1 WOMEN S BUSINESS CENTER ANNUAL REPORT WE HELP WOMEN BUSINESS OWNERS: BUILD CONFIDENCE CREATE OPPORTUNITIES EXPERIENCE SUCCESS

MISSION The Salt Lake Chamber Women s Business Center helps women build confidence, create new opportunities and experience success in business through consulting and in-person and online training.

2 MISSION The Salt Lake Chamber Women s Business Center helps women build confidence, create new opportunities and experience success in business through consulting and in-person and online training. SERVICES The statewide WBC accelerates women-owned businesses through in-person counseling, in person and online technical training and special events to help women business owners learn how to successfully operate a business. As their accountability partner, the WBC helps women get their businesses moving and guides them through their entrepreneurial experience. STRUCTURE Women s Business Center is a nonprofit supporting organization to and hosted by the Salt Lake Chamber and funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement (grant) between the Salt Lake Chamber and the U.S. Small Business Administration. The center is self-sustaining and financially independent from the Salt Lake Chamber, and although the missions are unique they are complementary. STAFF The Women s Business Center is supported by 9 staff including 4 fulltime employees, 2 VISTA members and 3 Salt Lake Chamber support staff. Seeking out assistance from the Women s Business Center was a pivotal choice in my career path, resulting in increased exposure and revenue. Dr. Shannon Simonelli, 2017 WBC Women Entrepreneur of the Year Neuroscience shows that creative arts therapy such as dance/movement, engaging the imagination and connecting with others are powerhouse resources to create change, says Dr. Shannon Simonelli, co-founder of the NeuroImaginal Institute and founder of the Luminous Life Maps TM system based in Salt Lake. Using these creative methods, she said, teaching people to be more embodied, resilient and confident, activates people to awaken the truth of who they are. And while it is unique or unusual, it is resonating with people and changing lives. Simonelli is one of more than 220 people who sought no-cost business consultation through the Women s Business Center in the last year. Because of efforts she s made to expand her beliefs and practices and successfully grow her therapy business, Simonelli received the 2017 WBC Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
