Depress this tab to free the switch from the microscope Photo a Photo b Cut the connections to the power switch, and remove it from the scope by using a flathead screwdriver to depress the tabs on the side of the switch, as indicated in the left image, and push it outward from the scope. Once the plate is removed, cut the connections to the potentiometer and remove it from the microscope by unscrewing the two screws that hold it in place.

When installing the potentiometer, ensure that it is in the correct orientation.

Old recepticle Potentiometer Photo 5a Photo 5b Install the new potentiometer using the two M x 6mm screws and the.5mm hex key provided. When installing the potentiometer, ensure that it is in the correct orientation. If installed correctly, the side of the potentiometer circuit board that says MIN should be on the left side of the potentiometer opening. When this is completed, remove the backing on the new front plate and install it where the old plate resided. Press the plate along its length to ensure that it has a good bond to the base of the microscope. Re-install the potentiometer knob onto the new potentiometer, ensuring that it is not inserted too far in as to prevent the potentiometer from sliding smoothly. * Note: Left image for potentiometer (PN 078 with an old pin recepticle) is outdated. Replace the condenser lens at the back of the microscope, and then install the adapter plate onto the back of the microscope where the old lamp unit resided. Use your fingernails, if you have them, or tools like a tiny screwdriver or tweezers pushing on the side of the plug to fully insert it (photo ).

9 Nanodyne Replacement Illuminator for Nikon Labophot Microscope - Step 8. Connect the Pot Cable to the Illuminator. Connect the plug at the end of the Pot Cable ssembly to the mating socket of the illuminator, as shown in the pictures on this page. NOTE THT THE PLUG IS KEYED TO ONLY GO INTO THE SOCKET ONE WY, S SHOWN. Partially insert the plug into the mating socket of the illuminator by holding the wire next to the plug with your finger (photo ). Use your fingernails, if you have them, or tools like a tiny screwdriver or tweezers pushing on the side of the plug to fully insert it (photo ). The socket cannot be fully engaged by pushing on the wires, as the wires would just collapse. To disconnect it if needed, pull the wire straight out by firmly gripping the black heat shrink tubing. Secure the illuminator box to the adapter by using the four -56 x 0.5in screws and the 5/6in hex key provided (image ). Note that the screws will install on the four inner holes on the illuminator box. Once this is completed, plug in the potentiometer cable onto the bottom of the illuminator (details were described in page 9) and route any slack cable back into the microscope (image ). fter this is completed, re-install the microscope covers and plug in the illuminator (image ); it is now ready for use.
