8 Following the following steps to produce your initial model to be used in your materials/finishes research. To showcase a variety of finishing and material techniques you will be testing four different types. Photographs will be taken and annotation will need to be added also explaining your findings. - On a piece of A4 paper I would like you to draw a shape. This should be approximately half the size of the sheet. - Once drawn show me the shape to determine whether it is large enough. - This then needs to be cut out using a pair of scissors and this creates your template. 1 Spray Paint The tests you will carry out will be: 2 Wood Varnish 3 Coloured wood stain 4 Bees wax - Then take your template a draw around it carefully on your piece of MDF. - Once drawn put the piece of MDF into a vice and use a coping saw to cut it out. - Once cut out use sand paper/belt sander and a file to shape and finish the base. - Once sanded to finish you will then need to apply sand and sealer. - The above process will be repeated three times. - Once sanded off, primer needs to be applied. - Then a choice of spray paint can be evenly added.
