All activities are 6 and include entrance to the gallery for one adult and one child. All activities need to be booked in advance via: All activities use age-appropriate materials and techniques. 3 February Half Term. Tuesday 13th February. Snow Crafts. Enjoy the snow from the warmth of the classroom by making these unique snowflakes and using them in different crafts. Create a snow picture using chalk am -12noon: Learn how to make a unique snowflake and use it to make a hanging or a picture. 1pm pm: Learn how to make a unique snowflake and use it to make a hanging or a picture.. 3pm pm: Use your snowflakes to make Winter pictures and experiment with chalk to make a snowy picture. Wednesday 14th February. Paper Weaving Hearts. These paper woven hearts are easy and fun to make and are a great way of showing someone you care am -12noon: Learn how to weave using paper to make these beautiful hearts. 1pm pm: Try out different patterns to make your heart. 3pm pm: Weave a pocket heart to store a gift for a loved one. 4 February Half Term. Thursday 15th February. Happy Penguin Pictures. These adorable penguins will warm you up on the cold Winter days. We will paint a background using warm colours and then collage the cute penguin on top am -12noon: Templates can be provided for the younger children. 1pm pm: Collage these adorable penguins using a variety of materials. 3pm pm: Ideas can be given to make your picture more challenging. Friday 16th February. Lantern Making. Make a lantern to brighten up the dark February nights am -12noon: Children will make a lantern using a milk carton and tissue paper. 1pm pm: Children will be able to make different lanterns. 3pm pm: Children will be able to choose the style of lantern they wish to make. 5 Easter Holidays. Tuesday 3rd April. Styrofoam Ball Flowers. As Spring approaches the land comes alive with beautiful flowers. Why not create your own flower using a Styrofoam ball and scraps of material am -12noon: Children can explore colours and patterns, while making this flower. (Younger ones may need help using the knitting needle to push the fabric into the ball) 1pm pm: Make a beautiful flower using different fabrics. 3pm pm: Experiment with different patterns and fabrics. Wednesday 4th April. Paper Flowers. Decorate your house with these colourful flower crafts. Learn how to make flowers free standing and hanging decorations using a variety of papers and techniques am -12noon: Learn how to make a flower and brighten someone s day. 1pm pm: Explore different flower crafts. 3pm pm: Experiment with different techniques to make flower crafts. 6 Easter Holidays. Thursday 5th April. Shaving Foam Marbling. Come and try this marbling activity with a difference. Instead of using inks we will be using shaving foam and paint to create a fantastic marbling effect. Friday 6th April. Coffee Filter Flowers and Butterflies. Using only coffee filters, felt tip pens, water and pipe cleaners, you can make these magnificently coloured flowers and butterflies am -12noon: Experiment with colours and have fun watching the colours blend together. 1pm pm: Experiment with colours and blending. 3pm pm: Experiment with colours and blending. 7 Tuesday 10th April. Origami. Easter Holidays. Wednesday 11th April. Sculpting Bowls. You will be using nature to inspire you into making these magnificent bowls am -12noon: Children might need help sculpting the bowl. 1pm pm: Work with the materials to make a fantastic bowl. 3pm pm: Different ideas will be shown for inspiration. 8 Easter Holidays. Thursday 12th April. Paint a Flower Pot. Back by popular demand! Decorate a terracotta pot to display in your garden. We will use specialist paints to create interesting patterns and shapes. These make a great gift! 10.30am -12noon: Make your pot as unique as you like! 1pm pm: Make your pot as unique as you like! 3pm pm: Make your pot as unique as you like! Friday 13th April. Bird Feeders. Friday 13th not so lucky for some, but lucky for the birds as you make these feeders to keep the their little stomachs happy am -12noon: Younger children might need help threading hoops. 1pm pm: A variety of materials and designs given. 3pm pm: Be creative in your design, using the materials provided. 9 Tuesday 29th May. Woven Ojo de Dios (Gods Eye). The Ojo de Dios originated in Western Mexico. It celebrated the birth of a child and when they were complete they hung in the home. It was believed to be the eye of God watching over and protecting the child. Easy and fun to make and looks great hanging in your room. May Half Term am -12noon: Practise this easy weaving technique. (younger ones may need some help) 1pm pm: Experiment with different patterns. 3pm pm: Experiment with different patterns and wool. Wednesday 30th May. Stained Glass Effect Wire Butterflies. Using wire and a special type of resin we will create lovely wire butterflies. The special resin becomes transparent and so will allow the light to shine 10.30am -12noon: Younger children may need help bending the wire. 1pm pm: Have fun making these sculptures. 3pm pm: Have fun making these sculptures. 10 Thursday 31st May. Flower Mobile. Using the flowers and leaves found in the garden you can make this stunning flower mobile. Friday 1st June. Pond Dipping. Ever wonder what lurks at the bottom of your pond? With this activity we can find and identify different insects in their natural habitats. Magnifying glasses, pots and name trails are given to help identify the creatures am -12noon: Younger children must be supervised by the pond. 1pm pm: Younger children must be supervised by the pond. 3pm pm: A fun activity for all. 11 Summer Holidays. Thursday 26th July. Clock Making. Another favourite of ours. Paint and decorate your own wooden clock that will look perfect in your bedroom! You will then attach a mechanism so it s ready to hang as soon as you re home! 10.30am -12noon: Make your design as unique and complex as you like! Small, furry balls of fun! We will make pompoms using wool. 12 Summer Holidays. Tuesday 31st July. Experimenting with Water Colours. Water colours are great to use as they are so versatile and can be used in many different ways. Wednesday 1st August. Jelly Fish Salt Painting. 13 Summer Holidays. Thursday 2nd August. Stained Glass Effect Fish. These fish are made with layers of colourful tissue paper. When the sun shines through it highlights the different colours, given your fish depth and beauty am -12noon: Templates will be provided. 1pm pm: Children may need help cutting out their template. 3pm pm: Children will create their own designs. Friday 3rd August. Boat Challenge. Using only natural materials found outside in the garden, you will be challenged to build a boat. When all the boats are finished we will test them to see which boats float am -12noon: Children may need help fixing materials together. 1pm pm: Children can work alone or with a friend. 3pm pm: Children can work alone or with a friend. 14 Summer Holidays. Tuesday 7th August. Dream Catchers. Keep those bad dreams away with these self-made dream catchers. We will weave the centre with wool, and then decorate with beads and feathers am -12noon: Children may need help with the weaving. 1pm pm: Children can experiment with materials available. 3pm pm: Children can experiment with materials available. Wednesday 8th August. Rangoli. It is a tradition of Diwali to create beautiful Rangoli at the entrance to the house, to encourage their Goddess Lakshmi to enter. We will be creating our own Rangoli patterns which you can use to brighten your room am -12noon: Templates can be provided. 1pm pm: Children can use a template or create their own. 3pm pm: Children can be experiment with different techniques. 15 Summer Holidays. Thursday 9th August. African Inspired Silhouette Painting. Escape to the Plains of Africa with these stunning sunset silhouette pictures. We will use water colours to create a warm sunset/sunrise background and then cut out our silhouettes to stick on top of it am -12noon: Templates for silhouettes will be provided. 1pm pm: Children can use a template of design their own. 3pm pm: Children will be encouraged to design their own silhouette. Friday 10th August. Aboriginal Style Painting. The Aboriginal people used to perform dances and rituals and would decorate their bodies with patterns made up of dots. Eventually these were transferred onto fabric and paper. We will be using the dot technique to make these effective Aboriginal inspired pictures am -12noon: Children can use their fingers (finger painting) 1pm pm: Children will use paintbrush to create the dots. 3pm pm: Children can experiment with the size of dots when creating their picture. 16 Summer Holidays. Tuesday 14th August. Circle Tree Picture. Today we will be inspired by the work of Wassily Kandinsky who painted "Farbstudie Quadrate" (Squares with Concentric Circles/Rings). We will be collaging trees, using different size circles, different coloured paper and different types of paper to add texture to our trees am -12noon: Circles already cut for the younger ones. 1pm pm: Circle templates provided. 3pm pm: Circle templates provided. Wednesday 15th August. O Keeffe Flower Pictures. Georgia O Keeffe was an American artist and was well known for her paintings of enlarged flowers. Using chalks and pastels we will create our own enlarged flower pictures. We will look at the different effects that can be made by blending and rubbing the chalks and pastels am -12noon: Children will have fun and get messy as they rub the chalks. Templates can be provided for younger children. 1pm pm: Children will enjoy experimenting with the chalks and pastels. 3pm pm: Children will enjoy experimenting with the chalks and pastels. Page 16

17 Summer Holidays. Thursday 16th August. Batik Inspired by Paul Klee. Paul Klee was a great colourists. We will use his ideas to inspire us with this batik activity. Hot wax will be used to create the outline and then the gaps are filled using bright paints. The result a beautiful Batik picture am -12noon: Young children will need supervising with the wax. 1pm pm: Young children will need supervising with the wax. 3pm pm: Children can be creative with their design and the colours they use. Friday 17th August. Handimals. Guido Daniele is an Italian artist who is famous for his body painting. In this activity we will be painting our hands to look like animals. The paint will wash off, but until then the children can show off their Handimals 10.30am -12noon: Children can paint their own hand or their parents hand. 1pm pm: Children paint their own hand. 3pm pm: Children paint their own hand. 18 Summer Holidays. Tuesday 21st August. Paper Puppets. These cute paper bag puppets are easy to make and fun to play with. Make a couple and put on a show for family and friends am -12noon: Templates can be provided. 1pm pm: Children can collage different animals. 3pm pm: More challenging designs will be provided. Wednesday 22nd August. Felt Hand Puppets. With a needle and thread and some felt you can have fun making these hand-puppets. Why not get together with your friends to make a puppet show am -12noon: Young children may need help with sewing. 1pm pm: Young children may need help with sewing. 3pm pm: Stick or sew your design onto your puppet. 19 Summer Holidays. Thursday 23rd August. Sock Puppets. Does the sock monster keep eating your socks? Have you got odd socks left in the draw? Don t throw them away. Have some fun converting them into sock puppets. Children can stick things/sew things onto a sock to convert it from a boring old sock to an amazing creation am -12noon: Children will be sticking things onto the sock. 1pm pm: Children can stick or sew onto their socks. 3pm pm: Convert your sock into a sock monkey or dog. Friday 24th August. Shadow Puppets. We all love making shadows on the floor, changing them so they are bigger and smaller, chasing our shadows. Now you can make your own shadow puppets to use in a play and experiment with the effects of light and dark am -12noon: Templates can be provided. 1pm pm: Children can make their own designs, 3pm pm: Children can make the puppets, props and scenery. 20 Summer Holidays. Tuesday 28th August. Book in a Box. Do you enjoy reading? This book in a box is a fun way to enjoy a story, keeps your book safe or makes a good present to give someone who loves books am -12noon: Younger children can make a picture book. 1pm pm: Children can use pictures and words. 3pm pm: Recreate you favourite story in a box. Wednesday 29th August. Cross Stitch a Bookmark. These lovely bookmarks are a great way of remembering where you are in your book. Make it personal, or choose from one of the simple designs provided am -12noon: Young children may need help with sewing their name. 1pm pm: Children can stitch name or a simple picture. 3pm pm: Children can be shown backstitch/long stitch to add extra details. 21 Summer Holidays. Thursday 30th August. Aliens Love Underpants Collage. Do you love aliens? Do underpants make you giggle? Then you will love this activity. After reading the book we will be designing and collaging our own alien and then giving it some underpants to wear (also collaged) am -12noon: Younger children can choose to paint or collage. 1pm pm: Story will be used for inspiration. 3pm pm: Children will enjoy designing their own unique aliens. Friday 31st August. Harry Potter Crafts. 22 October Half Term. Tuesday 23rd October. Autumn Leaf Batik. It s that time of year again when the leaves are turning colour and the weather is getting colder. 23 October Half Term. Thursday 25th October. Skeleton Crafts. Trick or Treat! It s time to carve the pumpkins, find your scary costumes and dust off those skeletons. Friday 26th October. Stocking Making. Christmas is just around the corner. We can not accept bookings via or telephone and children who are not on the list will not be accepted on the activity (this is due to availability of resources).
