Crib Skirt Yardages and Supplies Note: WOF means width of fabric from selvage edge to selvage edge. Seam allowances are 1/2. Finished Size: 28 x 52, with 16 panels. 3 1/2 yards Fabric #1, SB20008.

To finish seams, stitch seams together 1/4" from edge and zigzag stitch or serge the raw edges together. 1. Cut a 29" x 53" rectangle from the muslin for the crib skirt deck. 2. Fold Fabric #1 in half, matching selvage edges. Follow the layout diagram attached to cut rectangles for the skirt panels. You will need four 17 1/2" x 30 1/2" rectangles for the front and back panels, four 17 1/2" x 18 1/2" rectangles for the end panels, and four 17 1/2" x 7" rectangles for the center pleat inserts. 3. For the front panel, sew a 17 1/2" x 30 1/2" rectangle to each side of one 17 1/2" x 7 center pleat insert, aligning the 17 1/2" sides. Finish seams and press away from the center insert. 4. In the same way, make the back panel by sewing the remaining two 17 1/2" x 30 1/2" rectangles to one center pleat insert. Finish seams and press away from the center insert. 5. Make the two end panels by stitching one 17 1/2" x 18 1/2" rectangle to each side of a center pleat insert. Finish seams and press away from the pleat insert. 6. On all four sewn panels, fold up and press the long bottom edge 1/2". Fold up again 1/2" and press to create a double hem.

Pin one end panel to the short side of the muslin deck rectangle. Place the finished edges of the panel 1/2" from the end edges of the deck rectangle. Pin. Sew end panel to the deck. Press seam toward deck. 12. Sew the other end panel to the opposite side of the deck rectangle. Press seam toward deck. 13. Sew the front and back panels to the long sides of the muslin deck rectangle. Press seams toward deck. 10. With wrong sides together, fold the panel at the side pins. Bring both fold lines to the center pin of the insert, aligning raw edges at the top and hems at the bottom. Press to form a box pleat. Baste at the top to

Trim the fabric into a 69" x 44" rectangle. You will be using the full width of the fabric, including the selvage edges. 2. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise and in half crosswise, so all four corner edges align. 3. Cut away an 8" square from all four corners (or, if you do not want to use a ruler and rotary cutter, make an 8" paper pattern and align it with each corner of the fabric rectangle. Mark the inside edges of the square and cut with scissors along the lines). Discard the cut squares, or save them for another project. 4. To sew the first corner of the sheet, fold the fabric diagonally and bring the two edges of the square cutout right sides together. Pin.

To make the casing for the elastic, fold up and press the raw edge 1/4", then fold up again 3/8" and press. 8. Edge stitch close to the inner fold line, leaving an opening of 2" - 3" long for inserting the elastic. Reinforce the stitches at both ends of the opening. 9. Attach a safety pin to one end of the elastic. Insert into the opening and push it through the casing around the edge of the sheet until it comes out the 11. Cut 8-2 x 26 rectangles for double ties. Six 10" x 26" foam bumper pads (Fairfield NU-Foam Baby Bumper Pads). To make single ties, place each 2" x 13" rectangle on the ironing surface, wrong side up. Fold down one short end 1/4" and press. Fold rectangle in half along the length and press again. 2. Fold and press raw edges in to meet the center fold line along the length of the tie. 3. Fold tie in half with all raw edges tucked inside, matching the first two folded edges. 4. Edge stitch close to the turned under edges along the one short end and along the length of tie.

Make sure that the finished ends of the ties are placed away from the edges so they do not get caught in the seams. Starting about 1" in from one lower corner, sew the rectangles together, ending the stitching about 1" in from the opposite lower corner, and leaving an opening to insert the foam. Reinforce stitching at both ends of the opening. 8. Trim excess seam allowance from corners. Press up both seam allowances at the bottom opening. 6. To make the end bumper pad, pin 4 single ties to the short ends of one Fabric #1 rectangle. Position the raw edge of the ties 1/2" in from the top and bottom raw edges of the rectangle. Baste. 9. Turn right side out. Insert a foam bumper pad into the opening. Sew opening closed by hand with small slip stitches. 7. Place a rectangle of Fabric #2 against a Fabric #1 rectangle, right sides together. The ties will be 10. Follow steps 6 through 9 to make the second end bumper pad. 11. Insert a foam bumper into each side of the sewn rectangle. Sew opening closed by hand with small slip stitches, making sure that the bottom double ties are outside of the bumper pad. 12. Pin four single ties at the short ends of the stitched Fabric #1 rectangle. Position the raw edge of the ties 1/2" from the top and bottom raw edges of the rectangle. Pin four double ties at the long top and bottom sides of the rectangle. Position them 13 3/8" from the short edges of the rectangle. Baste. 13. Place a rectangle of Fabric #2 against a Fabric #1 rectangle, right sides together. The ties will be between the rectangles of fabric. Make sure that the finished ends of the ties are placed away from the edges so they do not get caught in the seams. Starting about 1 in from one lower corner, sew the rectangles together, ending the stitching about 1 in from the opposite lower corner, and leaving an opening to insert the foam. Reinforce stitching at both ends of the opening. 16. Follow steps 11 through 15 to make the second long bumper pad. 14. Trim excess seam allowance from corners. Press up both seam allowances at the bottom opening. Turn right side out. Align center seams of both rectangles
