2 MD20 PLUS THE IDEAS TAKE SHAPE THE MD20 PLUS PRODUCES NON-HEATSEALABLE, DOUBLE-CHAMBER, KNOTTED BAGS FOR TEA AND HERBS AT SPEEDS OF UP TO 200 BAGS/MIN. To protect the naked bag, the MD20 PLUS produces crimped outer envelopes and in order to further preserve the flavour of the tea or herbs, it also processes totally airtight, waterproof, heatsealed outer envelopes. Greater variety is provided by the possibility of fitting different cartoning attachments starting from flat blanks or pre-erected cartons. Optional carton closing units handle tear-off, flip-top and other cartons styles. Production is constantly monitored by dedicated supervision software and a video camera which checks knotting and teabag conformity. 1 2

The outer envelope is sealed on three sides and shows a cut out notch for easy opening. 8 MD20 PLUS A CHOICE OF SOLUTIONS MD20 PLUS FOR NAKED BAGS WITH SEMI AUTOMATIC CARTONING ATTACHMENT A semi-automatic cartoning attachment allows the filling of pre-erected cartons with filter bags in the same combinations of the automatic system. The operator manually inserts the pre-erected cartons into the infeed conveyor and removes the filled cartons from the exit conveyor, the filling of the carton is automatically performed by the MD20 PLUS counting and stacking device. Starting from the traditional non heatsealable double chamber bag, the MD20 Plus guarantees, for the first time, a pure and natural flavour of tea with an ecological tea bag and a faultless thread s fixing. Without using any metal staples or other additional or contaminating materials, the MD20 Plus fixes the top fold of the bag by two subsequent knots made by the same connecting thread (without auxiliary thread). 13 Inkjet coding unit for boxes The MD20 Plus is equipped with a multirow automatic cartoning attachment from flat blanks able to count from 10 to 120 naked bags in rows and from 10 to 100 outer envelopes (crimped or heat sealed) in rows. The cartoning attachment automatically erects cartons from flat blanks, fills the carton (naked or outer envelopes) and closes the carton according to five different closure styles. 14 MD20 PLUS QUALITY AND EFFICIENCY Video camera for knot conformity control FILTER BAG CONFORMITY CONTROL A high precision video camera checks the knots area and memorizes every filter bag which does not correspond to the prearranged model, consequently causing the rejection of the single filter bag without introducing it into the stacking station. AUTOMATIC WEIGHT CONTROL AND ADJUSTMENT The optional dynamic checkweigher checks the weight and causes the rejection of cartons which do not comply with the set up weight, it can be connected to the MD20 Plus to automatically adjust the weight of the final carton.
