Strip utter-1/2" (" Finished) (5502) asic sewing tools and supplies ie-utting Instructions 1. ut three 1/2" by fabric width strips pink batik. Fan-fold each strip 5" wide and die-cut a total of 50 (21/2") equilateral triangles. Note: Open up fabric on folds to die-cut additional triangles. 2. ut five 51/2" by fabric width strips cream tonal. Fan-fold each strip 5/4" wide and die-cut a total of 28 21/2" sided (largest shape) hexagons. Additional utting Instructions TIP: Use GO! Strip utter dies 2", 21/4" and 1/2" to cut borders and binding. 1. ut two 6" by fabric width strips muslin; subcut strips into 12 (6") squares. 2. ut four 2" by fabric width strips pink batik ode PQ

3 Tip The Equilateral Triangles and Hexagon dies include three sizes of triangles: 21/2", 11/2" and 1" unfinished and three sizes of hexagons: 1", 11/2" and 21/2" sides. This pattern uses only the 21/2" triangle and 21/2" sided hexagon. To die-cut only the size required, place the fan-folded fabric over the correct size on the die following tips in your user s manual and die-cut. It is not necessary to place fabric over the unneeded sizes.. ut five 21/4" by fabric width strips pink batik for binding. 4. ut five 1/2" by fabric width E strips pink/ green print. ompleting the razy-patchwork Hexagons 1. Place a small scrap of a coordinating print in the center of a muslin square. Align a second scrap along one edge as shown in Figure 1 and stitch. ompleting the Runner 1. Stitch a triangle to one side of a hexagon as shown in Figure ; press seam toward. Repeat to make 24 - units. Make Stitch two triangles to opposite sides of A hexagon as shown in Figure 4; press seams toward. Repeat for all A hexagons.. Figure 2. Using a decorative stitch and contrasting thread, stitch over all seams in the square in the order that the pieces were added. 4. 4 6. Stitch an end unit to opposite ends of the pieced center as shown in Figure Use remainder of strips to add strips to ends referring to Figure 11. Figure 8 7. 5 Embellishing With Embroidery uring the reign of Queen Victoria, it became popular to stitch odd shaped pieces of a wide array of fabrics to a foundation and embellish the seams with embroidery, ribbons and beading called crazy quilting. In these simple crazy quilt blocks, the fabric is cotton and the designer has chosen to embellish the seams with embroidery.
