SUPPORTING EXCAVATION COST SHALL BE DEEMED INCLUDED IN THE UNIT RATE. 4- EXCAVATIONS SHALL BE KEPT FREE FROM WATER AND IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO CONSTRUCT AND MAINTAIN TEMPORARY DIVERSION AND DRAINAGE WORKS AND TO CARRY OUT PUMPING AND TO TAKE ALL MEASURES NECESSARY TO COMPLY WITH THIS REQUIREM 5- THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLETE DETAILED DESIGN OF STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS AND PREPARE CONSTRUCTION SHOP DRAWINGS FOR ALL WORKS GIVEN IN THE CONTRACT. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT HIS PROPOSAL FOR THE ENGINEER'S APPROVAL IN COMPLETE SUBMITTAL PACKAGES IN A FORM THAT CAN BE COMPREHENSIVELY IEWED BY THE ENGINEER. CONSTRUCTION SHALL NOT COMMENCE BEFORE THE RECEIPT OF APPROVAL OF THE RELEVANT CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS. 6- MAIN BACKFILLING MATERIALS: - BACKFILL SHALL BE LAID AND WELL COMPACTED IN LAYERS NOT EXCEEDING 2mm THICK. COMPACTED TO 95% OF PROCTOR MAXIMUM DRY DENSITY BY A COMPACTING MACHINES SUITABLE FOR TRENCH WIDTH. - DO NOT USE HEAVY COMPACTORS OVER PIPE TRENCH UNTIL THERE IS 60mm (OR REQUIRED BY THE PIPE SUPPLIER) COVER OVER THE PIPE. - IF THE COVER OVER THE TOP OF THE PIPE IS LESS THAN 10mm (OR AS REQUIRED BY THE PIPE SUPPLIER), USE CONCRETE ENCASEMENT AS SPECIFIED ON THE DRAWING AND DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER. - WHEN BACKFILLING TO PIPES WITH CONCRETE BEDS AND SURROUNDS, DO NOT START BACKFILLING BEFORE 24 HOURS OR ALLOW HEAVY COMPACTORS AND TRAFFIC OVER THE PIPES BEFORE 72 HOURS OF PLACING CONCRETE. 7- REINFORCEMENT: - UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED ON THE DRAWINGS, ALL REINFORCEMENT INCLUDING TIES AND STIRRUPS SHALL BE HIGH TENSILE, THE FOLLOWING STANDARD ABBIATIONS ARE USED IN CALLING UP GRADES OF REINFORCEMENT: - HIGH TENSILE STEEL BARS : HA or T - MILD STEEL BARS : Ø STEEL HAVING A MINIMUM YIELD STRESS = 42 Kg/cm2. - UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, SPLICE LENGTHS SHALL BE 50Ø. 8- CONCRETE COVER: - THE MINIMUM CONCRETE PROTECTIVE COVER FOR REINFORCEMENT SHALL BE AS FOLLOWS: a) 3 CM FOR DECK SLAB b) 5CM FOR ALL MANHOLES, FOUNDATIONS AND WALLS - CLASS F( 2FAIR FACING) FORM WORK SHALL BE APPLIED FOR ALL INTERNAL CONCRETE SURFACES, OTHER WISE AS SHOWN ON DRAWINGS OR AS DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER. - TWO COATS OF BITUMINOUS PAINT SHALL BE APPLIED TO ALL EXTERNAL CONCRETE SURFACES IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH EARTH. - TWO COATS OF COAL TAR EPOXY PAINT SHALL BE APPLIED TO ALL INTERNAL CONCRETE SURFACES OF ALL TYPES OF SEWER MANHOLES, INSPECTION CHAMBERS. 9- GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATION: - THE CONTRACTOR HAS TO CONDUCT HIS OWN GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATIONS AND TO PROPOSE COMPLETE FINAL DESIGN WITH CALCULATION SHEETS AND DRAWINGS FOR ALL STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS TO BE APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER. - IF SOIL IS NOT SUITABLE FOR THE ALLOWABLE AVERAGE TOE PRESSURE, MASS CONCRETE TO REQUIRED DEPTH IS TO BE CAST UNDER FOOTING AS INSTRUCTED BY ENGINEER. 10- CONCRETE: - ALL CLASSES OF CONCRETE ARE TO BE NORMAL WEIGHT (25 kg/m3), WELL MADE AND EXECUTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS. - REINFORCED CONCRETE SHOULD HAVE A MINIMUM 28 DAYS DESIGN COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH ON STANDARD 15 x 30cm CYLINDER 25MPa OTHERWISE AS INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS. - BLINDING CONCRETE SHOULD HAVE A MINIMUM 28 DAYS DESIGN COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH ON STANDARD 15 x 30cm CYLINDER: F'c =11 Mpa. - FOR CYCLOPEAN CONCRETE, THE MINIMUM CEMENT CONTENT SHALL BE 150 kg/m.concrete FOR SCREENING SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM CEMENT CONTENT of 2 kg/m. - FOR STRUCTURAL CONCRETE, THE MINIMUM CEMENT CONTENT SHALL BE 350 kg/m. - ALL CEMENT FOR CONCRETE OTHER THAN SEWAGE STRUCTURES SHALL BE ORDINARY PORTLAND CEMENT TYPE I (ASTM). - ALL CEMENT FOR SEWAGE STRUCTURES SHALL BE SULFATE RESISTING CEMENT TYPE V (ASTM). 11- UTILITIES: - THE CONTRACTOR MUST IMMEDIATELY ON BEING AWARDED THE PROJECT, CONTACT ALL AUTHORITIES AND DEPARTMENTS CONCERNED IN LOCATING AND DIVERTING TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT EXISTING UTILITIES THAT WOULD INTERFERE WITH HIS WORK. THE CONTRACTOR MUST INSURE NO DAMAGE OF ANY NATURE OCCUR TO DISRUPT THEM. ANY DAMAGE DUE TO ANY REASON IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR AND HE MUST IMMEDIATELY CORRECT AND BEAR ALL COSTS. THE CONCERNED UTILITIES ARE NAMELY: OVERHEAD OR UNDERGROUND ELECTRIC CABLES AND POLES, STREET LIGHTING CABLES AND POLES, MANHOLES AND PIPES, STORM WATER DRAINAGE INLETS, MANHOLES AND PIPES, TELEPHONE DUCTS, JUNCTION BOXES AND WATER SUPPLY PIPES AND VALVES. 12- ALL GRAVITY PIPES SHALL BE AS FOLLOWS: A. PIPES WITH INTERNAL DIAMETERS BETWEEN Ø150 MM TO Ø3MM INCLUSIVE, SHALL BE OF UPVC AS SPECIFIED. B. SEWER PIPES WITH INTERNAL DIAMETERS BETWEEN Ø4 MM TO Ø6MM INCLUSIVE, SHALL BE OF RC AS SPECIFIED. C. PIPES WITH INTERNAL DIAMETERS GREATER THAN 6MM SHALL BE GRP AS SPECIFIED AND TO BE APPROVED BY ENGINEER. 13- TOPOGRAPHY: - THE CONTRACTOR MUST SUBMIT A VERY DETAILED SURVEY FOR THE PROJECT AREA ESPECIALLY FOR EVERY LOCATION OF BRIDGES AND RETAINING WALLS TO DEFINE THE EXACT EXTENT AND HEIGHT. 14- THE GROUND ELEVATIONS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS REFLECT THE EXISTING SITUATION AT THE TIME THE SURVEYING WAS DONE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR VERIFYING THIS DATA, AND NO ADDITIONAL COST WILL BE CONSIDERED IN RESPECT TO ANY INACCURACY OR OMISSION. SOME OF THE STREET LEVELS WILL BE SUBJECT TO MODIFICATIONS DEPENDING ON FINAL GRADING AND ASPHALTING OF STREETS WHICH IS BEING CARRIED OUT BY THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES, HENCE THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MODIFY MANHOLE COVER TO MATCH THE FINAL PAVED SURFACES WHICH SHALL BE INDICATED AT THE TIME OF THE EXECUTION OF THE WORKS, ALL AS DIRECTED AND APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER. 15- IN PRINCIPLE, GRAVITY PIPES ARE LOCATED AS SHOWN ON THE DETAILED DRAWINGS FOR LOCATION OF UTILITIES UNDER ROADS. FINAL LOCATIONS SHALL BE MODIFIED TO SUIT OTHER EXISTING UTILITIES IN THE STREET ALL AS DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER 16- WHERE THE STREET LIMITS ARE NOT DEFINED ON THE SITE BY ACTUAL BUILDINGS OR REFERENCE POINTS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL, BEFORE INSTALLING ANY PIPE OR STRUCTURE, CONSULT WITH THE MUNICIPALITY TO ESTABLISH THE NECESSARY REFERENCE POINTS. 17- ALL PIPE DIAMETERS AND OTHER DIMENSIONS ARE SHOWN IN MILLIMETERS UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED AND ALL ELEVATIONS ARE IN METERS. 18- WHENEVER THE DRAWINGS SHOW A FUTURE LINE CONNECTING TO A MANHOLE THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE AND INSTALL A STUB WITH A REMOVABLE PLUG. FIELD CUT OPENING WILL NOT BE PERMITTED. 20- MANHOLE STEPS AND HANDBAR SHALL BE GALVANIZED STEEL WITH 2 GRAMS OF ZINC PER SQUARE METER AND COVERED WITH TWO LAYERS OF POLYETHYLENE (PE) OR POLYPROPYLENE. 21- THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE OPENING IN THE INSPECTION CHAMBER TO ACCOMMODATE FUTURE HOUSE CONNECTION AS APPROVED BY THE ENIGNEER. THIS OPENING WILL BE FITTED WITH A REMOVABLE PLUG.LOCATION OF INSPECTION CHAMBERS IS SUBJECT TO SUIT LOCAL CONDITIONS AND AS APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER. 22- Y-SERVICE CONNECTIONS TO BE USED ONLY IF APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER. 23- THE MINIMUM VERTICAL CLEARANCE BETWEEN STORM & SEWER PIPES AT CROSSINGS SHALL BE 30cm, OTHERWISE, CONCRETE ENCASEMENT SHALL BE IMPLEMENTED FOR THE STORM PIPE. 24- CONSTRUCTION METHOD: - THE CONTRACTOR HAS TO PREPARE CONSTRUCTION METHOD AND PROGRAM OF WORK TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION SAFETY AND NON-STOP TRAFFIC ALONG THE ROAD. - NO WORK WILL BE ALLOWED PRIOR TO PLACING ALL THE REQUIRED TEMPORARY AND SAFETY SIGNS, TRAFFIC LIGHTS,FLAGS ETC WHEER AND WHENEVER REQUIRED.
