3 INTRODUCTION DIAMOND DETECTORS AND SYSTEMS FOR X-RAYS CIVIDEC Instrumentation developed a range of diamond detectors and monitors for the detection of X-rays. The high transmission, low absorption and high thermal conductivity of the metallized single crystal CVD diamond sensor provide the perfect foundation for the detection of a wide range of X-ray intensities. Combining the Diamond XBPM with the dedicated CIVIDEC Electrometer Amplifiers, the following applications are viable for a wide range of X-ray intensities: X-ray beam position monitoring X-ray beam intensity measurements X-ray beam profile measurements To complete the Diamond XBPM Systems, ROSY Applications for all XBPM amplifier combinations are available. All CIVIDEC XBPM detectors are UHV compatible. CIVIDEC Instrumentation GmbH Schottengasse 3A/1/41 A-1010 Vienna, Austria phone: office@cividec.at CIVIDEC Instrumentation I 3

4 A6 Diamond XBPM System A turn-key solution for X-ray beam position monitoring The CIVIDEC X-Ray Beam Position Monitoring System consists of a Diamond XBPM, dedicated Electrometer Amplifiers and the user-friendly Readout System ROSY. Every part of the XBPM System has been optimized in order to achieve the best possible position resolution and facilitate beamline controlling. Dedicated Electrometer In order to offer the best possible resolution, low-noise C8 Electrometer Amplifiers have been developed. To cover a wide range of X-ray intensities, three different amplifiers are available: C8-Pico, C8-Nano and C8-Micro. Superior position resolution The featured Diamond XBPM has a gap size of only 2 μm between the pads, which ensures the best position resolution for X-ray beams 0.1% of the beamsize and nanometer resolution for micrometer beams. Dedicated readout-system The CIVIDEC readout-system ROSY offers real-time signal processing and on-line noise suppression. The data can be either monitored with the GUI (graphical user interface), or read out by the user control system. Linear signal response With the Diamond XBPM System, linear measurements from 5 kev to 25 kev photons in the range of 10 5 to photons/s are viable. Applications X-ray beam position monitoring X-ray beam intensity measurements X-ray beam profile measurements Reference Diamond Light Source The Diamond XBPM System has been developed in cooperation with Diamond Light Source Ltd. It was the goal to produce an XBPM with an excellent position resolution and high transmission at low X-ray energies. Several Diamond XBPMs are already in use at Diamond Light Source Ltd. 6 B9 High-Precision Diamond XBPM for precision X-ray beam position measurements The CIVIDEC Diamond XBPM is a four-quadrant solid-state detector with a wide dynamic range and an unprecedented position resolution in the nanometer range. The Diamond XBPM is suited for X-ray synchrotron beamlines and it is easy to install and use. Excellent X-ray transparency Due to the intrinsic properties of diamond and the dedicated electrodes, this product has an excellent X-ray transparency. The Diamond XBPM allows measurements with high transmission, also at low X-ray energies. Unprecedented resolution The small gap size of 2 μm ensures the best possible position resolution for X-ray beams: the position resolution is 0.1% of the beamsize and therefore in the nanometer range for micro-beams. Extreme conditions The high-end fabrication of the Diamond XBPMs make them viable for applications in UHV vacuum. This results in a long lifetime and in excellent long-term stability of the detector. Linear signal response Another main benefit of the Diamond XBPM is that it allows linear measurements from 5 kev to 25 kev photons in the range of 10 5 to photons/s. Applications X-ray beam position monitoring X-ray beam intensity measurements X-ray beam profile measurement Copyright 2016 These specifications are subject to change without notice. 6 I CIVIDEC Instrumentation
