2 Kansas City NARI is nominating Jake Schloegel, CR, Schloegel Design Remodel, for consideration for the Lifetime Achievement Award January 30, Jake opened Schloegel Design Remodel, Inc he joined the KC NARI chapter and is one of three remaining companies that has been in KC NARI for more than 25 years. Has over 35 years experience in the remodeling industry. In 1996 Jake earned his CR certification. Currently serves on NARI s Certification Board.

10 Background: Jake Schloegel, CR President and Founder of Schloegel Design Remodel, Inc. Jake is a lifelong Kansas City area resident, a middle child of 8 children. His first job was working at his father s service station pumping gas. He received a B.S.B.A. degree from Rockhurst University in 1979, which he funded while in the US Air Force. Upon graduation he joined a computer supplies company as a sales representative. After three years of service to the company, he decided to act on his lifelong desire to own his own business. Remodeling, which he enjoyed doing, seemed to be the logical choice. On January 30, 1980, Jake officially started Schloegel Design Remodel, Inc. In 1988 Jake joined the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). He got involved and served the local chapter as President for 3 years. He also has several employees currently serving on various chapter committees and Board of Directors. Jake received his certification for CR in He also serves on the National level as member of the Certification Board. Involvement in NARI allowed Jake to become familiar with Linda Case. In 1995 he joined the Remodelers Advantage Roundtable (RAR), a peer review group, and he has remained an active member for over 21 years. He is now a group facilitator for RAR. As owner and president of the company, Jake is the CEO and a design consultant. The company has 45 employees--9 design consultants, 3 production managers, 1 architect, 3 office staff and the balance work in production job site managers and carpenters.

11 Work Experience: Knowledge of industry Jake worked part time with a remodeling contractor and developed an interest in remodeling and improving homes. Jake Schloegel founded Schloegel Design Remodel in As a trusted and professional home remodeling contractor, his company takes the time to get to know each and every client, and help them find ways to beautify their home and make it more functional. Home remodeling can be filled with complex decisions and Schloegel Design Remodel is more than happy to assist homeowners with remodeling and handyman projects. At first it was just Jake doing everything, from setting up jobs, performing the carpentry duties to completing all the necessary paperwork. In short time, he added employees and expanded his services to include design build.

16 NARI Involvement: Remodeled Homes Tour has placed a home on the Tour since the creation of the Tour in 1997 Past President of KC NARI Board Member Government Affairs Committee Chair Mentoring/helping other members have a successful business Spoken at various KC NARI educational programs such as being a roundtable leader & panel lunch speaker.

17 NARI Involvement: Jake promotes having his employees attend NARI chapter events and encourages them to be actively involved in the KC NARI chapter. Has members of his staff serve on Remodeled Homes Tour Committee, Education Committee, Social Committee, Board of Directors Debby Allmon, MCR, UDCP, Schloegel Design Remodel, served as chapter president in 2007 with Jake s blessing. Chris Peterson, CR, CLC, Schloegel Design Remodel, will be the 2018 chapter president. Jake strongly encourages his employees to become certified through NARI. He has 12 employees certified as CR, CKBR, UDCP, CLC, and GCP.

18 Community Involvement: Big Splash Custom Bath Giveaway For the sixth year in a row, Schloegel Design Remodel and the Love Fund for Children are going to make a big splash in the life of a deserving child. Big Splash provides bathroom improvements for children with special needs. It's easy to nominate a child whom you believe would benefit from a complete bathroom makeover which includes handicap accessible fixtures and features (a $25,000 value) Schloegel and the Love Fund know that by working together a little care can make a big splash!

19 Community Involvement: Cristo Rey Welcome to the Big Dance He's knocked down walls, torn up floors and gutted bathrooms. He's conquered the realm of remodeling and now Jake Schloegel is looking to tap into his softer side and conquer the art of...dance. With the guidance of his professional partner, Laura Szymanski, Jake will learn to flitter. He will learn to flutter. Box step. Heel turn. Moonwalk. Shimmy and shake. But he'll need your help. With the goal of providing scholarship assistance to Kansas City's youth, Jake has joined forces with Cristo Rey and will participate in their annual fundraiser Dancing With the Stars.
