3 Foundation circle Ch 4 and sl st back into the first stitch closing the circle together. Round 1 Ch 3, work 2 trc into the centre of the chain circle followed by 3 chains Crochet 3 trc into the centre of the chain circle followed by 3 chains Crochet 3 trc into the centre of the chain circle followed by 3 chains Crochet 3 trc into the centre of the chain circle followed by 3 chains Sl st to close off the square. Round 2 Ch 6, work 3 trc into the 1st space, 3 chains, 3 trc again into the 1st space, corner 1 complete. 3 chains, work 3 trc into the 2nd space, 3 chains, 3 trc again into the 2nd space, corner 2 completed. 3 chains, work 3 trc into the 3rd space, 3 chains, 3 trc again into the 3rd space, corner 3 completed. 3 chains, work 3 trc into the 4th space, 3 chains, 3 trc again into the 4th space, corner 4 completed. Sl st into the initial 3rd chain created at the beginning of the round to close off the square. Round 3 Ch 3, work 2 trc into the immediate open space, 3 chains, work 3 trc into the 2nd space, 3 chains, 3 trc again into the 2nd space, 1st corner completed. 3 chains, work 3 trc into the 3rd space. 3 chains, work 3 trc into the 4th space, 3 chains, 3 trc again into the 4th space, corner 2 completed. 3 chains, work 3 trc into the 5th space. 3 chains. Work 3 trc into the 6th space, 3 chains, 3 trc again into the 6th space, corner 3 completed. 3 chains, work 3 trc into the 7th space, 3 chains. Work 3 trc into the 8th space, 3 chains, 3 trc again into the 8th space, corner 4 completed. 3 chains and sl st into the initial 3rd chain created at the beginning of the round to close off the square. Work a final row of dc stitches all around the block you have created. The crochet front to your cushion is now completed. Fabric envelope cushion sewing pattern Materials: Plain unbleached cotton calico Ric rac or ribbon matching one of the colours of the granny square front panel. (I used deep pink ric rac to match the pink yarn in the cover) Cream machine thread Tools: Scissors Pins Sewing machine Hand sewing needle

5 Instructions: Cut out the material sizes listed below. Cut 1 square of plain cotton 17 x cms x 43 cms Cut 2 rectangles of plain cotton 17 x cms x 34 cms Sew a hem along the lines in the images below. Fold a 1 / 2.5 cms double hem and sew in position. On the outside piece only, machine sew a length of ric rac or ribbon over the seam to cover it and add detail. Fold a 1 / 2.5 cms double hem and sew in position.

6 Place the 17 x 17 / 43 cms x 43 cms piece on the table right side of the fabric facing you. Place the 17 x 12.5 / 43 cms x 31.5 cms piece with the ric ric (ribbon) on it, right side down on the 17 x 17 / 43 cms x 43 cms piece. Covering the left side of the cushion square. Place the final 17 x 12.5 / 43 cms x 31.5 cms piece right side down covering the 2 previous pieces. Over the right side of the cushion square. It should look like the image below, creating a lapped materials envelope shape on the back of the cushion cover. Machine sew around the entire square leaving 1/2 / 1 cm seam allowance. Following the dotted line above. Turn the cushion right side out through the open envelope section at the back and press. Place the Granny Square block over the front of the envelope cushion and hand sew with the machine thread in place using a backstitch around the circumference of the square. Making sure only to sew through the front of the material on the cushion cover only. Insert a filler into the cushion and it is ready to use.
