10 ALL PRINTS AVAILABLE IN 100% FINE COTTON 2015 PENNY ROSE FABRICS AND CARRIE QUINN by Carrie Quinn If there is a textile gene, mine is certainly dominant! My earliest memories of fabrics involve hoarding little pieces of different fabrics in a box where my sisters couldn t get them. Like many textile lovers, I went through a series of textile related crafts needlepoint, cross-stitch, macramé and so forth, but my heart always came back to fabric. I started quilting in the early 90 s, and soon realized that I was accumulating a large collection of reproduction fabrics. I am fortunate to have inherited several antique quilts made by my grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a couple of really old quilts that were probably made by my great-great-grandmother around the time of the Civil War. I have also managed to accumulate a large collection of quilts and tops from the Civil War era. Most of them are sad and neglected just looking for someone to give them new life in reproduction fabrics. I am thrilled that Penny Rose is giving me a chance to do that! I attended DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana and majored in Psychology mainly because my father wouldn t let me be an Art Major. After college I married my college sweetheart, Tony, and we settled in Chicago. I started working for my father as the Office Manager in his law firm, while we started our family. I have three children, Katie, Mike and John. Katie has blessed me with two beautiful granddaughters who help keep me young. After my dad retired, I worked at another law firm for a few years, until I realized that working for someone else was not for me. I took some classes in Media Design at the local community college, and the Quilt Appraisal classes in Paducah. In 2006 I opened Pieceful Gathering Quilt Shop in Fox River Grove, Illinois. A couple of years after I opened, I was joined by my daughter, and now we are partners. What more could I ask for? The quilting industry is so wonderful full of people that really care about their work and each other. I am so happy to be a part of Penny Rose, and I hope that I can help make them the best reproduction fabric source in the industry!
