2 Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry In a Nutshell Introduction: Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry was established in RCCI is the third largest chamber of Pakistan and is the house of over 7000 business af liates. Objectives: To promote the trade & industry in the Rawalpindi region To serve as a bridge between the Business Community and Government Functionaries. To develop a liaison between Industry and academia Policy Advocacy to safeguard and protect the rights of business community Developing a consortium with national and international chambers and business associations To enhance the regional and national exports through nontraditional measures Achievements Rawalpindi Chamber has made signi cant achievements in recent past, preview of some is as under: Established Islamabad Stock Exchange in 1989 Established Rawalpindi Dry port in 1990 Established rst and only Rawat Industrial Estate International Fairs & Exhibition Rawalpindi Chamber is the pioneer in organizing international fairs and exhibitions more than 10 are arranged each year across the world to promote the local exports. Industry Academia Linkage RCCI is associated with 11 leading universities of the region with an aim to expand the horizon by developing partnerships with educational institutions. International Consortium RCCI has successfully developed working relationship over the years with most of the renowned Chambers and business associations around the globe, focused on enhancing the spectrum of these partnerships by developing new arenas worldwide. Our Aspirations Establishment of new Industrial estate for Rawalpindi region providing different facilities are an aspiration of Rawalpindi Chamber. Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate announced by the Government of Punjab is in consequence of RCCI's efforts in this regard. WBIC Women constitute more than 52 % of the total population of Pakistan. RCCI Women Business Incubation Center is an other initiative for Empowering women. Sectorial Development Sectorial development is an aim of RCCI to ourish the sector speci c growth in Rawalpindi region. Gems & Jewellery, pharmaceuticals, furniture, marble and poultry are some of the key focus areas. RCCI Gems & Jewelry Training & Development Center is another initiative of the chamber in this area. 01
