Gollie sees what it feels like to be royalty, Bink attempts to make herself taller with the Stretch-O-Matic, and the two of them try to collect enough gold stars to make it into Flicker s Arcana of the Extraordinary. Through it all, they become closer and remain best friends. (Geisel) Harper, C. M. (2013). Bean Dog and Nugget: The Ball. New York: Alfred A. Knopf Bean Dog finds a new ball and is super excited to share it with his friend, Nugget. When he throws it to her, it bounces off of her and into an evil bush. The two friends devise several ways to get the ball until they settle on their one successful plan. Once they get their ball back, they discover it was more fun getting it out of the bushes than actually having it with them! (Graphic Novel)

Benny believes the new girl next door has stolen his bucket, so him and his sister, Penny, commit a big no-no and climb over the fence into her yard to find it. After misjudging her as a monster from her footprints and attacking her with mud, Benny and Penny come to realize she didn t take their bucket after all. Chico is the son of a migrant worker in California. His family moves often, following the crops, and Chico moves from school to school, finding it difficult to make friends and feel settled. First Day in Grapes chronicles his failures and successes of his first day at school after his father has started working the grape crop. Chico is able to make a few friends and stand up to a few bullies as well. (Pura Belpre) Willems, Mo (2008). Are You Ready to Play Outside?. New York: Hyperion Books for Children. Piggie and Gerald are ready to play outside until it starts to rain. Piggie is upset and feels like their day is ruined. His friend, Gerald, shows him there are ways to still have fun, whether it is raining or not. Are You Ready to Play Outside is a great book about friendship and ingenuity. (Easy Reader)

4 Willems, M. (2011). I Broke My Trunk. New York: Hyperion Books for Children. Piggie cannot wait to hear how Gerald broke his trunk. Gerald tells Piggie about all the people he balanced on his trunk. Piggie finally finds out Gerald did not break his trunk balancing all of those people, he broke it when he tripped running to tell Piggie the story. Piggie thinks it is so funny that he runs to tell his friends, tripping and breaking his nose in the process. (Geisel) Wilems, M. (2012). Let s Go For a Drive Gerald wants to go on a drive with Piggie, but he must be prepared. He asks Piggie to get all kinds of things for their trip from sunglasses to a map. When he ask Piggie about bringing a car, he realizes none of them own one, ruining their chances of going for a drive. Although he is bummed, his friend Piggie takes all of the things they collected to make a pirate ship. (Geisel) Willems, Mo (2012). Listen to My Trumpet. Piggie has gotten a trumpet and wants to play it for Gerald. When he starts playing, it is really loud and off key. Piggie asks Gerald what he thought after he is finished, and Ger- ald is scared to tell the truth and hurt Piggie s feelings. Come to find out, Piggie was trying to sound like an elephant! (Easy Reader) Willems, M. (2014). My New Friend is so Fun!. Gerald and Snake are excited both of their best friends are spending time together. After discussing what their best friends would be doing, Gerald and Snake are scared they will have so much fun they will forget all about them. After confronting them. Gerald and Snake discover their friends have been thinking about them the whole the time. (Easy Reader)
