She ll be here July 20 and 21 and will be teaching 3 extraordinary classes! What a great opportunity to learn from an artist featured in Somerset Workshop! Check out the class schedule for all the details. Classes are filling rapidly, so reserve your seat today by calling us at #2 WE RE MOVING! Yup, we ve outgrown our shop on Old School Way and Main Street. Don t fret; we re not going far just 2 blocks south from our current shop! After August 1, 2012, we ll be located at the corner of Pitman House Lane and Old School Way. Some of our new neighbors will include Sweetwater Gallery, Grasshopper Flats, The Toy Chest, Artist Colony and Carol s Fine Gifts. The Cornerstone Inn is within view and there s a parking area right across the street! We re very excited about our move and thrilled that we ll have more space for classes and stamping supplies! First Nashville Quill Meet, July 14: If you have an interest in Paper Quilling, or are experienced and want to meet with other quillers, then this is the place for you. Wishful Thinking is hosting a Quill Meet every other month. A Quill Meet is where those with the passion for this paper art gather and share current work, new techniques (or old ones), and just enjoy each other s company. All are welcome. Bring your tools and paper, and let s get quilling. If you are brand new to the art never fear, we will have some tools and paper for you to use. There will be a nominal fee to cover paper costs, depending on the project you take on. Come and join us as often as you can. We meet July 14, Sept 15, and Nov 17 from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm this year. The Big Move! We will be closed July 25th through the 31st as we move into our new location. This is going to be a monumental task, but I have faith in Lara and Cheryl to keep us organized and on track. Cost: $10 Guest Artist: Dina Wakley. Have you ever wondered how to use spray inks? Join me and make this joyful, inky tag book using Dylusions ink sprays and stamps. I ll show you five techniques to use with the ink sprays (stenciling, wet on wet, ghosting, oil resist, and gesso resist). What s exciting is we ll make and fold the book structure from just one sheet of paper. Then we ll use fun and funky Dylusions stamps to decorate our book. It s a colorful explosion of joy! Please bring: Scissors; Adhesives (like Tombow Liquid glue w/the green lid or a glue stick). Optional to bring: Black Ranger Archival Ink Pad & Ranger Craft Mat. Cost: $49 Guest Artist: Dina Wakley. Come and learn about the ancient art of encaustics. We ll be using beeswax and irons to make fun and addicting beeswax collages. We ll play with stamps, inks, acrylic paint, beeswax oh my! We ll add positive quotes to make the book a wonderful message of hope and encouragement. The tags will go in an accordion book structure that I will show you how to create. Beeswax is fun and addictive come and play! Please bring: Basic Toolbox; Gel Medium or other strong adhesive for gluing tags into accordion (like Tombow glue with the green lid); Acrylic Paint in your favorite colors (we only need a little bit so don t bring a lot; if you don t have any, you can use mine); a small collection of Collage Papers and Fabrics that appeal to you. Optional to bring: Any of your favorite Stamps (I will bring in a large assortment, but bring any you like); Permanent Ink Pads (like Ranger Archival); Ranger Craft Mat. Cost: $49

Thurs, Aug 23 5:30pm 9:00 Guest Artist: Dina Wakley. Have you been curious about art journaling, but are not sure where to start? Come and play with me! We ll explore what art journaling is and I will teach you techniques for creating fun and expressive pages. We ll create backgrounds, image layers, and top texture. We ll make several pages and you ll get a fell for playing, experimenting, and being free with your art. I ll also give you some tips for page topics and writing on your pages. No previous art experience is necessary. Please bring: Basic Toolbox; White Acrylic Paints in an assortment of colors; Paintbrushes (one or two should be fine I prefer a large flat brush about ¾ foam brushes are not ideal); Pen for writing (such as an ultra-fine or extra-fine point Sharpie, Faber-Castell Pitt pen, or Sharpie Water based Poster-paint marker in extra-fine point). Optional to bring: a Journal to work in (we will be working in class on watercolor paper, but if you d like to work in a journal, feel free. Choose a journal with heavy pages, preferably watercolor paper); any Papers or Scraps or Pictures that inspire you (I ll be giving you an assortment of ephemera, but if you have something you love, feel free to bring it along); Ranger Craft Mat. We will create Tags of Summer inspired by and using many techniques from Tim Holtz s Tags of Christmas. A wide variety of Ranger products will be explored. Use the little compartments in this box to display all kinds of treasures and found objects. Please bring your basic toolbox, as well as Matte Medium w/brush, 2 sheets of scrapbook paper of your choice (we will have some available as well), and memorabilia or found objects that you would like to incorporate in your box.
