2 PATTERN NOTES Knit in the round, starting from the top of the work, using double knit stockinette and reverse stockinette stitches to form the cylinder. End with double knit stockinette and decrease stitches to create the bottom of the work. Outside of the cozy is the RS and inside of the cozy is the WS. Continuously work from the inside with WS as front, facing you. The first four stitches knit on each needle should be pulled tight to avoid gaps. 3 Decreasing With double knitting, the 4 stitches (2 MC and 2 CC) to be used in [MCp2tog with both strands in front, CCk2tog with both strands in back] must be reordered by swapping the second and third stitch. Here are two methods for doing so the first with the use of an extra needle, the second (similar to cabling without a cable needle) without: While reordering the stitches keep the strands together in the front or the back of the working needle but the strands will need to be in the front before MCp2tog. 1. Slip 1st MC stitch to RH (right hand) needle. Slip 1st CC stitch to extra needle, keeping in front of work. Slip 2nd MC stitch to RH needle. Return 1st CC stitch to LH (left hand) needle. Return 2 MC stitches to LH needle. 2. Slip 1st MC stitch, then 1st CC stitch, then 2nd MC stitch to RH needle With tip LH needle, pick up front loop of 1st CC stitch inserting LH needle into front loop from left to right Pinch the left most MC stitch (2nd MC stitch) with your left hand from the back, slip the RH needle out of the left and middle stitches (2nd MC stitch and 1st CC stitch), and scoop the leftmost MC stitch onto the right needle again, as if to purl. (You now have the 1st and 2nd CC stitches side by side on the LH needle and the 1st and 2nd MC stitches on the RH needle.) Return 2 MC stitches to LH needle. PATTERN Using long tail cast on method, loosely C 48 sts with MC; Distribute evenly to 3 needles Round 1: Join to knit in the round. WS in front, [MCkb & CCpf] to end. This will add 1 CC stitch after every MC stitch. Rounds 2-5 rev St st (see notes): Proceed with 32 stitches of alternating MC and CC on each needle. Keep MC strand behind the working needle and CC strand in front of the working needle. [MCkb, CCpf] to end Rounds 6-14 St st (see notes): [MCp, CCk] to end

4 Rounds 15-4 (White and Black Cozy): Continue with the same stitches but switch strands as directed to create contrasting color letters. For rounds follow chart below starting from the bottom.
