1 projects Summer Pennant MATERIALS: ScanNCut Machine and Accessories; ScanNCut Standard Craft Mat; 6" x 9" Craft Felt: (Dark Pink, Light Pink, Peach, Light Peach, Dark Purple, Light Purple, Yellow, White, Green); 9" x 19" Pennant; Embroidery Floss in Complementing Colors; Embroidery Needle; Fabric Glue (or a Glue Gun); Buttons; Summer.fcm Cut File Erin Bassett Summer is just around the corner and it s time to whip up some décor to celebrate. Now, while you might not think of using felt very much in the summer season, it is a great way for adding texture and creating dimension on your projects. Now, I usually use 100% wool felt for my felt projects, but I get so many s about using craft felt that I thought I d try it for this project. The craft felt I m using here is a blend of 35% Marino wool and 65% rayon, and it is about 2mm thick and comes in so many bright, fun summer colors. step 1. Begin by cutting out all the felt pieces using the built-in designs.. (Note: Perform a test cut first to determine the correct settings. I used a standard blade depth of 11 and a pressure of 5, but your settings may be different, depending on how new your mat and blade are and the type of felt you use.) 2 - Flower AR-A033 in Dark Pink: height = 3", width = 2.63" 2 - Flower AR-A033 in Light Pink: height = 2", width 1.75" 2 Flower AR-A031 in White: height 2.50", width 2.50" 3 Flower AR-A010 in Peach: height = 1.75", width 1.87" 3 Flower AR-A010 in Light Peach: height = 1.25", width 1.33" 3 Flower AR-A010 in Dark Purple: height = 2.50", width 2.63" 3 Flower AR-A010 in Light Purple: height = 2", width 1.75" 3 Border BO-A001 in Yellow: height 11.42", width.77" 6 Leaf AR-A022 in Green: height 1.19", width 1.22" Colors and specifications may vary by model. 2 step 1. (cont.) Use the Background Scanning feature to cut shapes out of leftover felt. When removing the felt from the mat, be sure to gently weed out the negative pieces of felt and then use a spatula to remove the flower, and leave the pieces so they retain their shape. To scan in felt remnants so you can use up all those leftover bits just use the scan feature by pressing the icon that looks like a mat being scanned. Once the mat is scanned you'll be able to see the felt on the screen and then move your patterns to the areas of felt that you want to cut. Background scanning icon

3 step 2. Download the Summer cut file here and then cut out the letters using the leftover scraps of felt. step 3. For the yellow roses, roll up the border strip while applying small dots of glue. Allow to dry. Repeat for the remaining borders.

4 step 4. Embroider the top layer of flowers and leaves. Sew a button onto the center of each top flower layer. step 5. Embroider each of the Summer letters using a different embroidery stitch for each one. step 6. Glue the top and bottom flower layers together to create a whole flower. Repeat for all the flowers.

5 step 7. Using scraps of felt, cut thin strips of felt (about 1/2" x 1 1/2" long). Fold them in thirds or fourth and glue them onto the back of the flower to pop it up and give it some height. You can do this for just some of the flowers or all of them (depending on your preference). step 8. Adhere the letters, flowers and leaves to the pennant with glue.
