1 SUPERCHARGE YOUR SELF-CONFIDENCE In this section you will learn how to achieve maximum self confidence by creating your new, more positive life story. Our focus will be to: 1. Better understand your current level of self-confidence 2. Improve your self-confidence through positive affirmations 3. and Create your new and uplifting life story UNDERSTANDING YOUR SELF-CONFIDENCE Before we can begin to supercharge your self-confidence, we must first understand how you developed your current level of self-confidence. Confidence is defined as a state of being certain that a prediction is correct, or that a chosen course of action is the best or most effective. Self-confidence is having confidence in oneself. Confidence can be a selffulfilling prophecy, as those without self-confidence may fail or not try because they lack it. Those with self-confidence may succeed because they have it, rather than an innate ability. The key to your self-confidence is to have Faith in yourself. That usually means you have clarity about yourself and your life. It has been said that you must first change your self-belief system to change your self-confidence. That basically includes your self image and your thought - 1 -

2 process around your self preservation. All of this has been deeply programmed into your subconscious mind from years of your conscious thought patterns. Those who strongly believe in themselves and in their ability to accomplish a particular challenge are much more likely to have success. So our selfconfidence is quite important as it is directly related to what actions we are willing to take in our life. Also, the strength or weakness of our selfconfidence will likely determine the success when we do take action. Faith in oneself is coupled to one s survival instincts or self-preservation. Because self-confidence is so strongly connected to self-preservation, our first concern is normally to protect ourselves from harm or embarrassment. Our self-confidence will only allow us to do things we can accomplish safely. Those with low self-confidence and self esteem are more concerned with avoiding risk than with reaping rewards. To improve our self-confidence we need to understand how we developed it in our mind. Certainly, what we see, hear, smell, touch and taste are important factors in how you have developed your self-confidence. You must also take into account how your mind processes those senses and also be aware of your universal power sense or sometimes referred to as your sixth sense. The human survival instinct is so strong that it will prevent you from doing something detrimental, dangerous, embarrassing and humiliating to yourself. So if you have high self-confidence, it will almost always dictate in advance whether you will succeed or fail at an undertaking. To control and even manufacture the information sent to your brain, you need to screen out negative information and exclude it from your mind. Instead you will now increase your positive thoughts which will allow you more positive memories when searching through your mental filing cabinet. You should challenge any negative input and whenever possible defuse and - 2 -

3 dissolve any emotional reactions attached to these negative thoughts. Here is a statement to use each time a negative thought enters your mind, say That s not like me, I a confident, powerful, and positive person! You might also just say delete, delete, delete as if you are hitting a keyboard. Then immediately go right back to all your positive thoughts. Remember to not generalize negative thoughts. You need to balance every negative with a positive emotion. Make sure you do not manufacture or create your own negatives. Our self-confidence is enhanced when we emphasize positive emotions more than negative emotions. Now start to make plans and promises rather than goals. The reason for this is because plans and promises are more powerful than goals. If you promise that you will do something you odds are much greater. When you plan something you organize into steps. These are much more powerful than just having goals. Have these plans and promises be about what YOU are passionate about. Determine your core values. Write down your plans and promises and review them frequently. Make sure you have clarity and you are congruent with your plans and promises. Create a dream board and view it daily. Write down and create a 5 year plan as explained in THE POWER OF POSITIVE THOUGHTS course material. Tell yourself and others frequently that you will accomplish your plans and promises. Act as if it is already true. To improve your self-confidence it is important to understand that you have positive and negative ideas, memories, and experiences. The trick is to get your mind to respond and access the positive memories and not respond to the negative memories

4 We will create your new life story using all of the positive, fun, exciting, and inspirational thoughts and experiences you have had in your life. Each of us has memories and events that we cherish. It is important to write down as many as possible of these events and study them so they become readily available to your conscious mind. You should review them before bedtime. Write down your dreams, things you enjoy doing, and all your passions and play these moments in your mind. If you are having difficulty with this then it is all the more important for you to clear the negative thoughts and sayings and replace them with fun and happy ones. Remember the one thing you have complete control over is your thoughts, so think carefully and wisely. In a moment you will get a list of questions to help you create your new life story. Before we do so, here are some wonderful affirmations to help you supercharge your self confidence: ***Self Confidence Affirmations**** REPEAT AFTER ME: I can do anything I put my mind to I make wise choices I approve accept and love myself as I am right now - 4 -

5 I am true to myself and others I am bold I take control of my life I am assertive I am deserving of health, wealth and all of life s abundances I am unstoppable I respect myself and others I help and provide value to others I give encouragement to myself and others I have unconditional love for myself and the universe My brain is a powerful tool that I use to improve my life I smile and laugh frequently I am courageous in all of life s endeavors My character is of the highest integrity I am an enthusiastic individual I use my utmost higher self to make my decisions I take action in spite of fear I give freely with no strings attached I am a loving and caring person I am quick to make adjustments to stay satisfied I spend time with those that appreciate me When I listen with my ears, eyes and heart, I am a great communicator - 5 -

6 My positive insights and instincts guide me towards my aspirations If something doesn t go my way, I immediately say That s not like me. I am a confident, powerful, and happy a person Now make up a few that are specific to you: I am the best, I can. I know. When I. CREATING YOUR LIFE STORY The project of creating your new life story will take some time and thought. If you think of something negative or unbeneficial then SKIP IT, and go on to - 6 -

7 the NEXT POSTIVE MEMORY. Do not write down negative experiences unless they have a positive lesson or ending. The strategy is to bury your negative thoughts and experiences underneath all the wonderful, positive, happy ones! Another way to think about this is you are writing your autobiography. All the questions below are purposefully placed in random order to help your mind generate all the positive thoughts, experiences and memories you have experienced in your life. Now you are ready to create your life story. Remember to note all the fun stuff in your life. Even though it may not seem like much; write all the simple memories which inspired you to do positive, productive things in your life. As you read, write down in the space provided and/or use the margins. It s perfectly ok to write in this manual. As a matter fact, it s recommended. LIFE STORY QUESTIONS: Write down everything you are grateful for? Even those simple things like your health, your partners, your friends, your spirituality, your family, your happiness, remember how much you have, compared to the average person in a third world country? Think about positive experiences with your family members, your mom, your dad, your brothers and sisters, children, grandparents, close family friends? Write them down. Expand on them

8 Think about your education, start when you were just small, grammar school, junior high school and so on. Write down all your favorite experiences. Who were your favorite teachers and what were your favorite subjects? What are your favorite memories and events, lessons? Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special. Take time to remember them and those memories. Write down any prizes and awards that you have received throughout your life. Do you speak a foreign language? Do you enjoy dancing? Playing musical instruments? Are you the life of the party? Write down some items that you are passionate about and expand on them. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile. Do you enjoy reading? Do you have books that you have read that inspired you? Jot down some notes about them. What are some of the nicest compliments you have ever received? Write down and expand on the best friends you have had through your life? Write down some of the fun and happy memories. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school. Name three friends who have helped you through difficult times. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with and name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you. Take notes of them. Think about some fun and happy moments, maybe a nice dinner at a restaurant? How about an exciting sporting event? Maybe spending some quiet time in the outdoors? Do you enjoy picnics or bonfires at the beach? - 8 -

9 Do you keep photos and letters from your past? Pull them out and browse through them. Write down some of the best recollections. Who are your mentors? Are you anyone s protégé? Have you taken or attended any seminars from them? What was the best thing that ever happened to you? Think about movies, concerts, or plays that you enjoyed? Write down your experiences and what you liked about them. What have been some powerful lessons in your life? Do you enjoy a nice drive? Maybe riding a bike while taking in some scenery? Can you remember a scenic drive or maybe some inspiring scenery? Do you remember a special home? Maybe the home you grew up in? Are you in to music, audio CDs or conferences? What are your favorites? Write them down and continue to listen and maybe something will spur a positive memory and inspire your imagination. Do you have sports that you played or enjoy watching? How about trips and vacations that you have enjoyed? Reminisce about old friends or maybe a special pet? - 9 -

10 Have you provided support to a family member? Or maybe it was helping out a friend or stranger? What is the best thing that ever happened to you at work? Any accomplishments that you are proud of that you would like to write down? Have you ever been a part of a fund-raising or political event? Have you ever donated your time, money, or efforts to a worthy cause? How about some AH HA moments where you had breakthroughs? Do you enjoy walking thru the forest and trees? Maybe you enjoy a peaceful retreat to a lake, the ocean, mountains, or desert? Do you like looking at view of the city lights? Do you enjoy gardening? Do you like hiking, long walks, or jogging? Do you have memories and/or enjoy time with your children? How about visiting with friends? Think of some productive days at the office? Or maybe a relaxing day at home? Solving math solutions or spelling words properly? Maybe you enjoy the water and go sailing or swimming?

11 Have you had to overcome an addiction? Did you lose some weight or do you now eat healthier? Write down the lessons and make a positive spin on how it all turned out. When was the last time you shared ideas with business partners? Read a good book? How about brainstorming some new business ventures? Do you enjoy people watching? How about shopping at the mall? Were you involved in any extra-curricular school functions? (some examples might be: School plays, sports, Newspaper, yearbook, band, cheerleader, glee club, athletics, academic clubs, etc.) List some of your best qualities: Some examples might be that you are kind, compassionate, clever, honest, gentle, funny, or loving. Do you have high morals, a strong determination and/or will power? Have you ever been part of a group, team, section, department, or division that has received an award, an acknowledgement, or thank you? Have you ever received a raise or a promotion? Has a friend or co-worker ever sought your advice or recommendation concerning a project? Did you help them? Think about how this also benefited you. What are the most exciting memories you have while you were participating in a sporting activity? Of all the sports in which you have engaged, which is/was your favorite? Have you ever won any prizes or sports awards?

12 What are your most rewarding experiences in special functions such as church, civic, charitable and political or military experience? Do you participate in clubs, maybe the YMCA, enjoy visiting your local libraries, local boards or are you a present or past member of the military? Write down all your fun and happy experiences. Did you receive any commendations, ribbons, or medals? What are the best experiences you have ever had in your dating or marital relationship? Write down special partners that you have had from the past. Reminisce about all the loving memories. Write down all those that you loved and loved you? Note some of the more pleasant memories regarding your relationships? What are your best physical and mental attributes? Picture these attributes in your mind when you think about yourself. What personal characteristics generate the most complimentary comments? Has anyone ever told you that you were gorgeous or handsome? What is the nicest thing you have ever done for your friends, neighbors or maybe a stranger? How did it make you feel? What has been the most rewarding or satisfying business transaction in which you were involved? Has anyone ever asked your advice or counsel regarding a financial matter? Of all the obstacles you have encountered in your life, which was the hardest to overcome? Put in writing some of the lessons from this experience. Who enjoys your company? Who thinks you are intelligent? Who thinks you are a good person? Who respects you? How would you like to be remembered? Write down what you would like to be said at your memorial service. Explain how you would like to be recognized and paid tribute to, what do you want them to say about your lifetime

13 Great job, those questions will you busy for quite some time. I encourage you to continue to write down your favorite memories, your greatest accomplishments, and the nicest compliments you have received (so on and so forth). Continue writing on a regular basis to keep all these wonderful memories. Now that you have been writing the positives in your life, it important to remember the questions above are not a complete list so continue to add to your written memories that are specific to YOU and your life story. Now when you have conversations with yourself and others you have plenty of fun, positive, topics to talk about. Over time this will resonate with your sub-conscious mind and your self-confidence will dramatically increase! What you focus on expands. Focus on your wonderful and uplifting life story. We all have one. Practice remembering and talking about your experiences by reviewing your writings. Review all your positive memories in your mind s eye. Recapture the thoughts and memories; bring them to the forefront of your memory so they are easily remembered
