STAFF ANALYSIS: The applicant is proposing to install one (1) sign on the exterior surface above the storefront for the new restaurant tenant use,. Considered to be a projecting sign because the sign extends more than nine inches beyond the surface of such building or wall, the projecting is permitted as a replacement for any permitted flat sign; signage area must be same as a flat sign, Section (1)(5) All Other Zoning Districts, of the Land Development Code, provides the following regulations for flat signs: FLAT SIGNS with a total aggregate sign area/ not to exceed twenty (20) percent of the area of any budding face/ for the purposes of sign regulation/ there shall be considered to be only four (4) facades to any building- no single sign shall exceed two hundred (200) square feet in area. Direct illumination is permitted Sign/ projecting. Shall mean any sign affixed to a building or wall in such a manner that its leading edge extends more than nine inches beyond the surface of such building or wall.

2 ERPB presented on October 3,2017 Signage Installation - Page 2 of 2 Located on the wall above the storefront, the applicant is proposing to install an illuminated projecting double face sign. The proposed design consists of an irregular shaped sign that will read "AMERICAN HARVEST," with 1/2" push thru uppercase letters in white colored with a red background. The total height of four (4) feet / forty-eight (48) inches and a width of six (6) feet / seventy-two (72) inches, totals approximately 24 square feet. It is important to note that the rendering illustrates another sign that is not subject to ERPB's review. CONCLUSION: The proposed sign requires ERPB approval and its guidelines/specifications are limited to a flat sign. The proposed sign has an approximate overall area of (24 SF) which is less than the two hundred (200) square feet allowed for a flat sign type. Because of this, staff is recommending approval for the wall sign with conditions. RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends Approva/with the following conditions: 1. No electrical wiring is to be exposed; and, 2. Any comments and/or suggestions from the Board.
