Sew two G strips to the top and bottom of a B unit.

Sew the remaining two units together, as shown.

Sew the E strips to the sides of the step 3 unit.

2 Instructions 1. Sew two strips to the sides of the top row unit. Press toward the strips. 5. Sew two F strips to the top and bottom of the step 4 unit. Press toward the F strips. The block should now measure 12½" x 17½". F Repeat for the bottom row unit. D 2. Sew two D strips to the top and bottom of the step 1 units. Press toward the D strips. The blocks should now measure 9½" x 9½". F 6. Sew two G strips to the top and bottom of a B unit. Press toward the G strips. Repeat for the remaining two B units.the blocks should now measure 10½" x 22½". G G D 3. Sew the remaining two units together, as shown. Press open. 4. Sew the E strips to the sides of the step 3 unit. Press toward the E strips. 7. Sew one I square between two H squares. Press toward the H squares. Make 2. H 8. 4 22. Sew the step 18 unit to the right side of the step 5 block. Press toward the step 18 unit. 23. Sew the step 12 units to the top and bottom on the step 22 unit, as shown. Press open. 24. Sew the step 21 and 23 units together with the T sashing strip, as shown. Press toward the sashing strip. T 25. ssemble the top row sewing together the top row step 2 unit, the step 13 unit, and a step 6 unit as shown. Press as shown. 26. ssemble the bottom row sewing together the remaining steps 2, 6, and 8 units with the O strips on the ends as shown. Press open.

27. Measure the top row, cut two U sashing strips to this width and sew to the top and bottom of the row. Press toward the U strips. Repeat for the bottom row. U U 28.

Measure the length of the quilt center, cut two U sashing strips to this length and sew to the sides of the quilt center. Press toward the sashing. 29.

5 27. Measure the top row, cut two U sashing strips to this width and sew to the top and bottom of the row. Press toward the U strips. Repeat for the bottom row. U U 28. Sew quilt rows together as shown. Sew the remaining U strips together end to end. Measure the length of the quilt center, cut two U sashing strips to this length and sew to the sides of the quilt center. Press toward the sashing. 29. Sew the V border strips together in pairs end-to-end to make long strips. Measure the length of the quilt top, and cut two borders to match that length. Sew to the sides of the quilt. Press toward the borders. In the same way, sew the W border strips together in pairs end-to-end to make long strips. Measure the width of the quilt top, and cut two borders to match that width. Sew to the top and bottom of the quilt. Press toward the borders. 30. ayer the backing (wrong side up), batting and quilt top (right side up). Baste layers to secure. 31. Quilt as desired. 32. Trim the backing and batting flush with the quilt top. Join binding strips together to create one continuous piece. Press to make a double-fold binding. Sew to the front of the quilt with a ¼" seam allowance, then turn the binding to the back side and stitch by hand with matching thread.
