2 Kalle and her Favourite Traditional Game Hey Kalle! What are you doing? Do you need my help? I am picking pebbles for my new set of 5 pebbles game. Do you want to join me? Pebbles game? 5 Pebbles is a traditional game that my parents used to play when they were young. My siblings and I love to paint these pebbles with rainbow colours before playing with them. 2

3 Sounds fun! Kalle, can I play too? We can even paint the pebbles together! Sure, let s play this game together with Sher, Tomeo and Tosh. Wow, such beautiful pebbles! It is our tradition to paint the pebbles with rainbow colours like this! 3

4 This game is played by two or more players. A point is scored when a player completes the four steps in throwing and catching the five pebbles. The aim is to score as many points as possible! (Refer to the next page for full set of game instructions) Now, you try it! Ahhhhh... Oh no... The pebbles are everywhere! Not bad, Tosh! (giggles) 4

5 5 Pebbles A traditional game in Kindsville The objective of the game is to score as many points as possible. To score a point, a player has to complete a number of 4 steps. Game Play Place all 5 pebbles on the ground. Toss one pebble in the air. Pick up one pebble and catch the pebble in the air before it falls to the ground. Repeat this step until you have all five pebbles in your hand. Toss one pebble, and pick up two: Repeat the process, but this time pick up two pebbles before catching the tossed pebble. On the second throw, pick up the two remaining pebbles. Toss one pebble, and pick up three: Repeat it again, picking up three pebbles and then one pebble. Toss one pebble, and pick up four: Finally, pick up all four pebbles before catching the tossed pebble. If at any point in time the player fails to complete this set of four steps, he/she will have to forfeit his turn. 5

It is a day to remember the 1964 Racial Riots, which took place on 21 July Racial Harmony Day is a day when you learn more about different cultures and different races. Despite our differences, we should live together harmoniously! RACIAL HARMONY IN SCHOOL On this day, you are encouraged to get to know your friends of other races and religions a little better! Spend some time talking with them and understanding their way of life and their traditions. 6

8 Create a Family Tree Have you ever wondered where your parents and grandparents came from? Create a diagram like this and start on your family tree adventure! You could even find out their country of origin and why they migrated. E.g. Great-grandparents Great-grandparents Grandparents Grandparents Dad Mom You I grew up in Heartcity. When my family and I moved from Heartcity to Kindsville, everyone here was so nice to us! They made me feel a sense of belonging. 8

14 You Tube Kind of Friends Sher desperately wants to join the clique of the Prissy Princesses, the two royal daughters of the Prussian clan and the most glamourous duo in Kindsville. Sadly, they brushed her off, claiming her group of friends are just too weird. Watch the animation to find out how Singa and the Kindness cubbies helped Sher to gain the trust of the Prissy Princess, and if they eventually accept her as a friend. 14

15 Activity In the animation, Kara and Karina called Sher s friend a maid. Do you think it is nice to name anyone as a maid? Do you have a helper/caregiver at home who takes care of you and helps out with household chores? They are usually the ones who demonstrate care and concern to you and your family! If you would like to express your appreciation and thank your helper/caregiver who has been taking care of you, complete this thank you card. 15
