. Deleting multiple passes in 2015 projects in SpreadSheet When deleting multiple passes (profiles and rolls) in SpreadSheet and applying an Undo afterwards, it could happen that some inconsistencies appeared. Fixed. 12. Define Reference Line The User Coordinate System is set correct now for all cases. 17

COPRA RF 2015 SR2 Tube Mill Program with 2015 projects 13. Tube Mill Program with 2015 projects The automatic Roll Design in the Tubemill Program is now possible also in 2015 projects in any combination. 14. Read Archive Under specific circumstances Windows is creating a hidden Index file (Thumbs.DB) in directories containing pictures. This file is write protected. Due to the file extension it is automatically added to the Archive file. During extracting (Read Archive file) it could happen that an inconsistent data base was created as the Index file could not be overwritten. Fixed. 15. Inventor Interface the stamping groove of the rolls is transferred now all rolls in the Fin Passes have the correct orientation now 16. SolidWorks Import Creating of a project no longer stops after the 1 st roll was imported. 17. SpreadSheet delete passes Now the selected pass is deleted and not the pass resulting from the next change. 18. Write data base files in a Network In networks with a specific setup the access rights of two data base files were changed after writing. As a consequence it could happen that roll modifications could not be saved. When opening this project again the old design state was shown. Fixed. 19. Rolls 19.1 Roll Number of accessory rolls in 2015 projects Under specific circumstances (angle range) it could happen that the wrong roll number was created (drawings, cut- and material list etc.). Fixed 18

COPRA RF 2015 SR2 Rolls 19.2 Command Delete Roll Roll numbers When using the settings Roll number continuously per station or Roll number continuously per machine a complete redraw is conducted after deleting a roll. A manual refresh of the roll number is obsolete Command Create Roll in 2015 projects When the 1 st roll was picked twice, all rolls on this axis were joined. Fixed Command Split Roll in 2015 projects A redraw is only conducted once after using this command Command Paste attributes in 2015 projects Multiple pasting of roll attributes now also possible in 2015 projects SmartRolls, copy & move of grouped / cloned rolls The information about the group / clone status is now maintained when copying or moving a roll to another axis Roll Attributes in 2015 projects Although the roll number was fixed it could happen in a few cases that the roll number could not be adapted in 2015 projects. Fixed Automatic Roll Adaptation In 2013 projects the automatic roll adaptation could cause an undo of the previous changes. Sometimes the reference line was not visible (in both 2013 and 2015 projects), a Redraw had to be done. Both issues are fixed Accessory Rolls in 2015 projects After copying a roll on an accessory axis it could happen that the roll was visible only after a COPRA Redraw. Fixed Copy and Paste Rolls in 2015 projects The command Paste Rolls is now included in the Undo transaction Usage list for Rolls In the Roll Attribute Dialogue also a Usage List for Rolls can be shown 19

COPRA RF 2015 SR2 Rolls Change Roll Angle, classic approach The position of the dialogue box is maintained now Roll attributes in 2015 projects When the default status of the describing attribute (stamping groove, bearings, retaining rings marked with an asterisk) is changed, the default status of all subsequent attributes is also changed automatically Search for Rolls in RLM data base To insert or replace a roll from the search result there are now 2 options available: Insert Roll and apply immediately and Replace roll and apply immediately Import Rolls into RLM data base After the Import into the RLM data base Rolls are now automatically published Open RLM data base project without having a RLM- license It is now possible to open RLM data base projects in read only mode without having a license Check for multiple roll numbers (different Roll Geometry, same Roll Number) Basically it is possible to assign the same roll number to different roll contours (manually and automatically). This may have specific reasons, but it also could happen unintended or by mistake. Following a few examples: When assigning roll numbers manually When fixing roll numbers manually (a roll with an automatically created roll number is fixed manually and a new roll with automatic roll number is inserted before that roll) When fixing roll numbers automatically (previously done when grouping / cloning rolls; from this version on the automatic fixing of roll numbers can be disabled) When a data base roll with the same roll number is inserted in the project In case the manually defined roll numbering rules are not distinct in terms of stations 20

COPRA RF 2015 SR2 Rolls To avoid that roll geometries eventually get mixed up a routine to check roll numbers against roll contours was introduced. The checking for number doubles is done before executing the following functions: Approve project Single Roll Dimensioning Assembly Plan Dimensioning Material List / Cut List / Roll Weight NC Geometry Data Order Bill of Material If multiple roll numbers are detected a warning is shown with the respective roll numbers so that the user can decide if he wants to continue or to resolve the conflict. In addition a few mechanisms have been added to avoid multiple roll numbers already during design Handling of grouped / referenced rolls: Referenced (cloned) rolls will have dynamic roll numbers assigned by default. In previous versions it was always fixed. For the 1 st (referenced) roll existing in the project an automatic roll number will be defined according to the defined rules. All other rolls referencing to this roll will have the same roll number. These rolls will not be taken into account for the dynamic roll number calculation. This way it is made sure that no roll number gaps and no multiple roll numbers appear. NEW OLD Insert Roll Insert Roll 21

COPRA RF 2015 SR2 Rolls New: blue and orange referenced rolls will automatically get new roll numbers after inserting a new roll on the left side. No multiple roll numbers will be created! Old: the new roll on the left side gets the number 3-T-1 assigned, for all following referenced rolls the existing roll number is conserved. For this reason unintended multiple roll numbers and gaps in roll numbering could be created COPRA copy /insert When inserting a roll the options available are to create a copy of that roll or to make it a referenced roll; if the roll is inserted as a copy, now a dynamic roll number will be assigned Publish Roll It is no longer possible to publish a roll with a number that is already existing in the data base. This makes sure that no multiple roll numbers (rolls with the same roll number and different geometry) are existing in the published roll pool Split Roll When a roll with fixed roll number is split, only one of the new created two rolls will have the original fixed roll number. The 2 nd one will get a dynamic roll number assigned Opening an existing 2015 project The dynamic roll numbering is not automatically activated when opening a 2015 project. This means that the same roll numbers will be displayed as last saved. Only when applying a change, the automatic roll numbering will be enabled again. This makes sure that the roll numbers are not changed despite different personal settings when only viewing a project Modification of data base rolls (already existing in stock - published) When changing a RLM data base roll an additional option is available now: a copy of the roll can be created. 22

COPRA RF 2015 SR2.1 COPRA RF 2015 SR2.1 General We would like to thank all of our customers who gave us some great feedback on COPRA RF; this has allowed us to identify some additional improvement opportunities. With this unique feedback we are able to develop a focused COPRA RF so that all users can benefit. We also would like to thank you for your loyalty as a customer and your feedback about this release. The following commands and functions have been updated: 1. General For 2015 projects the maximum number of rolls was increased to 2500 Significant acceleration of the COPRA Redraw compared to COPRA RF 2015 SR2 in projects if the roll number is calculated with the option Roll numbers continuously per machine 2. CAD-Interface Accuracy of the CAD interface was improved Inventor Interface: in projects with referenced / cloned rolls and spacer rings no more wrong rolls are created in an assembly, when the creation is done WITHOUT spacer rings. SolidWorks Interface: program crashed with referenced / cloned rolls. Fixed. 3. Overlying rolls In case of overlying rolls the position for the roll marking (roll number, roll weight) is now be optimized. 4. NC code with of referenced / grouped rolls When creating the NC code the representation of referenced / grouped rolls is now neutral. No marking with a different line thickness and color will be done (2015 projects only) 5. Roll entities from polyline The function entities from polyline is now also implemented for projects 23

COPRA RF 2015 SR2.1 Roll entities with crosshairs 6. Roll entities with crosshairs The function entities with crosshairs is now also implemented for projects 7. DTM forming length The forming length is also calculated for rotated side rolls and accessory rolls 8. Multiple roll numbers Check for multiple roll numbers: the respective message box only shows rolls with the same roll number but different roll geometry. Optionally this message can be switched off. (2015 project) 9. Roll weight In case the roll weight cannot we calculated the hint NaN (Not a Number) is shown. 10. Copying rolls When copying rolls fixed roll numbers are maintained in projects 11. Loading Archive file Fixed roll numbers are maintained in projects when loading an Archive file 12. RLM Roll search RLM Roll Lifecycle Management: for projects standard tolerances (length, angle radius) can be defined for the RLM roll search. 13. RLM Publish all rolls of the project RLM Roll Lifecycle Management: before the function publish all rolls of the project is executed it needs to be confirmed in a project 14. RLM Replacing roll(s) RLM Roll Lifecycle Management: if a grouped / referenced roll is replaced by a roll found in the RLM data base, then all rolls of this referenced group are replaced in projects 24

COPRA RF 2015 SR2.1 Cut list 15. Cut list Cut list could not be generated when a project had more than 1000 rolls. Fixed 16. Roll Design create Axes automatically with option Adapt roll diameter The accuracy of the Trim- function was increased. This way negative polyline entities will not be created any more. 17. Numbers for superosed spacer rings The numbers for spacer rings overlying with rolls on accessory axes are now determined correct in projects. 18. Roll Attributes The values for Retaining rings and Bearing type had to be entered twice in projects because the first input was set to 0 again. Fixed. The values for the Stamping groove in the positions Right and Bottom could not be modified in projects. Fixed. The checkmark Default / Fixed does not have to be selected twice any more in projects. 19. Insert spacer rings automatically Insert spacer rings automatically at overlying rolls: the outer roll contour was not always detected correctly. Fixed. 20. Roll-Entities for current pass The function Entities for current pass supplies the correct results in projects also for accessory rolls when working in Inches. 21. Modification of project attributes After the modification of project attributes the rolls will be renumbered automatically in projects. 22. RLM: Insert RLM Rolls mirrored When inserting rolls from the search result the inserted roll was often mirrored wrong (preview of the polyline and roll inserted did not match) in projects. 25

COPRA RF 2015 SR2.1 RLM: Insert Roll / Replace Roll 23. RLM: Insert Roll / Replace Roll Insert Roll / Replace Roll is working correctly now 24. Conversion of rolls to spacer rings or vice versa After the conversion of rolls to spacer rings or vice versa the rolls are now renumbered automatically in projects from version SR Splitting of rolls The splitting of rolls at polylines being perpendicular to the roll axis was partly not at the position selected. Fixed. 26. COPRA Zipping tool The COPRA Zipping tool (7zip) has been updated to the newest version (7-Zip ( )) due to security issues. 27. Project info dialog COPRA crashed after leaving the project info dialog by OK in CRF 2015 SR2 (fixed now) 28. Converting projects from 2015 to 2013 The project is saved automatically before converting now. This ensures, that even projects written by older COPRA versions are converted correctly. Otherwise maybe some roll contours are missing. 29. Assemblyplan In CRF 2015 SR2 in some cases accessory rolls were missing (fixed now). 30. Single roll dimensioning Side- and accessory rolls could not be hatched in full section view (2015 projects, freedesigned rolls) 26

COPRA RF 2015 SR2.1 Tube mill 31. Tube mill If rolls were generated in a project, that have already spacers, the newly generated rolls got the identity of the spacers (fixed now) 32. Adding contour(s) on rolls Problems with adding contour(s) on rolls at right side axis are fixed now. 33. Default attributes for spacer rings Default attributes are also available for spacer rings in 2015 projects now. With projects there was up to now no possibility to define default attributes for spacer rings. Spacer ring attributes could be adapted subsequently by using the attribute grid or more comfortable with the attribute table. In COPRA RF 2015 SR2.1 default spacer attributes depending on the axis type are now available for projects. Projects created with version SR2.1 can still be opened with older versions of COPRA. Additional spacer default attributes as far as they are different from the default roll attributes cannot be displayed in older COPRA versions based on projects. Nevertheless it is possible to exchange data between different versions of COPRA without loss of information when fixing all spacer ring attributes. If the spacer ring attributes were not fixed before using an older version of COPRA, then some specific attribute information may be lost. 27
