Photography provides a way to share his heritage and the beauty of a vanishing Louisiana. For over 30 years he had worked as a professional photographer and used his experience to capture things he loves. To capture my images I use the best cameras and lenses that Nikon sells and over thirty years of commercial experience. After the capture, I perform a minimum of computer adjustments so my images maintain the spirit of the moment. After years of enjoying and studying the works of others photographers and artists, I have developed my own style. By using digital equipment as if it was film, I enjoy the best of both worlds. After a lifetime of exploring the swamps and bayous of Louisiana I am still thrilled to see what it will provide as inspiration on each visit. I feel I was placed on this earth to be a good husband, father and to share the beauty that I see in nature. Lane Lefort

You'll be swimmin' in seafood at New Orleans City Park this weekend when this Mid-City greenspace becomes the location for the Louisiana Seafood Festival. Rain or shine, this free festival will have live music, celebrity cooking demos, kids' activities, arts village, and food and drinks for sale. "From our waters, to your plate"... as they say. 3 pm 9pm Friday; 11 am 9 pm Saturday and Sunday. Mississippi Gulf Coast Blues Festival Saturday, September 10, 2016 Pascagoula, Ms. Top-flight blues entertainers including Katrenia Jefferson, Nathaniel Kimble, Will Easley, Kern Pratt, and Joes Francois & Road Home Band headline this event when it returns to the Jackson County Fairgrounds for a twentyfourth year running. There'll be plenty of food and drinks, cultural exhibits, and kids' diversions all built around a celebration of Mississippi's blues heritage. Hosted by the West Baton Rouge CVB, the Oldies But Goodies Fest and Smokin' Oldies Cookoff returns to prove again that some things never go out of style. Saturday is the big barbecue competition and entertainment by Big River Express Band. Sunday is a blast from the past with hula hooping, antique car displays, jitterbugging contests, a poker run, and live music by Na Na Sha (11 am 2 pm ) and Foret Tradition (2:30 pm 5:30 pm). Steamboat Stomp Friday Sunday, September 23-25, 2016 New Orleans, La Little-known fact: steamboats played a critical role in popularizing jazz music throughout the nation, as many of the greats (Satchmo, Fate Marable, and more) got their start on riverboats traveling from New Orleans to hot spots such as St. Louis and Memphis. And while steamboat whistles have a musicality of their own, The Steamboat Natchez will celebrate this piece of river history with this festival of traditional jazz. The weekend will feature some of the best musicians performing traditional New Orleans-style jazz on the steamboat, including Yerba Buena Stompers, Dukes of Dixieland, Duke Heitger s Steamboat Stompers, Tim Laughlin, Tuba Skinny, Kris Tokarski, and more! The West Baton Rouge Museum will hold its annual SugarFest Oct. 2nd, a sweet celebration of the sugar cane harvest that has been named a Top Twenty Southeastern Tourism event. It's a full day of family-oriented activities, live music, plantation-style cooking, and hordes of kids in the throes of a massive sugar rush. This old-fashioned good time sports attractions like a mule-driven cane grinder in action, praline making, blacksmithing, soap making, and other historic craft demonstrations; Louisiana musicians performing Dixieland jazz, spirituals, folk, Cajun/zydeco, and blues; hands-on activities for the kiddos, sugar-related exhibits inside the museum, wagon rides, and fresh sugar cane to gnaw on. The twenty-first annual sweets contest takes the flavor up a notch with homemade sugary cakes, candies, cookies, and cupcakes. The categories are: B&W Print assignment Cemetery, Open B&W, Open Color and Nature Prints must be 70 square inches minimum and no larger than 16x20 inches including any matting. Mounting - ALL prints must be mounted (placed on mat board/foam board/or illustration board) or matted with mat board for stability. Total size should be no larger than 16x20 and no thicker than 3/8 inch and provide a smooth, solid backing with no hardware attached. Cardboard is unacceptable. Protecting - Prints may be placed in clear, plastic envelopes (exact size or folded around to the back of the print to fit) or shrink wrap. Frames, glass, and Plexiglas are not allowed. Official entry labels should be affixed to the outside of the envelope. Do not seal envelopes. A judge may wish to remove the print to view the image without a glare. Sealed envelopes will not be opened and will be judged accordingly. Adhesives - Adhesive (glue/double-sided tape/etc.) must be applied in a neat manner so that it cannot be touched or contact any other prints. Labeling - Official Print Label entry forms are available on sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/gnocc-print-label.pdf. The upper left hand corner of the back of the print must contain the proper information typed or written neatly & legibly with the directional arrow placed so as to indicate the top of the print as the image should be viewed. Be sure you have included the photographer s name, title of print and the category in which the print is being submitted. The Club reserves the right to reject any print which is deemed not suitable or the subject matter is in poor taste which includes lewd, pornographic, or grossly obscene persons, places, or things. From under the blanket, she sees four legs instead of just her husband's two. She reaches for a baseball bat and starts hitting the blanket as hard as she can. Once she's done, she goes to the kitchen to have a drink. As she enters, she sees her husband there, reading a magazine. He says, "Hi darling, your parents have come to visit us, so I let them stay in our bedroom. Did you say hello?"
