ASSESSMENT AND DELIVERY INFORMATION Centre devised assessment tasks should be approved by the internal verifier for the course before delivery takes place in order to ensure the assessment is fit for purpose and meets the standards required. Unit Summary In this unit learners will prepare a knitted garment using different construction methods including hand or machine stitching. They will also be able to use hem and edge finishes, and fastenings. Assessment Requirements/Recommendations Evidence of practical ability must be demonstrated. Indicative Content Learning Outcome Article pieces: all pattern instructions must be followed and shaping and tension must be correct. This task will be carried out under supervision. Learning Outcome Seam type: and finish as appropriate to style of article and weight of yarn, seams and seam finish must be smooth, flat and even. 2.3 Hand or machine stitching: learners must use correct thread and stitch size, and ensure all ends are neatly and firmly finished. Learning Outcome and 3.2 Basic edge finishes: e.g. neck and front bands, simple machine/hand knitted or crocheted decorative edges. Learning Outcome 4, 4.1 Common fastenings: e.g. buttons and button holes, worked loops, toggles, poppers, ties and tassels. 4.2 Fastenings: learners must ensure that fastenings are secure, flat and neat. 3
