Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? BSR Club News President Roger called the meeting to order. The invocation was led by Stephanie Baker and the salute to the flag was led by Greg Horn & The Young Marines. Allen Thompson led the club in singing what sounded something like My Country Tis of Thee. Jeff Bell welcomed visiting Rotarian Dean Haddock (Bakersfield West). Guests Greg Horn (Honorary member), Tom Dandy, Micah Nielson, & Joshua Haddock were given a welcome. Doyle Krause announced that planning is underway for the 10th Annual Ron Fontaine Memorial 5-10k Run scheduled for October 30, Ken Byrum was pleased to announce that Honorary Member Greg Horn has been nominated to become Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy. (See Word attachments.) Mary Sierra-Fish reported the May 8th Garage Sale is developing quite well. She did indicate more items of clothing are needed. If you need help getting any items to Millenium Energy, 8302 Expresso Drive, Bakersfield, please contact her. Mark Bateman & Bill Slocumb are coordinating the Great American Cleanup April 17th and are expecting a good club turnout for the service opportunity. District Assembly April 10th at the CSUB campus. Great opportunity for information exchange about District 5240.

Sharing that birthday is Mitt Romney and Charles Boycott (1832) & namesake for the term boycott. Allen Thompson was recognized for his upcoming Club Anniversary Entry Date (4/11/2005). Sharing that day Apollo 13 was launched (1970) and in 1976 the first Apple Computer was introduced. When asked where he falls within that spectrum Allen replied, Houston, we have a problem. In addition, when he was asked what he likes best about Rotary, Allen said the scholarships that we are able to give through Rotary are meaningful to him. HAPPY BUCKS to Fight Polio Chuck Doremus for the Baylor University Lady Bears making it to the Final Four and playing the awesome University of Connecticut Huskies and losing only by 20 points. Scott Barks for his son Jonah getting a new crown at the dental office and for his successful completion of two years of speech therapy. (Well done, Jonah!) Ken Byrum for being Rear Admiral Greg Horn s driver and lawyer.

Five months later his wife had a 10-pound baby girl. They said the baby was pre-mature. Tell me, can a baby this big be that early? WONDERING DEAR WONDERING: The baby was on time, the wedding was late. 5. DEAR ABBY: What s the difference between a wife and a mistress? BESS DEAR BESS: Night and day! 6. I am forty-four years old and I would like to meet a man my age with no bad habits. ROSE DEAR ROSE: So would I.

4 Page 4 BSR Program Notes Program Chair Mal Hanson introduced Dean Haddock, Psy.D., of Community Counseling & Psychological Services. Dr. Haddock presented an At-a-Distance Personality Profile of President Barack Hussein Obama and entitled it What Makes Him Tick, What Can We Expect? Mal Hanson He indicated psychologists have been conducting at-adistance leader personality assessments for the U.S. intelligence organizations since the early 1940 s beginning when the Office of Strategic Services commissioned two studies of Adolph Hitler. The effort was regarded as enough of a success that it was institutionalized in the 1960 s under the direction of the Psychiatric Staff of the CIA s Office of Medical Services, which led to the establishment of the Center for the Analysis of Personality and Political Behavior (CAPPB) which then became the Directorate of Intelligence. It is a process of interpretation. President Obama shows an Ambitious, Accommodating, and Outgoing pattern in his personality Inventory. The people with this type of pattern tend to be selfassured and ambitious, are characteristically gracious, considerate and benevolent. They are energetic, charming, and agreeable, with a special knack for settling differences, favoring mediation and compromise over force or coercion as a strategy for resolving conflict. They are driven primarily by a need for achievement and have strong affiliation needs, but a low need for personal power. The are narcissistic and naïve. They tend to getalong with people of any culture and develop a chameleon-like ability to become part of other cultures. For detailed information on President Obama s beliefs, read his autobiography Dreams from My Father. It teaches things about the author, what he believes and who he is. Reading the book should help a person make better assessments and decisions about the president and the actions he chooses to take. In showing the club s appreciation for Dr. Haddock s presentation, President Roger said the club will give in Dr. Haddock s name a copy of the book, My Teacher Likes To Say to Plantation School.
