3 1 Overview 1.1 Abut Agdat Web The AgDat prject has been envisaged t prvide end t end data management, including capture, validatin, recnciliatin, sharing, security and publishing. The prject builds n the extensive wrk undertaken in the sugar industry ver the last 20 years thrugh the develpment f applicatins such as FarmMap, CHOMP and Prdbase Plus. AgDat is designed t prvide a cmplete slutin: cmmencing with tls that enable and supprt rdinary users t capture cmplex spatial infrmatin, thrugh the prvisin f web sites where this infrmatin can be cllated and prtrayed in cnjunctin with data frm a number f surces. AgDat is a jint initiative between Mackay Sugar, Canegrwers, MAPS and BSES and was partially funded thrugh the Federal Gvernments Caring fr ur Cuntry Reef Rescue prgram that is administered by Reef Catchments. The basic cncepts f the web applicatin are as fllws: Grwers t recrd farm activities at a spatial level. These are ttally custmisable, but cmmn things recrded may include: Nutrient applicatins Chemical Applicatins Irrigatin applicatins Sil management Sils sample details Leaf sample details Administratin details Farm changes Data frm ther surces are als available fr viewing by the users. Other surces may include: Agri Service Advisrs (Pest and Disease Recrds, Planting recrds) Mill Data (eg. Farm Maps, Harvester Tracks, Estimate Maps Envirnmental Data (eg. 4 2 Using the Interface 2.1 Lgging In AgMap can be viewed at Yu will be prmpted by the AgDat Web Lgin screen (Figure 2-1): Figure 2-1 Expect a small delay after clicking lgin befre yu will be re-directed t the AgDat Web main screen. Nte: There is an issue being reslved where AgMap will fail t lad unless all previus brwsers fr AgMap have been clsed entirely first. Simply refreshing a brwser is nt satisfactry at this pint. On a successful lgin, AgMap will display the area and layers apprpriate t yur lgin details First time users f AgDat Web If yu are pening the Agdat Web fr the first time, the applicatin will search yur cmputer t detect if there is a small sftware applicatin called Micrsft Silverlight installed. If this is nt installed, the prgram will stp and ask the user t install Micrsft Silverlight. When yu first g t the link abve, yur system shuld autmatically dwnlad Silverlight, which is used by AgMap. If this fails, Silverlight can be manually dwnladed frm: Click n the bx t start the installatin prcess and fllw the prmpts n the screen. When the prgram has finished installing, clse the install windw and then reselect the farm that yu wish t view frm the main mapping windw and the applicatin will then start fully. 7 Harvester Tracks: Displays the tracks the harvester tk indicating speed f the harvester (see image) 2.5 Mving Arund the Map (Navigatin Tls) Lgut f AgDat Zm T Hme Extent. Simply press it and it will mve the map back t the farm extent. Zm In, Zm Out. Either click n the map t shw a smaller area, r click and hld the muse buttn dwn t drag ut a bx that the mapper will zm t. Get Help Using AgDat Web (This Manual) 2.6 Layer Cntrl AgDat displays infrmatin using the cncept f Layers f data. 8 Figure Data Layer Stack AgDat Web allws yu t interact with these varius layers f data thrugh the Layer Cntrl panel. Figure Layer Cntrl Each layer f data in AgDat Web (with the exceptin f the Backgrund) can then be interacted with using a number f icns: Zm View Label Zms t the full layer extent Displays this layer in AgDat Web. The tp mst visible layer will be seen entirely, with layers beneath nly being partially visible where there are verlaps. Labels each item in the layer with pre-cnfigured labels n/ff fr the layer in the map windw. Labels are defined by admin using the AgDat Cntext Editr (a separate applicatin). Each layer in this windw is available fr display n the map. What yu can d further with each f these layers is dependent n what layer grup it belngs t (explained further under Layer Grup Tabs belw). 2.7 Current Layer Details The Layer Details shws the current infrmatin related t current layer. This is refreshed by either selecting the layer name, r in the case f Data Recrding Layers, selecting the layer frm the drpdwn list. 9 Figure 2-7 Layer Details Other than simply displaying the infrmatin recrded against these recrds, the grid ffers a number f ther useful tls. Duble clicking n a recrd will zm the AgDat Web map windw t the lcatin f that recrd. Add r delete frm selectin using the ptinal check bx next t a recrd displayed either in the Data Grid r Object Inf windws (as discussed in the previus sectin) Edit an existing recrd by clicking the buttn n the left side f the recrd. Prvided the lgged in user has the crrect previledges set, this will bring up the Data Recrding frm fr that recrd, and allw yu t change details. It is als imprtant t nte that recrds created in AgDat Pr (desktp) cannt be edited in AgDat Web. 2.8 Layer Grup Tabs Farm Inf and Data Recrding This is the base data abut the farm yu are viewing, and generally includes: Farm Paddck Crp Data Recrding Layers Data Recrding Layers (lcated in the Farm Inf Tab) are slightly different in that nly ne layer can be displayed at nce. The layer t display is selected frm Data Recrding drp-dwn list. The zm, label and view buttns then wrk exactly the same as they d fr ther layers (sectin 2.5). T create a new Data Recrding click the buttn. This will be displayed further in sectin belw Farm Reprts Figure Saved Search Data Grid Example Precnfigured saved reprts can be setup by an AgDat Pr user, and hencefrth available fr use n AgDat Web. These are pwerful ways f returning cmplex calculatins abut the data that has been recrded in AgDat. A few examples might include: Harvest Management Systems Page 9 Agdat Web User Guide

11 2.8.4 Tags and Sensrs Frm an AgDat users perspective, these data layers are very similar t thse fund in the Vehicle Tracking tab (sectin 2.7.4). The difference is that these make use f the Taggle tags and their netwrks as ppsed t GPS lggers. Tags are used t track a wide variety f things withing the taggle netwrk including: Livestck Gates Vehicles Water Trughs Sil Misture Persnnel Weather Data The Weather Data tab in AgDat has been develped fr the APAL instance f AgDat, and ffers a wide suite f tls useful in recrding weather data, returning frecasts, viewing histrical weather trends and perfrming mre cmplicated histrical weather analysis. 2.9 Making Selectins A Selectin is a subset f all available bjects frm AgDat (eg. paddcks, bres, cattle, weed ccurrences etc). A selectin is built up by a user primarily t use as the Extent f a new data recrding (sectin 3). As yu build the selectin, bjects will be displayed in the Current Selectin Windw n the tp right f the AgDat Web display. 12 2.10 Measuring Tls Figure 2-10 AgDat Web prvides t simple measuring tls, a Plyline and Plygn. Selecting the Measuring Line tl and drawing within the mapping windw will return sme useful infrmatin: Segment (Length): The distance between the previus last 2 clicks with yur muse (ie. between the last 2 ndes f yur line). Cmbined with the Rw Spacing yu have defined, this will als tell yu the number f rws yu have measured acrss. Length (Ttal): The ttal length f yur line. If yu are using the Measuring Plygn, this is the ttal perimeter length, and yu will als nte next t it the ttal internal area f yur plygn as well. Bearing: The bearing (in degress) f yur last segment. 13 3 Vehicle Tracking The vehicle tracking feature in AgDat Web enables a real time view f vehicle/persn speed, status and directin. Data layers fund in this tab are linked with GPS lggers that are attached t vehicles r carried by persnnel (persnnel trackers). Infrmatin transmitted frm the GPS units is displayed n the web. If a user clicks n the vehicle tracking tab are displayed include the fllwing: the typical features that Vehicles displays lcatin and status f Harvester displays cane harvesters Mudtruck displays trucks that are transprting mill mud PushPull displays trucks that are transprting cane in bins Peple displays the lcatin f persnnel lggers Pads and Bases allws AgDat Web users t identify where vehicles are in cnjunctin with the fllwing: Pads displays the pads frm which bins are drpped ff and cllected Bases displays the base t which bin deliveries are made (e.g. mill r yard) 3.1 Vehicles Interface (Harvester, Mudtruck, PushPull, Peple) The abve is a typical example f the interface fr a trucks lcatin and status. The same fields are displayed in the AgDat Web interface fr each vehicle type (harvester, mud truck, pushpull, peple). They are as fllws: Histry enables the user t view histrical GPS recrds fr a vehicle/persn Fllw enables the user t fllw a particular vehicle/persn, check this fr a vehicle and AgDat will zm t its new lcatin whenever it mves Shw selecting the tick bx displays the vehicle/persn in the mapping windw. ETA data frm FREDD (Agtrix Transprt and Lgistics) is used t display the status and lcatin f trucks n AgDat Web. 15 Clicking n this fr a particular tracked vehicle will bring up a small cntrl bx, and a list f previus GPS recrds fr that vehicle: If available, yu can lk at the vehicles mvements fr the defined time perid by clicking Play. Yu can als change the dates and view histrical mvement by that vehicle. Yu can change the perid f time by adjusting the date and time fields and then clicking n the Refresh Data buttn After the histry is run a user can click n the tab Speed ver time displays a Speed Graph fr the vehicle in questin as per the image belw.. 16 3.1.3 Vehicle Reprts The fllwing reprts can be run t view the perfrmance f vehicles ver a perid f time. The table prvides reprt descriptins and fllwing are screen shts f each reprt. 19 3.2 Pads, Bases Interface The pads and bases interface enables a user t visualise the lcatin f cane pads and bases (mills/yards) fr a regin. It displays the status f trucks at the lcatin as per the image belw. When a user clicks n the Pads tab the fllwing fields are displayed: Name the name f the pad e.g. rad name r farm name Cde cde given t the pad Base kms the distance frm the pad t the primary base Base Min the number f minutes it takes t travel frm the pad t the primary base When a user clicks n the Bases Name the name f the base Cde cde given t the base tab the fllwing fields are displayed: Harvest Management Systems Page 19 Agdat Web User Guide

20 4 Weather Data 4.1 Weather The Weather Data tab in AgDat ffers a wide suite f tls useful in recrding weather data, returning frecasts, viewing histrical weather trends and perfrming mre cmplicated histrical weather analysis Frecast This simple tl returns a frecast frm the selected statin fr the next 5 days nwards frm the designated Issue Date. If the Issue Date is changed, the frecast must be refreshed using the refresh buttn Climate Trends Yu select which range yu wish t view the climate trends fr frm the drp dwn list. Yu can als custmise yur year range by selecting the Custm ptin frm the drp dwn list and then defining yur years in the Frm and T bxes belw. Once yur range has been defined, yu must click the refresh buttn in rder t see the data frm yur new range. There are a number f tabs lcated the bttm f the screen that give yu a range f ptins fr data trends t be displayed. The Grid view is the same as data grids used elsewhere in AgDat, in that this will display a tabulated view f all f the data available within yur defined year range. Each f the ther tabs display graphical views f fields within the data grid. 21 The type f chart displayed is dependent n the data type being examined (eg. Prgressive Line fr Rainfall, and scatter plts fr thers) Climate Analysis Mre in depth analysis f available weather data fr given time perids, including: Rain (Cumulative and Nn-cumulative) Temperature Evapratin (Cumulative and Nn-cumulative) Humidity My Statin Data The weather data trends available fr analysis is nt restricted t Frecast Statins. Yu are able t create an bservatin site pretty much wherever yu are able t take measurements, and include this in yur trends and analysis. T create a new statin, see the My Prfile sectin belw. 23 5 Hw t Recrd Data Agdat is driven by recrding events, which is a recrd f what s actually happens as ppsed t what the change is. Data recrding mde allws yu t recrd events/data against farms, management units (paddcks), crps, drawn plygns and gps pints. A recrding event may have up t 3 cmpnents: Spatial Extent f where the event ccurred (the area fr which the data recrd ccupies) Data abut what happened Distributin f ne r mre parameters (e.g. Yield, EM data) Data recrding events d nt change base data (such as available data recrding cntext ptins) nly system events have the capacity t d this thrugh the separate cntext editr. The cnfiguratin f new data recrding cntext is an administratin functin that is addressed under administratin. Sme events may be recrded autmatically via AgDat Remte vehicle tracking (such as planting r harvest). It als allws data recrding t be linked t crp events such as planting. Once a data recrding event is recrded it is available fr sharing with any ther AgDat user with the crrect permissins set. There are 5 general steps that are made when creating a Data Recrding Event Indicate the extent f this event by making a Selectin as described in sectin 2. Select the Data Recrding Cntext yu wish t recrd frm the drp-dwn list (eg. Chemical Applicatin, Farm Visit, Planting Inspectin) Start a Data Recrding by clicking the Create Data Recrding buttn Enter Data n the data recrding frm Save T demnstrate these steps, we will g thrugh sme typical examples. 5.1 Simple Data Recrding Against a Paddck The simplest means t add a Data Recrding Event is t apply it t an entire paddck. In ther wrds, the extent f the event will use the same gegraphical area as an existing paddcks bundary. T d this we first simply click n the paddck we want. The paddck will becme selected and appear as a recrd in the Current Selectin windw (tp right) as well as changing its appearance in the Mapping Pane t lk similar t this: Harvest Management Systems Page 23 Agdat Web User Guide

24 Figure Select using a paddck s extent With the paddck bundaries selected as the extent f ur new event, we then wish t select the event s cntext frm the recrding list. Create Data Recrding Figure Data Recrding Cntrl Available Cntexts Once we select an event type, it will return all current recrds in the Layer Details Grid. We then select the Create Data Recrding buttn event by a frm (Figure 3.1-3).. Yu will be prmpted t enter the required data abut this new Harvest Management Systems Page 24 Agdat Web User Guide

25 Figure New Data Recrding Event frm Fields in the frm may be: Lists (such as Fertiliser types, including Prperties, Cnstituents and Rates) Such as Fertiliser types, including prperties, cnstituents and rates Allws fr quality assurance when inputting data, enabling ease f analysis Text Fields Numeric Date Fields Linked Event (things like Planting Surce explained in further detail in sectin 6.2.6) The frm will als display the current selectin that the Data Recrd will be applied against (n the right) as well as the name f each bject in the selectin (Bttm f the frm). Once happy with the new Data Recrding Event, click OK. The Data Recrd is saved. 5.2 Drawing Tls Where the extent f yur event is nt as simple as clicking n an existing paddck r the like, AgDat Web makes use f sme very handy drawing tls. New drawing bjects can be used as part f a new data recrds Extent, which is useful if yu wish t recrd data against an area nt currently represented by an existing bject already (eg. A prtin f land that cvers nly a small prtin f 2 adjacent paddcks) Add Pints Draw a pint in AgDat using this tl. Simply click this buttn t start, and then left click in the mapping pane where yu want yur pint t be. A pint will appear. Harvest Management Systems Page 25 Agdat Web User Guide

26 Yu can shift its lcatin nce it has been drawn by left hld clicking n the pint, and dragging it using yur muse t its new lcatin, releasing the left hld click when it is in its crrect lcatin. Yu can then use this pint as part f the extent f a new Data Recrd (discussed in Sectin 3), hwever yu will n lnger be able t change its lcatin nce it has been added as a new data recrd. If yu save this and return t the main screen, yu will ntice the pint appears as a new blue Thumb Tack pint fr that cntext Add Line Draw a line in AgDat using this tl. Simply click this buttn t start, and then left click in the mapping pane t start ne end f yur line. Cntinue clicking successively adding each pint (nde) f yur line by left clicking fr each new pint. T finish the line, duble click n yur last pint. When yu first drew the plyline, yu may have nticed each time yu clicked a nde f the line was added (clured yellw). These can be referred t as Edit Ndes. Additinally, between the nde yu just added and the previus ne, a blue clured pint Midpint nde was als added exactly midway between the 2 yellw edit ndes. 27 Edit ndes can be mved t a new lcatin by hlding a left click n the nde while dragging t its new lcatin, releasing the click when yu are happy. They can als be deleted entirely by simply left clicking n the nde, and the plylines shape will adjust accrdingly. Midpint ndes are csmetic nly, unless yu click n it. The mment yu d s, it becmes an Edit nde and can be manipulated as discussed abve.
