15 For a legal relationship tests, AABB requires a photograph or copy of a government issued photo ID for proper identification of individuals who were collected. In very rare circumstances (i.e. samples provided by law enforcement agencies, coroner s samples or prenatal samples) where identification cannot be verified via a photograph, a signed affidavit from the individual(s) identifying and collecting the samples needs to be provided. Remove swab from package and dip in distilled water, shake to remove excess water 2. Swab between check and gum secs. 3. Repeat with remaining swab 4. Place in envelope and seal 5. Remove nail clipper/scissors from envelope 6. Hold envelope under nails and clip 4-5 nails 7. Seal envelope 8. Pull hairs and place in 3 rd envelope 9. Seal envelope 45 15

19 Actions to Avoid Avoid touching any areas/items where DNA will be tested Avoid sneezing, coughing, excessive talking while collecting DNA Avoid putting buccal swabs back in original package or in anything that is plastic or plastic lined 55 Things to remember We always want DNA samples dry Moisture promotes bacteria. Bacteria degrades DNA If infants are receiving breast milk, wait 2 hrs. prior to performing the collection. Tell your client during initial communication To provide the best possible test for your client, find out all parties available for testing, then use our DNA RightTest to select the best test for them You can NEVER communicate too much information Use the supplemental information box on COC 56 Things to remember Complete one person at a time prior to moving on Always print clearly COC is our Bible!
