2 HOW TO MAKE AN EMBROIDERED PEONY MATERIALS (FOR THE WHOLE PROJECT) Embroidery thread (we used DMC stranded cotton in 891 (dark coral), 721 (dark orange), 894 (medium coral), 967 (peach), 3804 (dark pink), 741 (bright orange), 959 (turquoise), 907 (bright green), 906 (medium green), 726 (yellow), 819 (light pink), 3609 (light lavender), 3607 (medium lavender), 310 (black) and blanc MATERIALS (FOR DAY ONE) Embroidery thread (we used 959 (turquoise), 891 (dark coral), 721 (dark orange), 894 (medium coral) and 967 (peach) 01 Stretch the fabric across the hoop, making sure it s tight. Trim any excess, leaving 2.5-4cm (1-1.5") around the edge of the hoop. 02 Print the pattern and cut it out around the dotted line, then place it behind the fabric and tape in place. Hold the hoop up to a bright light and trace the design onto the fabric with the erasable fabric pen. 03 Using three strands of thread throughout, make French knots in the centre of the flower in turquoise, medium coral and dark orange. 04 For the flower petals, use dark coral, dark orange, medium coral and peach. Stitch each petal using a mixture of long and short straight stitches for each area of colour, following the colour chart above. For the direction of your stitches, match the curve or angle of each petal, using the image as a guide. Anne Oliver Anne Oliver is the creative force behind Lolli & Grace. Find her on Instagram.
