Align the 2 ½ strip on the die with the selvedge end slight over the first straight line. Trim the extra part of the strip (folded edge) from the other side of the die just past the opposite straight line (Fig. 1). Use the extra section of the strip to cut three more 45-degree diamonds. You should get nine diamonds per strip. 2. Repeat Step one with 2 ½ Fabric strips to cut ninety 45-degree diamonds. Fig Sew one 2 ½ x 12 ½ Fabric strip to each side of one 8 ½ x 12 ½ rectangle. To miter each corner, fold the quilt top on a diagonal wrong side together. This should line up the strip from adjacent sides (Fig. 12). Starting at the sewn seam (represented by the arrow in Figure 12) draw a 45-degree line out to the edge of the fabric. Sew on the drawn line. Trim the excess fabric leaving a ¼ seam. Repeat this step with the remaining corners. Quilt Top Folded on the iagonal Sew one 1 ¾ x 50 Fabric strip to each side of the quilt top.
