3 Tip: For best results, mark the centers of each curved edge that will be sewn together. With right sides together and centers matching, pin the two pieces together at each end and the center. Stitch, easing as necessary between the pins for a smooth curved seam (fi g. 2). From this strip cut 2 side borders 43½" long and 2 top/bottom borders 35½" long. Matching centers, sew the corresponding border #1 and border #2 strips. Press the seam allowances toward border #2. Matching centers, sew the border units to the sides of the quilt, beginning and ending each seam ¼" from the corners of the quilt center.
