3 OUR STORY PHILOSOPHY In 2001 ARROJO Studio opened in SoHo in a tiny six-chair space, and with a staff of just five people. Today, ARROJO Studio employs 30 full time stylists and 25 full time apprentices in a stunning 4500 square foot salon. Our growth is born out of education. Since day one Nick Arrojo s dedication to further educating himself and his already highly skilled team has been as inspiring as it has successful. Nowadays Nick and ARROJO master stylists teach seminars across the world (Milan, Lisbon, Frankfurt, Chicago, L.A. Minneapolis, and Toronto to name a few from the last year). And in our New York home, we ve been educating hairdressers from all across the States for the past six years with our own inspirational and trendsetting seminars. In fact, ARROJO Education has proved so popular and effective, that we ve outgrown our space. So we ve opened the first-ever academy dedicated to the promotion of advanced, inspiration-based education for all hairdressers. Getting a cosmetology license shouldn t be the end of your education; it should be the beginning. Imagine if you knew, and we mean really knew, how to create controlled, face-framing shape, how to introduce layers, and how to execute a graduated razor cut. And that s just the beginning. We know so much more about cutting, color, and business building, and we want to share our insights with you. Because teaching others makes us better hairdressers ourselves. And more than that, we re committed to raising standards in our craft. We want all hairdressers to be better hairdressers because we love our craft: it s creative, it s fun, and we get to make people beautiful. 4 CLASSES new ARROJO Inspiration Color & Cut Inspiration Classic Cuts 1 Classic Cuts 2 (2 Day Class) The ARROJO Inspiration class focuses on the latest theories and trends in scissor and razor cutting; over the two days you will explore their relationship with both consumer and editorial styling. The seminar starts with ARROJO creative expression, as we platform demonstrations that highlight how to approach each individual cut and transform real people. Then you take to the platform, working on trendsetting concepts that will shape the future of hairdressing. Discover new razor and scissor cutting techniques, as well as insight and ideas in this flair-filled class focused on creation. (2 Day Class) This is an intimate, hands-on two-day seminar. The focus is on the symbiotic relationship between cut and color, highlighting how important they are to one another s success. Through theory, demos, and workshops learn to improve the shape and style of each cut with correct color placement and tone; practice modern techniques in scissor and razor cutting; master the X pattern highlighting technique for the best use of natural parting and fall; and discover increased versatility with contemporary cutting techniques that give you the creative edge. (3 Day Class) Classic Cuts is our commitment to revitalizing interest and appreciation for the classic techniques of hairdressing. We believe the onelength-lines, graduation, and layering techniques explored in this seminar are absolutely essential for successful salon hairdressing. If these techniques are right, all your haircuts, no matter what shape or style, will improve; and you ll also have a rock-solid foundation from which to build your creative repertoire. For this back to basics class we exclusively use scissors as we explore geometric yet organic shapes. We advocate any serious hairdresser, hell-bent on self-improvement, taking a class like this at least once a year. Facilitated by ARROJO Studio master stylists. (3 Day Class) Classic Cuts 2 continues to explore classic scissor cutting technique, as applied to geometric yet organic shapes. Over the three days, watch, practice, and master three cuts that will improve your technical precision and creative awareness: Classic Long Layer shows the right approach to layering from the front to create maximum face-framing shape, while retaining weight and structure through the back; Classic Round Graduation displays how to create a perfect rounded layer shape, elegantly crafted from the front; and Classic Short Graduation reveals techniques for creating an ultra-tight nape, and a pronounced head shape the fundamentals of all short hair-cutting. Learning these techniques increases control, flexibility, and style, and empowers each stylist to improve all cuts, from the most simple to the most dynamic. 6 7

Each day begins with live demos before you step forward and execute these concepts in hands-on workshops. With the insights of the ARROJO master team, Razor Fundamentals gives you the solid base to unlock the complete freedom of your razor, taking your creative edge to the next level. 8 Razor Advanced (3 Day Class) A class to unlock your true creative potential, Razor Advanced focuses on ultra-modern, trendsetting, and highly sophisticated razorcutting. Over the three days, master stylist demonstrations show you how to texturize, create swinging bangs, and panel cut; how to form both geometric and rounded shapes; how to create a weightless line with swing and movement; how to shape rounded bangs; how to undercut the back sections, and how to use a razor when cutting closer to the roots. After each demo you ll execute these techniques in workshops as you find increased hairdressing flexibility, more creative freedom, and boosted confidence. All while your razor work becomes increasingly modern and sexy. ARROJO Styles (2 day class) The ARROJO Styles class teaches how to take the classic shapes of hairdressing and turn them into sensational editorial looks. Using rollersetting techniques, hot irons, product usage, and extensions, ARROJO master stylists show you how to create fashion-forward looks with the classic hairdressing tools. Day one begins with an editorial video, and a model presentation of our latest looks. Then we demonstrate French Twists, Chignon Buns, and Ponytails, before you practice them in mannequin workshops. Day two starts with a slideshow of the different editorial looks we produce, then we demo Braids, Marcel Waves, and Weft Work, which leads into a hands-on workshop where you practice these skills yourself. ARROJO Styles is a one-of-akind class, giving you the editorial experience of ARROJO master stylists. Up Close With Nick (2 Day Class) Our most business-focused seminar. Facilitated by Nick Arrojo, Up Close With Nick gives salon owners, creative directors, and other budding business builders the chance to exchange, practice, and discuss ideas for mutual growth. Under Nick s personal guidance you ll analyze the theories, trends, techniques, and best business practices in modern hairdressing. You ll watch sophisticated scissor and razor demos by Nick and ARROJO master stylists before you implement these concepts yourself, in hands on workshops. Then we unlock your inner passion, as we share proven business practices that will maximize the productivity and profitability of your business, without expanding your salon space. This event is a true meeting of the minds and provides a unique platform for renewed vigor and vision. After class we ll have a team dinner in the Academy to share thoughts and ideas, have fun and relax. 9

6 CLASSES (continued) TEAM Boot Camp (4-Week Course, Seminars 5-days Per Week) Boot Camp is the perfect seminar for new cosmetology graduates looking for a head start in their career, and experienced stylists looking to take time out to refresh and improve their skill-set. Each week has a different focus, with each session structured to aid your development, and lead elegantly into the next piece of learning. In week one the focus is classic scissor cutting. Key techniques include, the execution of a clean line, strong shape and structure, working from a short to long layer, and modern graduations. The goal is to improve each student s approach to cutting classic geometric shape. Week two is color-focused. Everything from single processes, highlights and slices, to creative and corrective color is practiced. The aim is to improve each student s understanding of color, while expanding creativity. In week three, classic men s cutting, such as long layers, square layers, graduation, and scissor over comb, are brought into sharp focus. Featured techniques include: eliminating bulk for a soft and textured look; blending texture, elevation, and strong shape; and creating definitive, detailed looks with modern, lived-in style. In week four, we introduce the art and technique of razor-cutting. Students practice cutting classic shapes with a razor one length lines, graduation, and layering as well as trendconscious techniques such as asymmetry, disconnection, and undercutting. Then, on the final day, we provide you with a model for you to produce and present one look that weaves together all the skills you ve learned over the four-week course. Boot Camp will provide renewed motivation for a lifetime of success in the industry. Leading our education team are Amanda, Lina, James, and Nick. Combined, they have more than 60 years at the top of the hairdressing craft and have developed the world-renowned ARROJO approach to modern and creative, precision-based hairdressing. Incisive, inspirational educators they all boast fierce technical accuracy in addition to the creative and trend awareness that puts them amongst the world s leading stylists, in demand for photo-shoots, shows and seminars the world over. With a refreshingly simple philosophy to teach techniques all stylists can use to improve their work on the salon floor each day, these four educators are the mainstay of our team. Supported by fellow stylists from our studio, they lead and facilitate each one of our seminars. All support educators also have a proven track record and an acute awareness of our precision-based method of creative hairdressing. With several skilled educators in each seminar, we offer each attendee lots of individual attention, whilst maintaining the highest possible standards of learning

7 UPCOMING SEMINAR DATES 2010 WHAT TO EXPECT Experienced, highly skilled educators facilitating in a down-to-earth and relaxed environment. For every six people attending class, they ll be one ARROJO educator. Expect high-quality mannequin or model demos and workshops that use innovative techniques and fresh thinking to stir your imagination. We teach techniques that are useable everyday on the salon floor and are sure to improve your hairdressing, your client communication, and your business building - you will work hard and you will talk and think about hair. When you use mannequin heads in the workshops, you are free to take them home afterwards. Expect motivational, encouraging facilitators, driving you towards growth, with the inspiration to to define your own hairdressing. POLICIES You must have a valid cosmetology license to be eligible for these seminars. Cancellations with more than 6-weeks notice prior to scheduled seminar: 10% fee applies. Cancellations with less than 6-weeks notice prior to scheduled seminar: 50% fee applies. ARROJO academy reserves the right to cancel any class based upon unforeseen circumstances. In this instance we will provide 6-weeks notice and reimburse the full tuition fee. ARROJO assumes no other liability for costs. Full tuition includes course working material and your mannequin or model. You must supply your own scissors and razors, combs and brushes. Nick Arrojo makes his best effort to be at each seminar session, however, due to scheduling constraints, this cannot be guaranteed for every seminar.
