Fonts print 1. each line same font, typeface & size 2. characters are clear, uniform, high resolution & individual stroke thickness between 8% and 16% of character height 3. material on which DAB printed is at least 35% in the red region (600nm) when measured by a spectral reflectometer and white, cream, buff or other light pastel shade that has a minimum reflectance difference of at least 30% 4. contrast between characters and background on which they are printed (50% or 55% if through a window) 5. no positive contrast or inverse printing 6. fixed pitch of between characters per inch (10-12pt font size) & clear vertical gaps of at least 0.25mm between extremities of adjacent characters 7. for proportionally spaced text spacing at least (significantly improves the rate at which addresses can be read) Indicia 1. required 2. top right hand corner Inserts 1. Postcards no less than 200gsm 6. glue not to stick items together 1. no type of barcode is permitted as an MDI Mailer Defined Information 1. is in a single line which has no more than 64 characters 2. above the recipient s name 3. left justified and aligned with the rest of the DAB elements 4. maintains the same line spacing as the rest of the DAB 5. uses typeface as opposed to pictures or nontypeface graphics 6. MDI is optional An can be next to the DAB Type 7, 29, 9 has spare space which can be used for the MDI 7

Certain recycled paper does give an inconsistent background but this is acceptable so long as the print quality criteria are achieved. 2. A barcode or label + barcode will be applied to items a. Bagged / untrayed portrait (visualise the item in portrait orientation with indica top right): bottom left vertical and top right vertical) POINTS: 1. ing Whilst most items contain Postcode and DPS information it remains important to have a full and accurate address and Postcode on every item so: a. our delivery men and women know the correct place to deliver items; b. our mail processing machines can use the address as well as the information to route the item to the correct location; and a. to maximise the performance of your mailings 10
