2 February 2016 Artist of the Month March s theme is Luxury hmmm what can I draw or paint or sculpt to go with that?????? The 52 nd TAL Annual Spring Art Show Take-in April 21 st Show Dates April 22 nd, 23 rd, 24 th Is on the horizon and we need your help getting the word out and getting donations whether monetary, items and/or services to put in our raffle baskets, or food and drinks for the reception. The donation forms all the above and for sponsorship ads for the program are at the TAL awaiting you to pick some up! Please stop by when there is a class going on to get them. There will also be a list of who is going where to ask for donations so hopefully we will not ask someone twice! Oh, and don t forget we need volunteers to man the art show, help set up and break down the art show. Signage is another area we could use help in! 4 CATEGORIES Work may be submitted into the following categories. Oil and Acrylics Watercolor Mixed Media, Fiber Arts, and Collage Photography & Digital Art Sculpture & 3 Dimensional Art Colored Pencil, Graphite, Pen & Ink, Pastels REGULATIONS 1. All artwork must be appropriate for viewing by all ages. 2. All work must be the original work of the submitted artist. No copyrighted work will be accepted unless the submitting artist holds the copyright. No copies, no giclees, no reproductions, or kits will be accepted. 3. The submitted work must have been completed in the last three years and should not have been entered into a TAL Spring Art Show previously. 4. Size for hanging pieces shall be no larger than 48 inches in width or height. 5. Framed entries with glass shall not exceed 20 inches by 24 inches. Larger works that require protection must use Plexiglas or similar material. 6. All hanging work must be framed with the exception of stretched canvas work that has been gallery-wrapped and has no unfinished edges. Work painted on wood panels must have finished and/or painted edges. 7. All hanging work must be ready to hang with securely fastened screw eyes and braided picture wire. Saw tooth hangers will NOT be accepted. 8. All entries must remain on exhibit throughout the show. Artwork which is purchased during the show will be handled on an individual basis. All work must be picked up between 3:00 and 5:00pm on Sunday, April 24 th or a storage and transportation fee of $5 per art work will be assessed. 9. All entrants must be at least 18 years old. 10. Entry of your work into the show implies an agreement that TAL may reproduce images of award winning art (including ribbons) for publicity and/or promotion of the next annual spring art show. Information will be available soon on our website at or contact Candi Hauck, Show Chair at Purchase of Art Work: Art work can be purchased by check or cash, credit cards cannot be accepted. TAL will collect 10% sales fee on any and all purchases. TAL will collect the money for all purchases and remit a check to the artist, less the 10% fee. TAL will not collect sales tax on any sale; artists are responsible for Florida sales tax. Checks for sales will be mailed to the artist. Purchased art work will remain on display in the show until take-out on April 24 th. TAL, Inc. and the American Police Hall of Fame and Museum will exercise reasonable care of entries and provide security personnel throughout the show. Neither the TAL, Inc. nor the American Police Hall of Fame and Museum assume any liability for loss, theft, or damage. TAL is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization, sponsored in part by the Brevard Board of County Commissioners, through the Brevard Cultural Alliance. Page 2 of 2

6 TAL Artist Profile Sheila Blow Last month we showcased TAL artist Sheila Blow. I am sure you enjoyed getting to know another one of our creative members. If you would like to be in our TAL Artist Profile and showcase some of your art work, please send me a biography and some pictures of your work. It does not matter how short or long you biography is or what you put in it. Just have fun doing it. We want to get to know you! March 13th: Paint Party Only Paint & Paddle with Tina $30/person 3-5pm followed by a bonfire and live music! March 20th: Paint and Paddle Party $35/person 2-5pm You have a choice to kayak or paddle board Check out our Facebook page for paintings for those events and more. 7 Youth Artist of the Month TAL Youth Student of the Month for March 2016 is Gabrielle Maggard, age 15. She has been a student with Ms. Valorie Stanley since age 11, and is also an AP art student at Astronaut High School. Gabby is a very talented artist, an excellent student, and is passionate about art & psychology! She has won numerous awards for her work in area art shows, and is excited about the sale of some of her recent artwork! Her instructor and fellow students are very proud of her and so thankful to know such a wonderful young lady! Thank you Ms. Val for doing an awesome job teaching the young artists! A big thank you to Gabby for sharing your work with us!

They are held the second Friday of the month. We need someone to set up, break down and sit at the table. This can be 2 volunteers to do everything or several to do a small part. Other areas to volunteer in: Art shows, yard sale, putting out fliers in our community, helping Bob in the maintenance of the TAL, demonstration at our member s meetings..you can call me and I will put you in the right direction.
