Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing the products specified in this section with minimum five years of documented experience. D. Manufacturer Qualifications: Member in good standing of the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) or the Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of Canada (AWMAC) and familiar with the AWI/AWMAC QSI. E. Quality Certification: Provide inspection and quality certification of completed custom cabinets in accordance with AWI/AWMAC Quality Certification Program DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Protect units from moisture damage and other types of damage FIELD CONDITIONS A. During and after installation of custom cabinets, maintain temperature and humidity conditions in building spaces at same levels planned for occupancy EXTRA MATERIALS A. Provide one box of each type of shelf support bracket and/or pin. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.01 WOOD-BASED COMPONENTS A. Wood fabricated from old growth timber is not permitted LUMBER MATERIALS A. Softwood Lumber: NIST PS 20; Graded in accordance with AWI/AWMAC Architectural Woodwork Quality Standards Illustrated, Grade II/Custom; average moisture content of 4-9 percent; species as follows: 1. Internal Construction: Species - any allowed by AWI standards. B. Hardwood Lumber: NHLA; Graded in accordance with AWI/AWMAC Architectural Woodwork Quality Standards Illustrated, Grade I/Premium; average moisture content of 4-9 percent; species as follows: 1. Exposed Stiles and Rails: Species - Birch, Quarter or Rift Sliced. 2. Semi-Exposed Surfaces: Species - Birch, Plain Sliced. 3. Concealed Surfaces: Species - Any allowed by AWI PANEL MATERIALS A. Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF): ANSI A208.2; type as specified in AWI/AWMAC Architectural Woodwork Quality Standards Illustrated; composed of wood fibers pressure bonded with moisture resistant adhesive to suit application; sanded faces; thickness as required. 1. Use for painted components and concealed components. 2. Use as backing for plastic laminate unless otherwise indicated

Hardboard: AHA A135.4; Pressed wood fiber with resin binder, Class 1 - Tempered, 1/4 inch thick, smooth two sides (S2S); use for drawer bottoms, dust panels, and other components indicated on drawings. C. Hardwood Edgebanding: Use solid hardwood edgebanding matching species, color, grain, and grade for exposed portions of cabinetry LAMINATE MATERIALS A. Substitutions: Not permitted. B. High Pressure Decorative Laminate (HPDL): NEMA LD 3, types as recommended for specific applications and as follows: 1. Horizontal Surfaces: HGS, inch nominal thickness, color as selected, finish as selected. 2. Vertical Surfaces: VGS, inch nominal thickness, color as selected, finish as selected. 3. Post-Formed Horizontal Surfaces: HGP, inch nominal thickness, color as selected, finish as selected. 4. Flame Retardant Surfaces: HGF, inch nominal thickness, through color, colors as scheduled, finish as scheduled. 5. Cabinet Liner: CLS, inch nominal thickness, color as selected, finish as selected. 6. Laminate Backer: BKL, inch nominal thickness, undecorated; for application to concealed backside of panels faced with high pressure decorative laminate COUNTERTOPS A. Plastic Laminate for Countertops and Cabinets: Medium density fiberboard substrate covered with HPDL, conventionally fabricated, with decorative solid surfacing edge. B. Stainless Steel for Countertop in EMS Rooms - Type 304, #4 Satin finish, 16 GA 2.06 ACCESSORIES A. Adhesive: GSA CID A-A-1936 contact adhesive. B. Fasteners: Size and type to suit application. C. Bolts, Nuts, Washers, Lags, Pins, and Screws: Of size and type to suit application; galvanized or chrome-plated finish in concealed locations and stainless steel, or chrome-plated finish in exposed locations. D. Concealed Joint Fasteners: Threaded steel. E. Grommets: plastic material for cut-outs. 2-inch size unless noted otherwise on drawings. Locate as indicated on drawings. F. Door and Drawer Silencers: Rubber or neoprene "button" type, installed at all locations

4 G. Counter Supports: Provide steel as indicated on drawings to provide support of counter tops. Include additional steel as needed to provide necessary support when not shown HARDWARE A. Shelf Standards and Rests: recessed metal shelf standards. Install at all locations indicated on drawings, unless noted otherwise. B. Shelf Standards and Rests: multiple holes for pin supports. Install only at specific locations indicated on drawings. C. Drawer and Door Pulls: Aluminum with saitin finish, unless indicated otherwise on drawings. 1. "U" Shape Pull, 4" centers, Hafele, Model , or equal. Install at all locations except as listed below. 2. Extruded Pull, 4" wide, Hafele, Model , or equal. Install only as indicated on drawings. Fully mortise into top of drawer front. D. Cabinet Locks: Keyed cylinder, two keys per lock, master keyed, steel with satin finish. Provide all parts and pieces necessary for a full and complete installation. Determine model number by application. 1. Single Doors/Drawers: Hafele, Cylinder Module System, Dead Bolt Lock, or equal. 2. Double Doors: Hafele, Cylinder Module System, Double Dead Bolt Lock, or equal. 3. Multiple Drawers: Hafele, Cylinder Module System, Central Locking Single Pedestal, Front Mount, or equal. 4. Keying: a. Key all cabinets within a room identically. b. Furnish 5 keys for each room. c. Furnish 5 master keys. E. Catches: Touch type. 1. Hafele, Model , or equal. Install where indicated on drawings. F. Drawer Slides: Side mounted. Hafele Accuride, or equal. Rated for the following loads: 1. Box Drawer Slides: 100 lbf. 2. File Drawer Slides: 150 lbf. 3. Pencil Drawer Slides: 45 lbf. G. Hinges: Frameless concealed (European) type, 95 degrees of opening. 1. Hafele, Model , or equal. Self-closing type. Install at all locations except as listed below. 2. Hefele, Model , or equal. Free-swinging type. Install at flipper/pocket doors only. H. Filing Systems: Blum Metafile with lateral file accessories. Include all components necessary for a full and complete installation FABRICATION A. Cabinet Style: Flush overlay. B. Cabinet Doors and Drawer Fronts: Flush style. C. Drawer Construction Technique: Dovetail joints

5 D. Assembly: Shop assemble cabinets for delivery to site in units easily handled and to permit passage through building openings. E. Edging: Fit shelves, doors, and exposed edges with specified edging. Do not use more than one piece for any single length. F. Fitting: When necessary to cut and fit on site, provide materials with ample allowance for cutting. Provide matching trim for scribing and site cutting. G. Plastic Laminate: Apply plastic laminate finish in full uninterrupted sheets consistent with manufactured sizes. Fit corners and joints hairline; secure with concealed fasteners. Slightly bevel arises. Locate counter butt joints minimum 2 feet from sink cut-outs. 1. Apply laminate backing sheet to reverse side of plastic laminate finished surfaces. 2. Cap exposed plastic laminate finish edges with scheduled solid surfacing edging. H. Provide cutouts for louvers, plumbing fixtures, inserts, appliances, outlet boxes, and fixtures and fittings. Verify locations of cutouts from on-site dimensions. Prime paint cut edges. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 EXAMINATION A. Verify adequacy of backing and support framing. B. Coordinate sizes and locations of framing, blocking, furring, reinforcements, and other related units of Work specified in other Sections to ensure that interior architectural woodwork can be supported and installed as indicated. C. Verify location and sizes of utility rough-in associated with work of this section INSTALLATION A. Set and secure custom cabinets in place, assuring that they are rigid, plumb, and level. B. Use fixture attachments in concealed locations for wall mounted components. C. Use concealed joint fasteners to align and secure adjoining cabinet units and countertops. D. Carefully scribe casework abutting other components, with maximum gaps of 1/32 inch. Do not use additional overlay trim for this purpose. E. Secure cabinets to floor using appropriate angles and anchorages. F. Countersink anchorage devices at exposed locations. Conceal with solid wood plugs of species to match surrounding wood; finish flush with surrounding surfaces. G. Install deal trays where indicated on drawings. Fully mortise into countertop with countersunk fasteners to acheive flush appearance. H. Install inlaid metal plates of sizes indicated at locations shown on drawings. Fully mortise into countertop with countersunk fasteners to acheive flush appearance. I. Coordinate with installation of coiling counter doors. J. Coordinate with installation of security windows where indicated

6 K. Coordinate installation of display case door system where indicated. L. Coordinate installation of glass shelves and cable support system at display case ADJUSTING A. Test installed work for rigidity and ability to support loads. B. Adjust moving or operating parts to function smoothly and correctly CLEANING A. Clean casework, counters, shelves, hardware, fittings, drawer and cabinet interiors, and fixtures. END OF SECTION
