On arbors Tool changing in the machine is possible. This process reduces the interface tolerance to zero and therefore the balance and run out can be accurately controlled. The toolset rigidity is now as close to a monobloc construction as possible. Due to this technology, higher RPMs and feed can be achieved resulting in a constant finish quality. For the application on CNC-machines, Leitz provides intelligent tools with an integrated memory chip. This provides the machine control centre essential geometry and technology data such as tool length, diameter as well as RPM and direction of rotation. The risk of false manual input is reduced as the micro chip in the tool automatically updates the machine. E.g. for resetting the tools for different window types. Through intelligent Leitz tools, the incorrect use of the tool is eliminated therefore high working and process safety is achieved. Automatic radius offset correction after sharpening prevents producing an incorrect profile, thus reduces scrap costs. 4

This is also true for spiral grain and pre cut wood. Through this technology we have minimised the reject quota for planing parts. Moreover the lifetime of the tools are increased as they can be resharpened up to 20 times. Leitz RipTec for cross grain cutting (S+T and counter) Through this technology, tear outs on the face side during cutting are avoided. Due to this enables the possibility that the feed speed of the tools can be increased considerably, therefore increasing the machines productivity. With the ripple profile small glue bags are created, this results in a considerably more stable corner joint over traditional profiling. The lifetime of the tools are increased by 20-30%. Ripple technology for cutting along the grain Longitudinal machining, rippled and straight knives alternate in one tool. Therefore with just one pass, the tool is pre and finish cutting, resulting in an excellent surface finish quality. This specifically is used for the sensitive areas of the window, i.e. on the overlap. Through this technology chip impacts are avoided, which often present a problem for example, during the machining of the glazing bead. The costs are reduced by 50% as the ripple knives only have to be changed with every third planer knife.
