2 2. Understand how to configure the CAD system to suit drawing requirements 2.1. Locate and load CAD software applications 2.2. Log into the CAD system using appropriate procedures 2.3. Respond to screen displays and system prompts 2.4. Set drawing parameters appropriate to the task 2.5. Use data input methods that are appropriate and available 2.6. State computer operating systems commonly used by CAD applications 2.7. State the reasons for and the typical content of system log-in procedures 2.8. State examples of drawing parameters that can be set by the user during system configuration 2.9. Unit Summary The aim of this unit is to give learners an understanding of Computer Aided Drawing (CAD). They will learn about the risks to health and safety resulting from the use of computer equipment and how to configure the CAD system to suit drawing requirement. Learners will also gain an understanding of the requirement to comply with national and international drawing standards. They will use CAD software for the production of 2D industry standard engineering drawings, using layers, copy, modify and manipulate drawn entities to maintain drawing efficiency. Assessment Requirements/Recommendations Evidence of practical ability must be demonstrated. Delivery Requirements/Recommendations Assessment tasks will be devised to meet the needs of the learning group and to cover all the criteria 6
