3 Page 3 of 7 Sewing Sew using a ¼ seam allowance with right sides together (RST) unless otherwise indicated. Press seams as shown by arrows. Block One 1. Sew one 4 ½ x 7 ½ Fabric I strip to the left side of one 4 ½ x 7 ½ Fabric K strip (Fig. 1). 2. Sew one 3 ½ x 8 ½ Fabric J strip to the bottom of the sewn block. Sew one 3 ½ x 10 ½ Fabric J strip to the right side of the sewn block (Fig. 2). 3. Sew one 3 ½ x 11 ½ Fabric H strip to the top of the sewn block (Fig. 3). 4. Sew one 7 ½ x 13 ½ Fabric B strip to the left side of the sewn block (Fig. 4). 5. Sew one 6 ½ x 18 ½ Fabric B strip to the top of the sewn block and one 6 ½ x 18 ½ Fabric M strip to the bottom of the sewn block to make one 18 ½ x 25 ½ Block One Unit (Fig. 5). Block 1 6. 4 Page 4 of 7 Block Three 12. Sew one 3 x 7 Fabric L strip to the top of one 7 Fabric I square. Sew one 3 ½ x 9 ½ Fabric M strip to the right side of the sewn block (Fig. 10). 13. Sew one 4 ½ x 10 Fabric K strip to the top of the sewn block (Fig. 11). 14. Sew one 6 x 13 ½ Fabric F strip to the left side of the sewn block and one 4 ½ x 13 ½ Fabric D strip to the right side of the sewn block (Fig. 12). 15. Sew one 7 ½ x 19 ½ Fabric A strip to the top of the sewn block and sew one 5 ½ x 19 ½ Fabric G strip to the bottom of the sewn block to make one 19 ½ x 25 ½ Block Three (Fig. 13). Sew one 8 ½ x 9 Fabric H strip to the top of the sewn block and one 8 ½ x 10 ½ Fabric A strip to the bottom of the sewn block (Fig. 15). 19. Sew one 4 ½ x 25 Fabric D strip to the left side of the sewn block and one 2 ½ x 25 Fabric M strip to the right side of the sewn block to make one 14 ½ x 25 Block Four (Fig. 16). 5 Page 5 of 7 Block Five 20. Sew together three 2 ½ x 4 ½ Fabric H strips and three 2 ½" Fabric I squares alternating them. Sew one 2 ½ Fabric H square on the right end as shown (Fig. 17). 21. Sew pieced strip to the bottom of the 13 ½ x 20 ½ Fabric A piece (Fig. 18). 22. Sew together three 4 ½ Fabric L squares and two 4 ½ Fabric J squares, alternating them (Fig. 19). 23. Sew one 2 x 20 ½ Fabric I strip to the top of the sewn squares, sew one 4 ½ x 20 ½ Fabric G strip to the top of the Fabric I strip (Fig. 20). 24. Sew the sewn unit from Fig. 18 to the top of the sewn unit from Fig. 20. Sew one 3 ½ x 25 Fabric D strip to the right side of the sewn units to make one 23 ½ x 25 Block Five (Fig. 21). Sew one 3 ½ x 8 ½ Fabric J strip to the top of the sewn strips (Fig. 22). 26. Sew one 8 ½ x 10 ½ Fabric A strip to the top of the sewn block and sew one 8 ½ x 9 Fabric H strip to the bottom of the sewn block (Fig. 23). 27. Sew one 4 ½ x 25 Fabric E strip to the left side of the sewn block and sew one 6 ½ x 25 Fabric D strip to the right side of the sewn block to make one 18 ½ x 25 Block Six (Fig. 24). 6 Page 6 of 7 Quilt Top 28. Sew together one Block One Unit, one Block Two unit and one Block Three unit to make the top row (Fig 25). Repeat to make the bottom row. 29. Sew together one Block Four Unit, one Block Five Unit and one Block Six Unit to make the middle row (Fig. 26). 7 Page 7 of 7 Finishing Layering, Quilting and Finishing 31. Cut two 63 x wof strips from the backing fabric. Sew the two 63 x wof strips together and trim to make one 63 x 83 backing piece. 32. Press the quilt top and backing well. Layer backing (wrong side up), batting, pressed quilt top (right side up) and baste. Quilt as desired and trim excess batting and backing when quilting is complete. Binding 33. Cut the ends of the seven binding strips at a 45-degree angle and sew end to end to make one continuous piece of binding. Fold in half lengthwise and press wrong sides together. Sew the binding to the front of the quilt, raw edges together. Turn the folded edge to the back, and hand stitch in place.
