1 As part of Jefferson you now have access to a career building tool called Portfolium. This is a free electronic portfolio product that you may use with some of your courses or just when you re ready to search for that great new job. Below are screen shots that show you how to set the recommended privacy settings for using Portfolium only with your courses and instructors. You can choose to change the privacy settings to allow others to view your content later if you like. JCN recognizes your right to privacy and by following the settings below you ll be sure that no one sees any of your content unless you choose to share it with them. You can have a mix a shared/live content and private school content as well. Let s get started! I prefer to use the Chrome web browser and recommend you use that. Go to and click on the Join button (if this is your first time) or the Login button using your Jefferson account, use your name not your campus key. You must start your Portfolium account using your Jefferson account but can always change it to another system when you want to.

2 Great, now that you are signed in, let s first set the general privacy settings. Over in the top right you ll see a circle with a downward pointer (carrot), click on that and select Settings. You will see the screen below. (You ll notice in this example my photo is in the circle, you can add your photo later if you would like to.) Once the page updates, select the last menu option: Privacy. If you do not want others to discover your profile by chance, enable the top option. If you don t want employers working with Portfolium to discover you, enable the bottom option. You can still share your portfolio with individuals by sending them your privacy bypass URL. Sending that link to others will let them view your portfolio while keeping it hidden from others browsing around in Portfolium.

3 Next up, let s look at adding an item to your portfolio. You can add a variety of documents, audio and video directly to your portfolio or make a link to items on the web (Glogster, Prezi and any web page). Start from your portfolio homepage and click on the blue ADD PROJECT button in the upper right or the + Add or attach project button in the portfolio body as seen below. In this example I ll use the +ADD PROJECT button in the upper right.

A window will appear that asks you to choose between starting with a file or a link to a web page. In this example I ll select file and upload a word document.

Click on the link to upload your files if the file is on your computer or more options if it s on drop box, google drive, or some other service. In this example I will choose Upload files.

5 Once I select my file and upload Portfolium will step through a few screens that allow me to add a title and I can categorize the item if I want. For example a paper for a course might be categorized as Education and work done at Jeff Hope or at an outreach center could be classified as Health Care. Enter information for the fields as described. For example you can add your team mates if this was a group project, tags to help make the project easy to find, etc. When done click on the Publish button.

6 A pop- up window will confirm you re ready to publish. You can automatically share on some social media services if you want to. More importantly though notice the text that says Visibility options. Click this to set the privacy options for this project.

7 Click on Visibility options and choose Private that will then display a URL you can use to share with your instructor. Click on Done. You ll return to the previous screen where you can then click on the publish button.

8 Portfolium will display the window below showing you that your item has now been added to your portfolio. Notice the item is marked as private. Click on the x to close the window. You re done the new item is now added to your Portfolio. Remember you control if your Portfolio is private or available to others. If and when you want to use this a career tool you can change the privacy settings on the portfolio and the items. You can have a mixture of public and private items. If you have questions while working in Portfolium they have online chat support available look for the blue circle with the question mark in it at the bottom right of most pages.
