3 /2007 Function: Ph.D. candidate (AIO) at the Integrated Optical MicroSystems (IOMS) Group of the Mesa+ Research Institute for nanotechnology at the University of Twente, The Netherlands. Thesis title: Optimization of PECVD Boron-Phosphorus doped silicon oxynitride for low-loss optical waveguides. Task accomplished: Development and optimization of a new technology for PECVD silicon oxynitride (SiON) tailored to the needs of integrated optical devices. Characterization of PECVD SiON (SiO2 to Si3N4) layers for use in low-loss optical waveguides. Teaching (10%) courses including, Optics, Thermodynamics, materials science, and students practical (Light-waves Devices Fabrication Lab) /2002 Function: M.Sc student at the Integrated Optical MicroSystems (IOMS), Group of the Mesa+ Research Institute for nanotechnology at the University of Twente. Subject: Thermal treatment of PECVD silicon oxynitride based waveguiding structures. Tasks accomplished: PECVD deposition and optical characterization of silicon oxynitride layers. Study the effect of heat treatment on PECVD silicon oxynitride layers properties. Tasks accomplished: Building of an electronic circuit for high frequency driving and protecting of the Laser Diode. Realization of a complete semiconductor laser source used for distance measurement.

EXPERIMENTAL SKILLS & SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE Nano and Micro fabrication Hands-on experience with various IC, nano- and micro-systems technologies including: - Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD). - Photolithography - cleanroom fabrication using UV photolithography for device patterning. - Sputtering deposition techniques, - Evaporation deposition techniques, - Etching techniques including reactive ion etching, chemical wet etching, - Wet oxidation and thermal annealing. Metrology (thin films, bulk materials and devices) Structural, Optical and electrical characterization (thin films and solar cells) - X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM). - Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). - Step Profiler (Veeco Dektak 8). - X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). - Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy (RBS). - Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). - Spectroscopic Ellipsometry (SE). - Prism coupling techniques. - Lifetime Spectroscopy (Sinton lifetime SetUp) SOFTWARE Experience with CAD-software for designing integrated optical components: - Menufast, Atrguide, Slab, Indexfit, Simulayer, and Clewin. Special software: JMP, Multipak, Rump, Evolver, OriginPRO, Peakfit, CorelDRAW, Knowledge in design of experiments (DoE) and data analysis using JMP software.
