Joshua Parcell, age 9 A funny book written in a very interesting format. Hilo is a boy robot with some incredible powers, he has never seen a planet like Earth before! It takes a lot of getting used whilst escaping from the evil robots... the book leaves you on a cliffhanger. Oliver Lonsdale, age 9 Very funny book, absolutely excellent, makes you want to read more. This book is about a robot boy called Hilo who falls to earth knowing nothing about himself. He discovers he has super powers and his earthly friends try to stop a monster from Hilo's world from destroying the earth. I liked it because it s in comic form, it s very funny and easy to read and I can t wait for the next one. My sister age 11 also loved it. Bella, age 9 I loved sharing this book with my Dad he doesn't normally read but we read this in three days. This is the first time I read a graphic novel and it was brilliant I loved reading about Hilo. The story was really funny and the pictures were brilliant but what I loved most was sharing the book with my dad. My dad is dyslexic and can't

2 really read with me but as soon as he saw this book he said he wanted to read it with me. We read it in three days and my dad said when book two comes out we have to read it! Toby Little, age 9 Even though I don t like comic books, I really loved this one. Having a main character who doesn t know anything about himself is mysterious. I can t wait to read it again. Hilo is an amazing book. It s about a boy who crashes down to earth. He does not remember anything, and his new friends on planet Earth are called D.J. and Gina. Unthinkable things happen and the story has a big surprise. If I tell you more, I ll have to tell you the whole story! Even though I don t like comic books, I really loved this one. The drawings have a lot of colour. Having a main character who doesn t know anything about himself is mysterious. The words were very easy to read so it is a good book for beginners. The plot was interesting and easy to follow so I read it in one go. I can t wait to read it again. The description of the book at the top of the front cover is right as it says Every kid would love a pal like Hilo, and every kid will love this book. which I think is just about right. At the end it says End of book one so I can t wait to read the rest of the series. So, if you also want to know Hilo s secret then you ll just have to read the book as well. The pictures are amazing and I'm going to try and draw the bugs. It is VERY funny as Hilo learns about life on Earth and Hilo is SOOOOO cool. He can shoot lasers out of his hands! Although there is danger, it is not a scary book and it taught me that you can be friends with people who are not the same as you. Hilo can t remember ANYTHING!! A few days later when Hilo and DJ are playing, they get attacked by a GIANT robot, which may be linked to Hilo s past and could possibly smash him into smithereens! What happens next?? Does Hilo die? Where does Hilo come from? Does Hilo get his memory back? You will have to read the book to find out! We recommend this book to 6+ comic readers who like superheroes as the book only has a few words and could be read with a parent. We give it 5*****. Lewis Briggs 10 Possibly one of the coolest books on Earth! It is written in comic form and has a cliff-hanger at the same time. My favourite part is when Hilo crashes to Earth. This book is about a boy who crashed on Earth from outer space. This is a comic strip story and I have never read this type of book before so I found it quite tricky to tell what was happening sometimes. I had to read and look at the pictures carefully. I would recommend this book to someone who likes adventure stories. It is a long book in chapters but it is quick to read because it is a comic strip. I liked this book because it is funny and sometimes a bit rude like when Hilo burps and only wears his pants. Aidan Wood, age 7 This is a comic book about Hilo who comes to earth from another galaxy and helps defeat some monsters. This book is written in a comic style, which I wouldn't normally choose. Although I do like Asterix books. I didn't think I would like this book to start with as the beginning is a bit weird with lots of ""Aaaahh"" and not many other words or descriptions. I did enjoy it,

4 but it took me less than half an hour to read it all. The story is about Hilo who comes from another galaxy in a big meteor with robot bugs. He meets a boy called DJ who becomes his friend on Earth. It is quite funny that Hilo doesn't know anything about things that are normal on earth. Overall the pictures were colourful, but I'd have liked a bit more description in the story. As it was book one of what looks like being a series it stopped a bit abruptly and I was a bit disappointed that it ended so soon. I think you'd need to be about my age to understand this book as it could be a bit confusing for younger children. Gianna Smith, age 7 Hilo doesn't know what he is or where he came from. His brain is like a busted book with lots of pages missing. Alien or Government experiment? I thought it was very funny. There is a surprise along the way. There are two totally normal kids called D.J and Gina. One day D.J found a boy, his name was Hilo. Hilo asked 'Where do you live?' D.J pointed to his house. Hilo ran to D.J's house and saw rice and milk. He asked 'What is this? pointing to the rice and what is this liquid? D.J thought Hilo was either an Alien or a Government experiment - Not only did Hilo not know what rice and milk were but he was walking around only in silver underpants. This book is not like any other book I have ever read. The comic strip drawings are realistic. Hilo doesn't know what he is or where he came from. His brain is like a busted book with lots of pages missing and holes. You should read it and it makes you want to read on. Some bits are quite hard to understand for young children. Iulia Motoc, age 9 Exciting, very easy to read and excellent illustrations, all in one comic style book! It was a very exciting book, with easy to read writing and excellent illustrations. It was the first one of this cartoon-style comic book I have ever read. I cannot wait to read the next book of Hilo's adventures with DJ and Gina.

5 Fernando Menendez, age 8 An exciting short book which is easy to read. It has plenty of fantastic colourful pictures which make it a fun read. I recommend it, you'll enjoy the ending too! He has two friends D.J. and Gina who help him (Hilo) get around and make friends. However, there is a bad person who sends a monster down to Earth in order to get Hilo and destroy planet Earth. The best part is at the end but I won t spoil it for you!
