2 On behalf of the Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY), I would like to invite you to attend and support our 25th Anniversary Annual Dinner, Empowering Progress and Unity, on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Cipriani Wall Street (55 Wall Street, New York, NY 10005). For our 2014 Annual Dinner, we are pleased to announce that Vernon Jordan, Senior Managing Director of Lazard Freres & Co. LLC, will receive the AABANY I4 (Icon, Ideals, Inspiration, Impact) Award; Randal S. Milch, Executive Vice President, Public Policy and General Counsel of Verizon Communications Inc. will receive the AABANY Corporate Counsel Leadership Award; and the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF) will receive the AABANY Public Advocacy Award. Our 2014 Annual Dinner will celebrate an important milestone in our organization s history, which began in 1989 as a notfor-profit corporation to represent the interests of New York Asian American attorneys, judges, law professors, paralegals, legal assistants, and law students by helping to improve the practice and study of law, and the equal administration of justice through the meaningful participation of Asian Americans in the legal profession. As part of our special 25th anniversary celebration, we have extended invitations to our past Annual Dinner honorees. Some of these past honorees who have already confirmed their attendance at the 2014 Annual Dinner include Don H. Liu, General Counsel and Secretary, Xerox Corporation; Gary G. Lynch, Global Chief of Legal, Compliance and Regulatory Relations, Bank of America Corporation; Samuel M. Reeves, Senior Vice President & General Counsel, Walmart U.S. Legal; Thomas L. Sager, Senior Vice President & General Counsel, DuPont Company; and Kam S. Wong, Associate Director, Workforce Diversity & Compliance Programs, City University of New York. Our 2013 Annual Dinner drew approximately 750 attorneys, judges, friends and supporters of AABANY, which included sponsorship from over 60 law firms and corporations, making it the most highly attended annual dinner in AABANY s history. You can provide support through one of several levels of corporate sponsorships. As a sponsor, you will receive recognition in our Annual Dinner marketing materials, including the annual dinner program distributed to each of our guests, and for the following year, your company logo plus a link to your website will appear on the home page of AABANY s website. The funds raised at the Annual Dinner serve as AABANY s principal source of financing for its numerous and wide-ranging activities. Certified by the New York State Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Board as an Accredited Provider, AABANY provides CLEs to our members throughout the year free of charge or at preferential rates, including our Annual Fall Conference. This year s AABANY Fall Conference also served as the 2013 National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) Northeast Regional Conference, which attracted more than 350 attendees to 15 CLE programs ( AABANY also provides law student mock interview and resume review workshops; mentoring programs for law students and junior lawyers; networking events across numerous legal practice disciplines; and pro-bono initiatives ranging from enforcement of voting rights to participation in legal education events for the at-large Asian American community. AABANY is one of the most prominent and active minority bar associations in New York with over 900 current active members, and is also a New York regional affiliate of NAPABA.
